This looks to be Cliffhanger 2.0! Now Dorney has 3 unique B&Ms to call their own. I know dives can be seen as repetitive but part of me is a little jealous of Dorney; we don’t even have a vertical drop, let alone anything beyond vertical! I’m impressed that they went with the 7 row design. I’ve never been to this park but I’m just happy that they got some love considering they haven’t gotten anything custom in some time!

We have the attendance to pull it off. Im not sure what the numbers are but maybe the Hotels at CP play apart of their Thursday night haunt. Those hotels are the real cash cows.

I’d say maybe 5pm-10pm would be ideal. The biggest obstacle would be staffing. I don’t think they could have the same amount of rides open that they do during the weekend Haunt schedule. Maybe harken back to the old Fearfest days when only select rides were open and focus more on the haunted houses and mazes.

The Woodstock Gliders/Snoopy’s Space Buggies announcement was in-person inside the Festhaus. The Tropical Plunge announcement was also in-person outside Soak City.

Thank you for the correction! It would be nice if they continued in person announcements- but it’s possible that there’s a reason why this one will be online.

  4. For those who are complaining about a 24 hour notice….I believe Woodstock Gliders/Snoopy’s Space Buggies got similar treatment before they were announced, the same can be said for Tropical Plunge. I believe Antique Autos was an in-person announcement because the park was bringing back a defunct KI attraction that many people had missed- the same could be said for when they announced Winterfest two years prior.

    That’s our “teaser campaign?”

    good grief!

Granted, Woodstock Gliders/Snoopy’s Space Buggies got similar treatment before they were announced; the same can be said for Tropical Plunge.

*Edit: these were in person announcements

  6. At this point, I’m wondering if anything will be done. I know it’s been discussed that the building needs to be addressed but it seems like it’s constantly on the back burner because of newer, more pressing projects: Vortex needs to be replaced, Invertigo is likely the next big coaster to go, Soak City and Planet Snoopy both need attention. It’s serving as a haunted house so there’s no reason to outright demolish it when it serves a purpose. It’s too small to put something new in it like DarKoaster.

I can’t think of a realistic timeline that the building would come into play, unless management gets sick of looking at it and decides to demo in favor of a flat ride and call it a day.

  7. It felt like a breath of fresh air.

Cedar Fair gave us a reliable hyper in 2009 which took attention away from Son of Beast which would operate for the last time that same year. 3 seasons past with the World’s Tallest and Fastest wooden coaster out of commission until it was announced that the ride would be biting the dust in 2012. 2013 hit and an empty plot of land, guarded by tall construction fences, kept guests wondering what was to come. The season progressed as excellent marketing kept guests wondering up until August 8th. The random screams from an unknown creature kept people on their toes.

Finally it was announced and the overall reaction was what I stated earlier: a breath of fresh air. A park that had survived off of Arrows, Vekomas, PTCs, Premiers, (and a well known wooden coaster) for so many years was getting its first custom modern inversion machine since 1987 (not to mention the park’s second B&M.) It was new, it popped visually, broke records, and had awesome theming. I’m not saying this because this is a KI fansite, but Banshee was arguably the best executed teaser campaign from start to finish out of any coaster I know of.

Seems sloppy to not end a sentence with punctuation.

Also, it ends in a hashtag… you don’t punctuate that. Social media grammar is a different beast altogether

Did anyone ask about rainbows? Or is someone coming out of hiding?

This is stretching it extremely far to the point where it just comes off as a personal attack. A roller coaster that features water forms a rainbow, that’s a unique thing to post about. This just comes off as nitpicking and personal bias all round.

Like when they close the park for low attendance, and mgmt tells employees to lie and say it is weather.

Also, were you referring to yesterday? It was pouring off and on all day. I was there and the sky was extremely dark by around 4PM and there was hardly anyone in the waterpark to begin with.

I would think some things that would alarm guest would be kept under wrap. Like a broken cart axle, or cracked cart frame wouldn’t be disclosed to the public. Anything that would make the ride seem unsafe wouldn’t be disclosed at all. I’d imagine the same would’ve been done for Fury325 if it had been caught by the park first.

That’s the difference though: not disclosing information vs blatantly giving false information are two completely different things.

What we are told from Cedar Fair employees cannot be trusted because they are told to lie from management.   Cedar Fair management puts their employees in a bad position when they tell them to lie.  Like when they close the park for low attendance, and mgmt tells employees to lie and say it is weather.

Having worked for two Cedar Fair parks, my coworkers and I were never instructed by our superiors to lie to guests.

  14. More weekend operations: events that could be held regardless of ride schedules. I’m talking about food festivals in Soak City on the weekends in November and March so that way it doesn’t interfere with the off-season maintenance that the dry park goes through. Even extending Winterfest on weekends after New Years and keeping the winter theme going would give people something to do-limited attractions running of course.

Haunt Thursdays: I believe CP does HalloWeekends from Thursday-Sunday. I wouldn’t mind seeing extended Haunt dates in order to maybe disperse crowds.

The theme of my idea is basically extended seasons with different offerings.

The back train position, which is needed to run a full six car train was cut as a part of the recent budget cuts. Two train operations on Sundays was also recently cut, and two train operations on Fridays was cut last within the past year.

Here’s my argument: the train is more than just a ride- it’s a service for guests. When the main park and the waterpark are open, even if they’re running one train, there should be six passenger cars. On Monday I saw parents struggling to squeeze their strollers onto the train since there wasn’t enough room. Sure you could walk to the waterpark via Planet Snoopy but sometimes people are tired and just want to sit for a little bit. And that’s another thing- there’s not nearly enough benches in the station for guests who need to sit. Sure they could sit outside of the station but that’s besides the point.

I don’t usually rant, especially about my favorite ride in the park, but the cuts have been made to the train are obnoxious considering the service it provides the guests.

Here’s a rant: the train running at half capacity during 10-10 business hours is ridiculous. Imagine waiting 15 minutes to get on the train to go to Soak City only to have to wait another 15 minutes because they’re only pulling 3 passenger cars and they’re already full.

    Still running 3 cars:
