  1. I don't recall seeing WindSeeker going up at all! Question for YOU, VortexBFForever, if you had the opportunity, how many times in a row COULD you ride Vortex? I had either 10 or 11 rides on Diamondback, maybe I saw you? I don't know that we've met before. But yeah, that sure was a fun day!
  2. Decided to take the kids to Kings Island on the day that was forecasted rain and storms all day. Husband wanted no part of it. Walked up to the gate at 10:30 and when we scanned our cards, the guy was really concerned that my name came up as Matthew and really didn't want us to get in. For years, the four of us have the wrong name come up on our passes. My son is "Lucy", etc. and in the dozens of times that we've entered the park before, nobody has cared, but this guy wouldn't let us in until he called his supervisor over who just told us to get it fixed when we get a chance. There was a light rain and after getting our photo taken, we walked to Diamondback which was pretty well empty. The only other person on our train was Beast Forever. We rode four times and in the rain it was rather brutal, had to cover our faces with the hoods on our jackets. My son, ohiocolts, then took off with Beast Forever, and Lucy and I did Boo Blasters, Backlot and Flight of Fear before going to Trick or Treat with those Dinosaurs. They let adults collect candy too! The dinosaurs were dressed up in costumes, which we thought was cute. We also collected an apple and ate those on our way to ride The Racer. Front seat because it's the best! Then we met Lucas at the FestHouse because he was hungry and didn't have any money. The Bengals game was starting and there were a handful of people in there watching it. Shared a plate of chicken tenders and fries with my girl (those chicken tenders are delicious!) and left before the Graveyard Shift show started. Another ride on BooBlasters and Diamondback on our way to HowlaPalooza. My daughter is 11 and really too big for a lot of the stuff there, but the best thing for us was the petting zoo. We saw the llamas, goats, ducks, silkie chickens, tortoise, kangaroo, etc. and fed many of them. We took the train back to the park and rode Diamondback another 5 times. The rain had been stopped for awhile and there was still hardly anybody in the park so we got to just stay on and ride to our heart's content. I was starting to wonder what Lucas was doing, so we got off Diamondback and as I went to check my phone, he was calling me. He said "Mom? Hi, it's Lucas." He sounded kinda funny, like he was in trouble or something. Then he said "I'm on stage. At the magic show." Then another voice said "Hi! This is the magician." I said "Is this Ed?" And sure enough, my son and Ed Alonzo were calling me together live from stage. Apparently, that show's audience was so small that the closest thing he could get to a willing young boy to be his assistant was my teenage son! It's a bummer that I missed seeing it, Lucy and I took another ride or two on Boo Blasters and then it was starting to rain. It was 4:00 and we stopped at Guest Services to get our names fixed on our passes and then we went home. Glad we went! The rain really wasn't too bad. We didn't wait in line for ANYTHING!
  3. I remember seeing that shirt a couple rows behind us! (Hi!)
  4. This could be done in the early morning, then head over to Stricker's later on, their rides don't start running until 1:00.
  5. Yes, you'll pay the difference between what you actually paid for the gold pass and the then-current price of a platinum pass. So if you upgrade next year, your total cost will be equal to whatever the full price of platinum is next year. As others have said, it would be cheaper to buy platinum now while it's on sale if you think there is a strong chance that you will get to other Cedar Fair parks next year. Transmitted from Wild Space via my datapad's DROID brain Problem is, husband does not like to make plans much ahead of time. I'd hate to spend the extra money and then not actually go anywhere else. And we'd have to go what, at least 3 days to another park to make it worthwhile? And multiply the cost times 4 for each family member. Wasn't it a few years ago that there wasn't 'platinum' passes, but the gold pass was automatically good for all the different parks? 6 years ago, my husband was laid off and we had the pass to go to multiple parks, so while we didn't have so much money, we had a little more time, we packed up the camper and visited 2 or 3 of the parks.
  6. If I renew my Gold Pass for 2014, then next summer, if I decide that I have the time and money to do some travelling to other parks, is it true I can just pay the difference and turn my Gold into Platinum at any time?
  7. It's so fun when they grow up! And new shoes can do wonders for their height! Glad you had fun! One ride on Drop Tower was more than enough for me as well!
  8. There was a train, I didn't realize there was a bridge so I walked over that. 16 minutes, 24.5 seconds!!!!! Now we know.
  9. I'd rather not walk through the parking lot. I just thought, what if I get stopped by a train at the crossing? Can I pause the stopwatch?
  10. I would be shocked if it took me an hour. When my son got in line for Drop Tower once (which I don't ride), I took a quick walk to Rivertown LaRosa's and back and it only took me 15 minutes. Two things:1. Why didn't you go to the Festhaus LaRosa's? 2. How fast were you walking? It took me 15 minutes to get from the Festhaus to Rivertown Pizza. I wasn't going for pizza, just taking a walk while my son got in the Drop Tower line that he estimated to be 15 minutes. I walked for 7.5 minutes, was at the pizza place in Rivertown, turned around and walked up to Drop Tower just as he was exiting. I was walking pretty fast.

