  1. Add a fourth train to Steel Vengeance and turn the transfer track into a block zone where the train stops before ascending the lift hill- though this would ruin the pops of airtime you get before the base of the hill.
  2. Something I thought of yesterday that I would like to get everyone’s opinion on. When I go to Cedar Point, I often go for experiences that I can’t necessarily get back home. These rides include Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Valravn, and GateKeeper (also TTD when it was open). Of course I ride the other attractions at the park, but what I listed are typically immediate priority. I hope that whatever we get covers at least of the experiences that these rides offer: a 90 degree drop, near miss elements, quick transitions, multiple smooth inversions- anyone of these would be great.
  3. Personally I feel like they were trying to compete with BGW for KD and they hopped on the Charolette bandwagon with Carowinds. I’m surprised too. I don’t know a lot about those parks respective markets but, typically if you’re in the entertainment/hospitality industry, holidays are a good time to make extra money. I could see an argument for why Valleyfair or Michigan’s Adventure don’t have their own Winterfest- weather might play a factor. Regarding WoF, IIRC they claimed it was a “business decision” which is maybe why they’ve held off on Dorney. My wonky guess is staffing plays a part in why they didn’t bring it back for Worlds of Fun.
  4. Couldn’t the trains have weights of some kind added to amend that?
  5. Those aren’t bad ideas! I would slow down the lift chain until the last train clears the breaks by the transfer shed to prevent stacking and add some audio on the lift to add to the affect. Additionally I’d encase the overflow que that runs parallel to the lift hill like Orion and make it a cabin you’d have to walk through.
  6. If there is one coaster you could improve without altering the layout, what would it be? Improvements could be any of the following: Paint job Near miss objects New trains Theming Structures (tunnels count) Altering the lift/propulsion mechanism Other You can chose one or many improvements depending on the coaster you select. I’m excluding giving wooden coasters the RMC treatment or Titan track from this thread. I’ll start with an example: I would improve Banshee by adding tombstones underneath the pretzel element to give a near miss element.
  7. Something operations wise that interested me- the last time I was at the park on a Saturday, they were running 6 passenger car trains. This isn’t entirely a surprise considering they gained back some associates back with the WWC and and SC closed crossings closed but in the past they only did 3 passenger car ops for fall. 3 car fall ops were common in the past because the Haunt platform could only hold 3 passenger cars so with the platform gone, they didn’t necessarily need to limit ops to 3. What’s interesting is with the train running 6 cars during fall, you need one associate at both ends of the train- you’d think they would just operate at minimum and use that spare associate in a location that could use an extra person. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it seems like a complete 180 from the summer season when the park would occasionally run a single 3 car train while the waterpark was open.
  8. A perfect example are the coasters that Canada’s Wonderland pitched to their fans: two were wing coasters (one interacting with Wonder Mountain and the other being music related) and one being a Zambezi Zinger type GCI. I have no doubt CF wants to disperse unique rides across the chain. “Unique” is a subjective word though. To someone who lives in KI’s target regions, a dive is likely to be considered unique as the closest one outside of Sandusky is in Virginia. If they want to give KI something that’s “unique” they’d have to give them a spinner, a surf, or something from Vekoma or another manufacturer. The problem is, the park has a gap that it needs to fill with a looping coaster that sits above the track, in that case the main “unique” option that would excel would be a mini dive with at least 5 inversions. I think if you wanna give us something truly unique you replace Invertigo and Congo with a Surf but then we’d have so many B&Ms people would be in an uproar.
  9. Valravn and Yukon Striker have the 8 row models and they have similar attendance. I see your argument for higher capacity trains- if you want with 7 seaters, you can use the standard B&M track over the larger ones that you see on the 8/10 seater coasters. 7 seater vs 8 seater trains is a difference of 3 people which, in my opinion, isn’t a huge loss in ridership….especially if the money you’d be spending on wider track would instead be going to more inversions or longer track length.
  10. Much like how the park split up Oktoberfest and created a new section, I think the same could be done for Coney Mall: You have Coney Mall to the back left of the Eiffel Tower, Rivertown to the back right of the Eiffel Tower, then you have a ton of potential directly behind the Eiffel Tower. This could easily be marketed as its own section whenever Vortex gets replaced.
  11. To me that’s like saying Raptor and Banshee can’t coexist in the same state. I think Valravn was made just to have another 200fter that broke records at the time. With Steel Vengeance and Top Thrill 2 coming along, Valravn has sorta fallen into the “part of the collection” category imo. I think we could have a dive of our own, if it’s more like Steel Menace where it’s more focused on inversions over height. If you go with a 6/7 seater dive, you could get away with standard B&M track so you could put more money into length/ inversions. If you could get a mini dive that squeezes out 5/6 inversions, you’d have a suitable Vortex replacement while offering the dive aspect.
  12. I hope the train gets a facelift- I think The Twelve Days of Christmas has overstayed its welcome.
  13. Because if Home Depot can have Christmas items for sale in October, surely we can talk about Winterfest.
  14. Knott’s is an interesting park to look at. They have a lot of great themed attractions that are on par with Disney and Universal but then you also have great thrill attractions that surpass what you’d expect from a land locked amusement park. As the years go on and the industry changes, I wonder how their business model will evolve. Will they add a hyper or some other high thrill attraction to bring in more thrill seekers? Will they add more themed attractions to try and be a more affordable alternative to Disney/ Universal? Will it be a mixture of both?
  15. I feel like if you communicate your issue with the park, they would throw you a bone if it’s a required medication. I don’t legally think they can deny people to have their medication handy but maybe there’s a loophole.
  16. I’m not saying there’s direct correlation but Brightline (Florida’s newest passenger service from Miami) expanded to Orlando with plans to expand to Tampa, so it’s possible that SEAS sees a potential opportunity there but I digress. With SEAS trying to build a new identity, I could see them continue to want to invest in parks- especially the ones in tourist heavy Florida.
  17. What surprises me is that Williamsburg hasn’t gotten a B&M since ‘07 as they’re direct competitors with Kings Dominion. I wonder why Sea World Entertainment didn’t throw them a wing coaster sometime during the 2010s.
  18. This. Call me biased but in terms of ride associates- everyone should be trained on the train so they don’t have to cut the passenger cars down to 3 like they’ve had to do on some days. I think with regards to train ops, something that happened recently affected it in a negative way: Mystic Timbers. The old White Water Canyon path went over the train tracks but now it had to be rerouted to accommodate the coaster. The problem is, now the pathway is on level ground so there has to be someone at the gate. That might not be a big issue but that’s one less person who could been used to monitor the back part of the train and allow for 6 car ops.
  19. No but without regional guests- their attendance is subject to tank. Imagine if you took Cleveland and Toledo metro guests out of their attendance numbers….yikes. I always considered CP to be somewhere in between a destination and a regional park- much like KI. You have your regional guests who come, then you have your guests who live within a 2-3 hour radius, then you have your travelers.
  20. Plus it would be pretty difficult to incorporate onboard onto a train that’s already swaying
  21. They could be referring to the layout as it does look like banks a lot to the left and right.
