  1. Ok guys, I'm going to vent a little because I love KI and care enough to take time to read and write some of these posts like the rest of you, so...... If all of this evidence is true, it confirms what I have been saying all along: Cedar Fair DOES NOT want Kings Island to have "wow-worthy" record breaking attractions! This would diminish what CF has been doing with big brothers up north AND down South. Case in CPoint-They had a chance to break all of the records with Banshee, which was the first inverted coaster installed in the US in almost 10 years, but still chose not to. They could've easily spent a little extra money to pull out all of the stops and build something they could really market as a world record breaker in ALL categories. Yes, I know it is "the longest" invert, but nobody really cares about that, especially when the only reason it's probably "the longest" is because of it's super long break run! Also, notice how they made sure it was still 3 feet less in height than GateKeeper, which is a similar ride ( same restraints, feet dangle, etc) that opened the season before Banshee at CP. They didn't want to steal any of GateKeeper's thunder so to speak. Notice how Mystic Timbers was underwhelming compared to Steel Vengeance opening a year after at Cedar Point. Diamondback is a great ride, but Cedar Fair still made sure that Intimidator at Carowinds was 2 feet taller when it opened a year after DB. They had a chance to break Fury's record and yet what does it look like they've done.....build a coaster that may not even be as good as Leviathan. Don't get me wrong, I like Leviathan, but I just thought there was so much more potential here to improve on it and Fury as well for that matter, especially with all of the land KI has at it's disposal. I know this doesn't sound like much, but it does add up to one conclusion- Cedar Fair has a game-plan, and that game-plan is to build the higher, faster coasters at CP and Carowinds because that's where they think it will get the most return on their investment. I do think CF is missing out on an opportunity here, though. KI has a similar potential as Carowinds IMO. They just need something they can market to get people here from afar, similar to what Vortex did when opening as the world's highest coaster with the most inversions in the world. It helped KI reach 3 million plus visitors for the first time ever with those lofty records! Although i'm sure they will still try to use their marketing magic with this new seemingly lacking "discount giga" by somehow using another Jedi marketing mind trick like they did with The Shed trying to get people to the park. I'm sure it will work to an extent with the non-coaster nerds (unlike us), but word of mouth is still the most powerful form of marketing, and i'm sure when most of the people are underwhelmed by riding this, the word will spread that KI built yet another good, but not great attraction, compared to CP and Carowinds. With all of this being said, I.hope.I'm.wrong!
  2. If they are indeed willing to go 355 feet high, I would hope they would go just a little higher to beat Red Force.
  3. Maybe a 355 lift with a 408 drop, if it drops into that clearing towards the Little Miami, like I think it's going to because there is a approx. 70 foot elevation change from the former Firehawk site to the aforementioned clearing. So that could give it the extra footage to drop. Also a reach, but hopeful.
  4. Yes, if you look at the dates the day of the weeks fall on, that is a 2020 calendar and behind the rocket looking coffee pot is a number on that calendar that looks to read "355".
  5. Yes, I saw the pic on here, I believe. It had the 2020 calendar, and had the number 355 on it. I think a lot of people on here saw it too. Hopefully, someone can reference the Winterfest pics and post it. I know it was the one with Santa C on it.
  6. The Christmas posters in FoF during Winterfest had an astral type of theme and hinted at 2020 and 355.
  7. After looking at waltny's pic from the ET, you can see the digging. If that is for the transfer track, that should give us an idea of where the station is going to go.
  8. Where did you see the other stakes?
  9. Thanks for the pics and info. Looks like they are cleaning it up for surveying stage. They may be clearing out more down the hill that's hard to see from ET.
  10. Yeah, try to ride WindSeeker and see if clearing goes back any further. Too hard to tell with all the leaves on trees now.
  11. I believe Fred Grubb was at KI and that he was there because RMC will be the next project after the B&M Giga. Makes sense that RMC will most likely be KI's next coaster, especially how much Cedar Fair has been working with RMC. I also believe it will be a ground up of some kind, although, It probably won't open until somewhere between 2023-2025. Makes sense too because the planning for these coasters usually take 5-7 years and he was allegedly spotted there last year.
  12. I think the first drop will be located in those clearings and make a turn back up to the clearing close to The Racer. It's actually a significant amount of space, couple with they added on to a clearing that was already there makes me think they are making enough room for the amount of space needed for the long drop and turn.
  13. I think it will be something like this. If you closely, the first part of the clearing heading back towards The Racer closest to maintenance sheds is angled toward the clearing back behind former FH land.
  14. Anyone think the clearing towards the Little Miami will be used for the coaster? They obviously cleared some more land directly behind former Firehawk land.
  15. I'm not sure I like the fact the this coaster will possibly come that close to The Beast. I think that area needs to be left alone so Beast can keep its secluded feel.
  16. I think we also still have to consider that there is new clearing directly behind Firehawk's former location as well. The first drop of this new coaster could drop into that new clearing towards the Little Miami, then make a sharp turn left where the clearing is at SOB's former helix site and up to all of the open space behind Banshee. Something else to consider is that all of the new clearing in the former DA area could be for an X-Base expansion of some kind. Hence the possible new maintenance building to replace the old ones .
  17. Or the cones are there to conceal survey markers. Probably not, but a possibility.
  18. Was at the park today and was underwhelmed by the fountains. Seems like a downgrade marketed to be an upgrade. The old fountains had much more of a "grand" look. These seem weak to me. On a positive note, I do like how they extended the platform out towards the fountains and I do like the new pavers and open look. Just wished they would've left the fountains alone.
  19. Anyone think the structure being built is part of the plan to move one or all of the maintenance sheds to expand X-Base?
  20. That still doesn't look like nearly enough space for a giga. Definitely looks like the perfect size for a huge wing coaster, though.
  21. I agree. That clearing looks more like an expansion of some kind to me. The new maintenance buildings may be moved there to make room for a whole new area where the current maintenance buildings sit. That would free up the big area adjacent to x-base.
  22. If the lift hill approaches the Little Miami, that clearing makes sense because that would probably be the area for the drop and sharp turn to the left towards all of that open space behind Banshee, or it could be for more storage buildings. I guess we'll see.
  23. That appears to be new clearing. If you look closely, it looks like they took it past the brown terrain and cleared more to the left.
