  1. That's how many Japanese companies perform business. In my line of work we sometimes get new machines to replace old ones during a machining retooling, production capacity expansion, or as part of a new contact with companies we supply parts to. However our "new" machines are usually many months old and have been through run offs, testing, debugging, and qualification prior to being broken into smaller pieces for shipment across the Pacific Ocean.
  2. I also think the current color resembles weathered copper, and actually recently wondered if the tower would ever be painted darker (as part of a possible International Street/Royal Fountain updating). My perception is that Kings Island goes above and beyond the minimum when adding attractions, so I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.
  3. I went to school literally next door to this establishment but never went inside. It has been there as long as I can remember, and probably much longer.
  4. I've wanted to visit Pripyat for years. Due to finances, commitments, and politics I haven't put a real effort into trying to go. Also, there is absolutely no upkeep there and the place is crumbling so it's almost certain that I'll never make it.
  5. My best personal credit was Banshee. Overall, my best credit and favorite memory is probably SR&R with my family near the beginning of the season before it went down. After my first couple visits 2014 was a very down year for me at Kings Island between a very heavy work load, an incident at the park mid season*, and other factors. I did bring my daughter this fall for a final round of rides and made her day so it did end on a decidedly positive note. * I won't elaborate in this thread. If you're curious search my posts, I've been much less active recently and it should be easy to find.
  6. When I was a kid my family would occasionally stay there for a night or two, typically in the winter because they had an indoor pool for us to play in. It was close to our house and gave us something to do when going outside wasn't the greatest idea.
  7. I understand how it worked. I guess I should have asked, was the water side "great taste", "less filling", or was it dependant on whoever started chanting one or the other randomly?
  8. Was one side of the ride assigned as "great taste" and the other "less filling"? I seem to remember this going on, vaguely.
  9. Some say it already rattles.
  10. Thank you for making me feel like I didn't imagine that. All this talk about something that won't happen any time soon was making my head spin.

    Next New Ride?

I agree that all of Coney Mall deserves a makeover. It's just that the far end makes me incredibly sad with all the empty flat ride spots. At least on the other end there are games, shops, and classic rides.

    Next New Ride?

I still think Coney Mall needs attention, especially around SR&R. Look at Cedar Point and Knott's recent midway work and lighting packages. The pavers were a great step forward when they were installed, now we need to reach the next level.
  13. True story. Any time I've ever planned on riding FoF it is my first stop at opening, after ERT.
  14. Wasn't opening day yesterday?
  15. A personal friend used to work this particular game. He told me the secret once he moved on to another job, though I've never tried to prove what he said. For what it's worth I have seen multiple demonstrations by this person trying to coax people in for the chance to win a fabulous prize.
  16. Say what you want about me but I feel that it brings less mannered, more rude patrons who normally would skip the park; AKA cheap skates and those looking for the next best thing to a hand out who splurge because they can. With that said I'm sure there are some good people who cannot otherwise afford to spend much money at all in the park and may come rarely if ever. It could be their family's biggest event of the year. Because of that, it's a great idea but the mob mentality around the deals makes it a no go for me.
  17. Corky Miller IS baseball. As far as dollar days go, no thanks.
  18. I probably won't ever visit because of personal reasons that could cross political and/or religious boundaries if I elaborate further.
  19. I really like the layout of this coaster and how it makes Intimidator look small by comparison. Cedar Fair gets it when it comes to rides and presenting a good first impression at a park's entrance.
  20. How was Busch Gardens Tampa not on that list? Am I that biased toward it?
  21. The majority of people would not appreciate a gesture such as this. Those that would probably wouldn't care which ride it was on. -Edit- Went back and started reading the article and my first sentence is basically a disclaimer in the first paragraph.
  22. In my case, the issue was going to be taken to guest services in hopes of a better explanation of the policy and a resolution. As we entered the park a supervisor (I assume) waived the fee for the day and told us we should expect to pay the upgrade on our next visit.
  23. Yet they squeeze season pass holders mid season when their kids grow...
