  1. So having never attended Grand Carnivale and with it coming back around in a few weeks, did they offer the specialty menu items as part of the meal plan in the past? Just wondering what the likelihood of that being the case this go round would be.
  2. I realize that people hate seeing dangerous situations not being responded to in the manner in which they feel they should be. But a mass panic attack isn't going to help anyone. Getting the ride shut down was the obvious right answer, but I really hate seeing the over-blown media coverage make something of this manner out to be some lethal death trap experience. And then the general public makes up a bunch of garbage that never happened and next thing you know everyone is talking about how "somebody died". I know darn well anyone here in the enthusiast community always feels like they're correcting misinformation from those speaking about incidents that never happened while waiting in line with others
  3. Seems like its been a tough go for Cedar Fair with these high profile rides having some kind of crazy thing happening to them. It will be interesting to see what comes of the investigation with Fury if any of that info ever becomes available to the public. I'm thankful this didn't go as terribly as it could have. It feels like from the news articles that are currently available there is a lot of dismissive-ness, but I suppose that's to be expected while investigations are being conducted.
  4. A couple of Saturdays ago while waiting for the front row on Banshee, some girl in front of me did not realize that the screaming coming from the top of the lift was not a live human, but a speaker. It took her way too long to realize this. I facepalmed so hard.
  5. So what are everyone's thoughts about this weekend? There are A LOT of factors coming into play this weekend. -Holiday weekend. Granted the actual 4th falls on a Tuesday this year, many will be celebrating this weekend I'm sure -Taylor Swift concert in Cincinnati tomorrow and Saturday-I wouldn't be surprised if some of these folks make their way to the park this weekend before or after the concert -On the other end of the spectrum, the air quality could also play a role in keeping people inside this weekend and many might just skip going to the park all together
  6. If they keep the ride around for awhile longer it would be nice to see them bring back the water feature for the sign. Water effects always seem to add a little something special to attractions. Even if it's just for the sign.
  7. Something about seeing this photo of the station all lit up at night just floods my mind with so many memories. Thanks for sharing this.
  8. I also gave the enchiladas a whirl this past Saturday and they were actually quite good. The red sauce was nice and hearty with a good flavor and the chicken was seasoned just right! I'd give them a 7.5/10 I'll have to give the brewhouse special a go next time although I am quite partial to the BBLT over there
  9. I would love to see them add even a couple of non-water rides. I realize this will most likely never happen as they made their decisions, but even if they had a few pay-per attractions like say a family style go-kart track and a speed track for more serious kart racers. Maybe a sling-shot ride or sky coaster. A 3/4-D theater. Just something else to do for those that may not care to spend their day in the water. And if those kinds of attractions were added, run like a specials day for those pay per attractions in the case of "$40 ride all you want from 4-8" or a set wrist band price after hours.
  10. I would totally purchase a SoB pen or bottle opener made of the old leftover wood. I'm still incredibly proud of my piece of track that I purchased back in 2012, so having something cool made from the leftover wood I'd appreciate as a bonus piece. Also, my brain immediately went into thinking how rough that small section of leftover wooden track inside the station would feel going over it after all these years! not that it was much smoother when maintained, but still. On that note, my final ride on in I remember it being one of the best rides I had ever had on it and a week or two later he was shut down forever from the injury claims.
  11. I hope you have a great time. I haven't been to CW since 2008. I have family up there and they are passholders, so I suppose I need to make a return visit at some point myself.
  12. Went for a short visit last night to ride Sol Spin and I’ve honestly gotta say it’s my new favorite flat ride. Loved being able to stick my arms and legs out and feel like I was flying. I was able to get a late daytime ride and a night ride. They were having some technical issues with it and we weren’t sure if a second ride was going to occur, but maintenance worked diligently to get it going and we were able to secure an awesome night experience. The whole area feels awesome. The new flats are a welcome addition and the extra love given to the classic AE is wonderful. If this kind of theming is something that will come along with future installations, I think we’re all in for a treat. Cedar Fair is really stepping it up.
  13. As someone who has been an avid goer of the park the better part of 20+ years now, I have never done the water park. I have walked around in it once with a friend, but never actually rode anything. My early years of going to KI were mainly focused on the dry side and I suppose that has always been my primary focus in general. And the thing is, I actually enjoy water parks as a whole, I just usually don't do them for one reason or another ( normally I find them to be awfully crowded ). But this year I have decided to want to give it a try especially since I have all season Fast Lane I figured that would help some with the attractions that offer it. So what are everyone's favorite attractions at the water park and why? Just trying to get a feel for what to expect. Definitely going to try everything if possible, but just wanting to get a general idea. TYIA.
