  1. Yes, you should be excited. Your children will likely have way more fun and make more memories on these cars than they would on a giant coaster that they wouldn’t be able to ride for years to come.
  2. I thought RMC was no longer offering topper track on existing coasters. Only “from the ground up” projects.
  3. ^ I know they don’t take responsibility, however how much of an argument would it take to make them assume responsibility if a device they provided to protect loose articles didn’t function properly. It would be similar to having a locker that failed to stay closed. Would the park then be forced to take responsibility assuming the guest used to device provided properly?
  4. I think the only reason the parks wouldn’t want to put in pouches vs the bins that are already offered at most rides would be if the pouch failed or didn’t work at all, the guest would easily be able to make the park buy them a new whatever due to faulty equipment. If they use the bins and another guest messes with it, the park has no responsibility.
  5. Maybe that was what I’m thinking of. It still looked good at that point thougH
  6. ^ I believe it had a new paint job the year WindSeeker was put in. It’s not likely they do it again so soon.
  7. I remember a certain ride in Rivertown that wasn’t going anywhere due to improved music effects, queue line improvements, and lighting upgrades. We all know where that is now.
  8. You all had to manually release each section on Vortex? Granted, the only 2 train coaster I’ve operated was lightning run and all you had to do was hold down the dispatch button to both release train 1, hold until train 2 comes to a stop.
  9. Oh it will always work. Getting it up and running in the morning however... the parts reference was for something with the E-Stop. It would still run fine in 2014, but if you pressed the E-Stop all the hydraulic pressure would escape too fast and the arm basically fell over.
  10. To quote the mechanics that worked on Enterprise “I hope they rip the thing out, it’s a huge pain in the *** to work on and the parts take forever to get here”.
  11. I seriously doubt they are relocating it. The one at KK was supposed to reopen in 2014 but due to a supply issue of a part the ride couldn’t open until 2015.
  12. I haven’t been there in two years, so not sure how it’s doing now. when it first reopened, it was every bit as smooth as Mystic imo.
  13. http://m.wave3.com/wave/db_336805/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=9HveaELX I’m surprised this hasn’t been posted yet. Incident on Mile High Falls today.
  14. If they were to do any work on The Racer, it would probably be standard retrack. They performed a miracle on Thunder Run. It was so very rough under the Six Flags ownership but it came back running really well.
  15. I thought they had said that they are only offering topper track from the ground up from a certain point in the past. Meaning any conversion must be ibox
  16. The KK version of the planes, Flutterfly, where you have to pedal to go up. There was an override switch on the panel which made all bikes or whatever they were go all the way up. I tried to do it at least once a cycle if I saw a kid struggling to get up. On the flip side if there was both a struggling kid and one that really wanted to stay at the bottom, I would still probably raise them up, ya know live a little.
  17. Lol when I worked at Kentucky Kingdom, the last place in the entire park I wanted to be was kiddie land. Not only were the rides extremely boring to watch, but you had to deal with “helicopter moms”.
  18. I visited Holiday World last weekend and noticed a few things since my last visit. Not sure if they were announced or not. Waterpark was just as fun as always. Hallow Swings has a new lighting package. They ditched the old style lights and went full led, there is much less flashing than before. All 3 of the woodies were running fairly smooth, the Raven was the roughest out of the 3 while Voyage was running really well along with Legend. The Legends bell that is usually rung when leaving the station is either broken or there was a group of operators that just didn’t feel like ringing it. I even specifically asked on my second ride, one said they took it out completely, which was false, as it was clearly visible on the brake run on the way back in and the other one said it broke. I’m not sure how a bell breaks unless the rope just dry rotted through and they haven’t replaced it yet.
  19. What I will say is that if there is one thing Kentucky Kingdom is consistent on, it is the Ride Lite policy. Their coasters don’t have mics on the lifts like Kings Islands do, so the last opportunity to communicate is in the station. While I was there, there was only one time I was able to justify stopping a ride already in progress. A guest pulls an iPad out from his shirt. How tf does anyone think it is remotely ok or safe to pull out an iPad while on a coaster. The same guest had the nerve to attempt to say they weren’t going to hand it to the technician responsible for ensuring the ride was safe before restarting it. The tech made the joke to me “he was lucky I was in a good mood or I would have said fine I’m going to start walking down this lift hill and go to the engine room, I’ll start it back up once I hear it hit the ground.”
  20. That’s almost the equivalent of Kings Island Diamondback rollercoaster strands riders! When it was halfway onto the lift and half on the tires. Then following that up with something like “Young boy fell from Eiffel Tower many years ago at Kings Island” im just glad they determined it was the result of a computer error and not poor maintenance. I’m not sure how they would have had any idea about the error unless the computer told them which obviously it didn’t or the ride would have e-stopped itself.
  21. I love the last paragraph of the article since we are talking about T3.
  22. Per KK Facebook page, T3 was operational today.
  23. There is a brake area on the backside parallel to the amphitheater which brings it to a complete stop. The train then slowly makes a 90 degree turn into the transfer brake area which is normally where it waits while one is in station. Then after another 90 degree turn there is the station. It sounds like train 1 was stationary on the transfer area while train 2 either overshot or was released from the second break run.
  24. T3 has a 0 car, only it’s mounted to the rear. I would think the people in the train that got hit would be more shaken up because they couldn’t see it coming.