  12. I'll be at Kings Island by myself for awhile tomorrow and wonder how long it would take to walk from Flight Deck's station to Mondo Monsoon in Soak City. I'd like to find out. Any guesses? I'll walk at a rather fast pace.
  13. I rode it first in May of 1993 during the high school post-prom trip. The entire queue line was filled. I must have waited in line for 2, possibly 3 hours with my boyfriend. We were married 4 years later!
  14. Thanks for the info! Our family is heading to Myrtle Beach next month and I'm thinking the kids will want to spend some time at Family Kingdom. We've been to Myrtle Beach several times, but never to the amusement park. There is so much to do there!
  15. My favorite pictures were from Flight of Fear! Thank you for sharing! I can't believe I've ridden that and never actually seen it before.
  16. Nice photos! Today's weather was fantastic!
  17. Glad you enjoyed your day! Too bad you have a cranky sister!
  18. My two least favorites are the only ones that I actually know how many times I've ridden them (1 each, enough to know I don't care to ride it again) **Son of Beast** **Drop Tower** And much to my delight, nobody can ever drag me back onto Son of Beast!!!
  19. I had to drive my son, Lucas, to Kings Island early, to arrive there by 7:00 am for Coasting for Kids. Since there wasn’t much for my daughter, Lucy, and I to do there at that hour, we went to Cracker Barrel and enjoyed breakfast there and browsing the store before going back for ERT. We first did Diamondback, then Backlot, then when the rope dropped we went over to Flight of Fear, Zephyr, and Bumper Cars. Most of the cars hadn’t left their overnight parking spots yet, and we did a couple rounds in the rumored-to-be-fast cars #35 and #9. I’d say #35 is the faster of the two and it is not wise to collide the two head-on. We went over to The Racer and I wanted to take a picture of Lucas doing the Coasting for Kids thing, and while I was waiting for him to come by, my daughter got mad at me and went and rode the other side by herself. Then we did Adventure Express and Boo Blasters. Lucy’s friend and her family were coming and going to meet us in Soak City in the afternoon. We ate a packed lunch in the car, then went in Tidal Wave Bay for about 45 minutes. That was enough water stuff for me. Our friends finally came and the kids ran off and we lounged around and talked for a couple of hours. It was cloudy, then started to sprinkle, I thought the Funbrellas would be fine to stay dry under, but one of the workers was coming around and closing them all. It was starting to rain harder and we didn’t know where the kids were. We went over to the train station and after awhile they arrived on the next train. To my horror, Lucy was holding a brown balloon animal puppy!!! The friends left and we drove back to the main park and waited in a short line for the front seat on the Blue Racer before meeting Lucas and other Coasting for Kids participants at 6:30. They went off to ride The Beast and we split again. We hadn’t had any dinner, so we got some blue ice cream and sat under the Woodstock Whirlybirds. Then we did Boo Blasters a couple more times and ran into Lucas and jcgoble3 on our way to the bumper cars. Lucas joined up with us for the bumper cars, Zephyr (where we saw Mrs. Gator) and WindSeeker, but apparently we were cramping his style and Lucas left us again. We did a couple rides on The Racer, Adventure Express and my daughter did White Water Canyon. Before we left, we were sitting on a bench and a stranger, with 5 dollar bills in his hand, walked by and said they had flown out of my daughter’s ear and he was returning them. We had been unaware that there was money flying out of her ears, but we certainly appreciated the kind stranger’s help.
  20. I met Browntggrr after the show too, with ohiocolts! We were excited to see the KIC shirt go bravely up on stage! I enjoyed the show, but also feel that last year's was better somehow. Is this year's shorter? I love Bob the Duck and got one of his feathers.
  21. We just left there. @FoF Sorry we missed you at the Arcade! You must have gone out in that crazy heavy rain! We were attempting to avoid it. I was the one who said "hi" to you after the Ed Alonzo show, with ohiocolts in the KIC shirt. Great job in the show, by the way! Did he really throw that last knife? First time we've seen it.
  22. Stuck inside the Coney Arcade. It's pouring.
  23. I had a great time with you, ohiocolts! You were in a good place, waiting for Flight of Fear during those storms - I was huddled with the sister and her friend during that time at the entrance gate. That wind, rain and lightning was fierce! Kelly was the waitress at the Reds Grille - great service! We will ask to sit in her section again. Only thing I didn't really enjoy that night was my wet feet. I was very tempted to utilize the family dryer, but it kept drizzling for a long time so I figured I'd get wet again right away so I didn't bother.
