  1. All 3 of you nailed it! I was there on monday, and had a fantastic time. We abused the prices (XD), and we had a great time. We won a giant pillow pet penguin (thanks to the carnival topic), and his name is Pablo the Penguin . Im sitting on him now typing and he is HUMUNGUS!!! I was there on Monday too!! I wrote a PTR about it. My mom and I each got two slices of LaRosa's for only $4! What a deal! Plus I finally got past 100 overall rides on Vortex (rode it 12 times on 9/03) and am now at 102!
  2. Sorry in advance for the double post. From Labor Day, September 3rd: (note: all of these were said by the same op) "Enjoy your ride on the best coaster in the world: The Vortex!!" Op: "Welcome back, Train 1! How was your ride?" Riders: "WOOOHOOOYEAH!!!" Op: "Wicked Twister! Push down and pull up on your restraint, exit to the left and enjoy the rest of your day at Kings Dominion.........Island.........Point...whatever." Op: "I win." (he and another op were checking the restraints on a Vortex train that was tested after a technical delay. He finished checking his side of the train first) Other op: "But it was never a race!" Op: "That's what the losers always say." That's only a few of them.
  3. How in the world did a simple post of mine cause all this? I'm a she, and it's much more than "perhaps." Now if we can eventually get back on the REAL topic here... BFF, still wondering.
  4. Yes, you do get some air in the front. But 6-2 and 7-1 are my absolute favorites when it comes to airtime. (Those seats literally pull you over the top of the first hill and through the inversions) And yes, 5-1 is the smoothest row. Very glad that you're trying Vortex again! Like Original said, (and what is in fanofFirehawk's signature) the back is where it's at.
  5. You MARATHONED Vortex?!?!?! On a Friday night in August? I am SOOOOO envious. I LOOOOVE marathoning Vortex. If I do go to KI tomorrow (September 3rd), I hope I'll be able to do some. If I don't, at least October will have some great days. Glad you enjoyed Vortex, the other rides, and the Backyard BBQ thing. Sounds like you had a lot of fun! EDIT: I remember my very first marathon on Vortex. It was in the evening of Sunday, September 26, 2010. I was 11 years old at the time. There was literally NO ONE waiting in the station. The ops were actually inviting me to stay on if I wanted. Meanwhile, the other passengers were getting off. I was the only one who stayed on, so for the rest of the evening, I had AN ENTIRE TRAIN all to myself! I will forever treasure that memory as I continue my riding on Vortex to this day. (What are the odds that someone will see an 11 year old on an entire Vortex train she has all to herself?) Ahh, good times, good times indeed.
  6. I, too, am shocked, even though I have only seen his posts (while lurking around on the boards, before I joined). I agree, it is quite tough when someone loses his/her life to cancer. Praying for his family and close friends.
  7. ^Really? I live about an hour away from KI. I don't know for sure yet, but there is a chance I might be going tomorrow. (I'll post a PTR if I go!!) Must be great having tons of things available to buy for only $1 each! I agree that the park should do things like these more often.
  8. I believe "he" is a she. Original's right. I'm a she. A young teenage she, perhaps.
  9. Vortex is not necessarily rough to me, and I'm a young 5'5" tall teenager! Sure, some of that previous sentence was my opinion, but still...(i know how to ride it just right!)
  10. For me, I don't necessarily have limits, but the rides with the most consecutive rides I've managed to do (I can do a bigger number in the future) are as follows: Vortex: 13 18 (and I STILL felt fine! Maybe its 'cause of younger age) Diamondback: 10 Viper (DL): 10 Loch Ness Monster: 6 (it was crowded at BGW the day I went there) Like I said before, it is pretty likely that I may surpass those records of mine in the future (or at least attempt to)
  11. Wow. I once had a dream I was riding Vortex, except the restraint was a piece of string. And that dream occurred BEFORE I started riding it in real life! (had the dream in either '08 or '09, and I started riding in 2010). Weird huh?
  12. I actually gasped when I read that. lol EDIT: double post. sorry. I was not thinking right about that, so I ended up with a second post instead of it all being in the first one.
  13. ^Original, how'd you guess?? Beastie1980, sorry that you didn't enjoy Vortex...but other than that I liked your report.
  14. ^There's also a Rock-O-Plane at Coney Island in Cincy. About the topic, I agree that any small upside down flat ride nowadays would be a bit better.
  15. note: double post! sorry in advance. It's been a long, long time, but I finally got around to uploading some pictures from the trip, along with a video I took in AE's station when the fireworks started at 10pm. EDIT: The video won't post! This one was taken when my three friends and I were watching Thunder Alley. I'm on the far right. 16. Once again, sorry for triple posting, although I seem to be the only one posting at the moment! (I can't resist! I take great pics, I know THAT)
  17. I've never been to Great Adventure. Enjoyed the details and insights of the rides that you posted. Glad you had a great adventure!
  18. Really liked your TR. Great stuff. (I was at KI on the same day last year, 8/22/11!)
  19. I got suspicious when it said that Vortex "delivers jolting blows to the chin and neck." Seriously, I've never experienced anything close to that on Vortex. A few might have, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE would experience it that way...
  20. I found three commercials of Magnum from 1989, all on YouTube:

  22. Glad you had a fine time at CP, despite the problems with TTD and Magnum.
  23. sorry for double post but I have some more! Vortex on October 16, 2011 Delirium on October 9, 2011 Diamondback on October 16, 2011
  24. Back in April on the 10th I was at Kings Dominion. When I was getting in line and getting on Anaconda a few minutes before the park closed at 6, the ops were singing Ke$ha songs. As the train was leaving the station I could tell they were truly having a good time. In addition, when the train arrived back at the station, one of them said, "How was your ride?" in a normal tone of voice, quickly followed by another op saying the same thing in an utterly crazy fashion. Everyone was laughing, including me.
  25. Really? Then again, the lines were shorter by a bit on 10/02/11 than 10/30/11.
