  1. I think The Vortex seems pretty popular. And if it had problems and needed replacement parts, S&S, the group that bought out Arrow, would probably provide it. I don't see Vortex leaving the Island anytime soon.
  2. Didn't another company buy Traver?
  3. I too would remove the Tomb Raider building and put in an S&S Screamin' Swing, but themed to fit the Rivertown section. I would also add a PTC Cuddle Up, Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel, Intamin drunken barrels (Der Spinning Keggers), Larson Scooters, Antique Cars, Premier Rides Tilt a whirl, Huss (Hoose) Flying Dutchmans shoes ride, Tumble Bug ride (If there still is a company out there that builds them), and a Tempest.
  4. Eiffel Tower- Old floodlighting restored and used. Carousel- Wurlitzer 157 organ restored. Old faux marble design painted on the organ again. Entire ride repainted with fresh look (Same paint job, just touched up) to look like it had just been worked on by Carole Lanter (woman who was hired to repaint the rounding boards in 1969). Racer- Repainted with Red undertrack, blue rails, and white wooden structure.
  5. I agree, Coney Mall should resemble the old Coney Island in it's glory years. The Racer should be painted with red track and blue rails again, giving it a patriotic scheme, buildings and signs should be painted and given a colorful look to them, the Ginkgo trees should be maintained and trimmed down to the old shape, and also I think a small fountain should be built in the center of the mall to resemble the old European fountain built under the Skyride at Coney Island: (I do not own this photo, found off of Google) Ride wise, that area of the park needs more flats again. As I mentioned in the "If you owned Kings Island," thread, I would rip out the Additudes store and put the Cuddle Up back in that spot, because I personally think that not every area needs a gift shop or store. I don't know how popular the 3 point challenge game near the Happy Days (Jukebox) Diner is, but that spot should be the home for new flyers, a classic from old Coney. As a park enthusiast, I agree that removing the Antique Cars was a bad move made by the park. I think the park should really consider retiring the Italian Job ride and put an antique car ride back in that spot, to bring the Coney Island feeling back. Though the original car ride was built by Arrow Dynamics (Now defunct), I think a company called Gould Manufacturing is still in buisness, building rides like that. I agree with your opinion that the park should restore theming to the areas of the park. That's how I would do it.
  6. I sure hope Intamin AG isn't dying like Arrow Dynamics. I've heard some bad things about their coasters, but they have produced some good observation towers, such as the Eiffel Tower. Imagine what would happen if one of their tower rides needs replacement parts and Intamin is gone, then what would happen?
  7. If at Kings Dominion does this, I really hope Kings Island does the same. When I read that Kings Dominion was bringing the Safari back, I wondered if they would get a new monorail or if they would do what Six Flags Great Adventure did with their animal preserve (Open air trucks). They're not bringing back the Safari ride. One of that park's themed areas was "Safari Village" (similar to Kings Island's "Adventure Village"). KD's Safari Village was renamed "The Congo," as Kings Islands was re-named "Action Zone." For 2014, the name will revert to Safari Village, and the rides that area will presumably get new details, paint, etc. with a few cosmetic changes to make the reversion to the "Safari Village" theme more obvious. I see now. I have never been to Kings Dominion so I didn't really know that.
  8. If at Kings Dominion does this, I really hope Kings Island does the same. When I read that Kings Dominion was bringing the Safari back, I wondered if they would get a new monorail or if they would do what Six Flags Great Adventure did with their animal preserve (Open air trucks).
  9. I agree. The Festhaus should serve German food again. I also agree that it should be simple, such as Brats, hot dogs, and maybe even Glier's Goetta dogs (Which something I would like to see served at Kings Island). Coney Island had a hot dog stand that had a German look to it: (Not my photo, got it off of Google)
  10. As cool as Luminosity looks, some performers can have flat singing voices. Kings Island is most likely going to do what Canada's Wonderland did and revamp the International Street fountains to dance and put on a show at night.
  11. Antique Cars (There is a company that still makes these rides, as far as I know), Flying Scooters (Larson, or Premier Amusements), Cuddle Up (Philadelphia Toboggan Company, they might still make flat rides), Flying Dutchman's Shoes ride (Huss).
