  1. A lot of my missed opportunities are thematic:

Why wasn’t Woodstock Express painted yellow in the first place?- it would’ve had a double meaning as Woodstock himself is yellow and that was the coaster’s original scheme when it was Scooby Doo.

Why wasn’t BLSC rebranded to Greater Cincinnati? When ownership changed hands, it would’ve been cool to see Cincinnati type billboards instead of having it themed to Hollywood- even the license plates on the train still say “California.”

Why were the dinosaurs in Dinosaurs Alive all gray? I understand this was a product of Dinosaurs Unearthed but I feel like having all the dinosaurs be close to the same color probably got boring for kids after a while. I understand accuracy is an element to education but we have no clue what exact colors dinosaurs were… they could’ve gotten creative with some of them- the Columbus Zoo was able to do it:

  2. Mine certainly isn’t the “biggest” but it was low hanging fruit: not overhauling Action Zone around Banshee’s debut. When Invertigo was repainted in 2012 they could’ve called it Screamin Demon to set the overhaul in motion. They also could’ve repainted Drop Tower to reflect the eerie feel they were trying to accomplish with Banshee/The Bat.

Like I said, it’s not the biggest missed opportunity but it was a missed opportunity nonetheless.

  3. Paramount was not shy about putting cloned rides across their parks, but their decisions on which park got what was….inconsistent.

So the question has to be asked: why? Was KI considered for a Hurler?- why did Paramount decide to put a Hurler clone in two of their parks that were in neighboring states? By that logic why didn’t they give Carowinds an IJ:ST clone?- was that the plan down the road? I could go on.

  4. From what I gather, the Invertigo model was extremely popular amongst roller coaster enthusiasts compared to the original sit down version, so naturally only 4 were ever built…

I’m kind of surprised we haven’t seen a modern version of the Invertigo model with new track and vest restraints.

Love them personally, but re-rideability is bad for story based attractions. At a regional park with a huge regularly revisiting customer base, I think you would see dwindling numbers fast. I don’t think you could make a compelling enough argument (unfortunately) for these types of attractions. Just look at the maintenance on the story-based elements they have for rides. After the first season or two, when most of their core market has “heard the story” they let all of those elements slide into disuse and just focus on the ride.

You make a good point. The only thing I can think of that would amend that would be changing stories-similar to how Chuck E Cheese used to change out their shows with different music back in the day; but even then you’d have to update the show nearly every other season to keep it fresh.

  6. Have attractions that aren’t ride based- like the Hall of Presidents or Country Bear Jamboree. They’ve done a live action show in the KI Theater for the past two seasons. If entertainment wanted to focus resources on different shows, KI could still use the PT theme for a sit down animatronic show.

  7. Well^

I’m not trying to be conspiracy theorist here but….

With this announcement, the kids area is going to be nearly perfectly split into 2 halves. I know the Camp Snoopy theme ties into the Apple TV show and we also see this with Knott’s, but here’s my question: Why not go all the way with it?

It could simply be a budget thing to just update the back part of the kids area but for some reason this reminds of of what Paramount did in the 90s…but in reverse. In the 90s the back part of Hanna Barbera Land became Nickelodeon with both sections coexisting up until the Nickelodeon Universe rebrand.

With the upcoming merger of FUN and SIX, could the park be leaving the front part of the kids area open for a rebrand? Could we see “Bugs Bunny Boomtown” or “DC Superfriends” take over the “old” Planet Snoopy? Could we see Woodstock Express and Boo Blasters return to Scooby Doo IP?

If they overhauled the whole kids section I wouldn’t even bring this up, but the fact that they split the kids area into two halves leaves the possibility open for the the “older” section to be considered for a rebrand that doesn’t involve Peanuts LLC.

  8. Not to be critical at all but how much longer until companies quit using the pandemic as the reason to cut budgets? I acknowledge that during the pandemic and the years following there was a huge financial struggle across the board but are we going to be hearing pandemic well into 2030?

  9. I’ll start. Aside from International Restaurant, the second floors of the buildings along International Street can’t accommodate people in a hospitality capacity. If there was one thing I wish they had some foresight on, it would be the potential revenue they could’ve earned by making the second stories of I-Street fully accessible for parties or special events like they do for International Restaurant.