  14. Any updates on the status of Orion? Really hoping it'll be back up and running by Friday
  15. May have to consider this next season when renewing!
  16. I just wanted to add that I had my first Bat flight of the season yesterday and it was marvelous. Felt smooth and super speedy to me. Rode in the front car and enjoyed every second of it. Thankful we still have our little Arrow Suspended coaster and that the park takes such good care of her.
  17. After watching a few videos of this coaster, it definitely looks like a lot of fun. I still stand by my statement of it being a novelty experience but it definitely looks like a great time. I think the layout appears to be a more realistic chain of events that most riders can handle comfortably vs the longer and more intense layouts of stand-ups past. The airtime moments on this thing where folks literally come up off of their feet looks crazy fun.
  18. I never got to ride T2/3 or have yet to make my way to Kentucky Kingdom, but I honestly feel this isn't much of a loss. The one and only Vekoma SLC I have ridden was Canada's Wonderland's Top Gun/Flight Deck and it beat the heck out of me. I had gotten my ear cartilage pierced a few months prior to my visit and by the time the ride was over both ears were bleeding and I was in a lot of pain. I still have the on-ride video of the torment too. Mainly bought it so my little cousin would have the memory. And I know I am probably one of the few Vekoma fans, but the old SLCs are not it.
  19. My fiancé and I decided to give Grain and Grill a go as we were excited about trying it. The overall experience wasn't terrible but we both felt that there is room for improvement. I will give the wiggle room seeing as it's in its infancy still and has plenty of time to become great. We both got something different as we were feeling different tastes that day as well as wanting to be able to try stuff from each other's plate. I got the rosemary beef with perogies and naan. The fiancé got the chicken, brussels sprouts and focaccia bread. The Good: brussels sprouts were tasty and on point, full of flavor and honestly the star of the show Both the naan and focaccia bread were delicious and enjoyable Perogies were enjoyable, warm and comforting like little potato pillows The Mid: The beef wasn't terrible, just wish it had been a bit more tender and had a bit more flavor. There was a hint of flavor, but not enough for me to be like "wow" The Bad: The chicken was honestly disappointing. Not a ton of flavor and it was not cooked all the way through. This has been a theme amongst others that have had the chicken that we have noticed. Really hoping they will fix that issue and eventually go with chicken breast at some point with more seasoning. Overall, Grain and Grill is not a bad place. It left us with a lot to be desired, but again, it's in infancy stage so I will forgive it some. Just hoping as time goes on they can provide a more consistent experience.
  20. The socks are so cool and honestly I would rock a few of those, but $25 is a bit too steep. If they were $10, absolutely. Even $12 I could hack. Just not the price point of say a T-Shirt or plushie.

I still can't help but reference Johnny 5 from Short Circuit any time I hear/read this
  22. Great video! I was actually literally just thinking about this very thing the other day. I would really love to see another one of these monsters open up state side but I think the chances of that happening are pretty slim to none. But one can dream. If one made it to KI, that would truly be incredible. Something of this caliber on this side of the continent would really blow people's minds.
  23. It will be interesting to see if they decide to make any positive changes this year. It is still the beginning of the season and I try really hard to give some grace for new things, but seeing as they had a bit of a trial run with it near the middle end of last season and all off season to smooth out some of the bumps, its just a bit jarring and it appears to be an incredibly anemic offering for those that paid the extra bucks for what they felt were initially great benefits. As I've said before, I really feel bad for folks who got these passes in hopes of getting a great experience out of them but instead are being treated to things they could get literally anywhere else. And like most of you have said, if they do not make any concrete, realistic and money-worthy changes, I do not see most people wanting to renew this level of pass. And that's even if CF brings it back.
  24. Sounds like they are trying to retain some of the magic from last year and that makes me quite happy. It will be interesting to see how this one will be set up compared to last year and what the run time will be.
  25. When you think about it, the Festhaus is essentially a lounge anyways with climate control, TVs and live entertainment as well as food/drink. Granted food and drinks are not included with the experience and it can get a little crowded at times, its still essentially a lounge that no one had to pay extra for. Just a thought *shurgs* Also, it would have been cool had Cedar Fair done something like Hershey Park with a swag bag. Some magnets, a cup, some other kind of trinket inside a drawstring bag. Just something to show appreciation to the upgraded pass holders or even long time passholders.