  12. I was very pleased when Cedar Fair brought the Bier Garten back to Oktoberfest this year. I felt very happy to see something German return to the old German area. The area's themselves need to be themed, nothing big, maybe a some background music and rides that fit the area, etc. I do not think they will go all Disney and add a huge amount of theming for every ride, but minor low cost theming (Celtic graves on Banshee).
  13. Whenever I visited the park, I would walk around the Starlight area and compare it, in my mind, with what it used to be. I was not very surprised when I heard that it's contract was not renewed.
  14. Hopefully, in 2015, we will get the treatment Cedar Point's Gemini midway got for 2014, new Flying Eagles.
  15. 2020- 15 years after its construction, the Italian Job (Backlot) would be removed. 2021- Teasers for new ride would arise on a fence surrounding the old Italian Job site. 2022- The parks 50th anniversary season. Eiffel Tower lighting upgraded, illuminated by white LED up lighting, similar to the old flood lighting. Snoopy's Splash Dance replaced by Woodstock's Rafts (I'm not very creative with naming rides), a ride similar to Gulliver's Rub-a-Dub, Race for your life Charlie Brown is renamed back to Kings Mill Log Flume and is part of Rivertown again. The Antique Car ride returns, a Philadelphia Toboggan Company roller coaster, named Cyclone, would be built around the Antique Cars. During the middle of June, a large fireworks display, marking the parks 50th birthday, would be set off. 2023- Festhaus serves German food again. S&S Space Shot tower, named Bull's-Eye, erected in Adventure Village on spot of old water tower. 2024- Basketball game near Racer entrance relocated to Adventure Village near Face/Off entrance. New Chance Aviator ride named Space Cruiser opens in that spot.
  16. 2014- Change the background music on International Street to jazz and swing music, orchestra music, and European music. 2015- Flying Dutchman would get brought back to Oktoberfest and add a Tempest ride to that area and name it Glockenspiel, speaking of that, I would have the glockenspiel on the front to the Festhaus repaired. The Wurlitzer 157 Band Organ on the carousel would also be restored. 2016- Build floral beds in Action Zone, to bring more green to that area, build an S&S Screamin' Swing and rename Action Zone back to Adventure Village. 2017- Gingko Trees in Coney Mall trimmed down back to their original shape, The Racer gets its old Patriotic color scheme back. Attitudes store replaced with a new PTC Cuddle Up. Dinosaurs Alive birthday party shelter would be relocated from Flight Commander pod and a Tilt a Whirl would be built on that spot. 3 point challenge would be removed and a new Larson Flying Scooter ride would be built. Paramount Story (Tower Gardens) would have working water pools again. Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel would be built behind WindSeeker, near The Vortex exit and Action Theater entrance. 2018- Tomb Raider building would be demolished and a would be replaced with a new lake to take the place of Swan Lake, visitors can take a canoe or a pedal boat out. The KI & MV RR would get its animatronic characters back. The leftover land behind the Banshee, once taken up by Son of Beast, would be used for a new section dedicated to family friendly rides. 2019- Soak City would feature a new water slide. A rider would enter a single person capsule, where they are shut in. The worker presses a button and a trap door would open below them, and they take a plunge to the bottom (I've seen those things in waterparks around the world and thought Kings Island should build one).
  17. Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield.
  18. Nice Decoding. Just watched it on Fox 19. Sorry I couldn't be there with you all.
  19. Kind of off topic, but judging by the size of the coaster in the blueprints and the area once taken up by Son of Beast, there looks like a lot of room for future expansion back there, if these are the real blueprints that is.
  20. Yeah, I guess the park should keep a lot of green.
  21. That's actually the kind of upgrade I expected the park to get when there where rumour's of fountain work.
  22. The area where the SSS is today could be used for flat ride locations. That grassy area could be opened up and flats could be added. But that's what I think should be done.
  23. The current music on International Street doesn't exactly display the international feeling it used to. I think music from European countries should be the backdrop of this area again. The lighting in the fountains did in fact dance in the 1980's as seen in this video around 3:50: . The lightshow I would love done at Kings Island would do this to the water features in the fountains at certain points in the music, just like the lighting. The lighting should be changed, for energy efficiency, to LED's.
  24. There is a slow moving turn table of switches with something the switches hit, flipping them and changing the effect, from what I have heard, I could be wrong. Nobody is actually doing it manually. And don't worry, I don't consider you attacking my opinion, you're just stating yours, which is okay in my book. Yes TheCrypt, The fountain was worked on under Paramount, 2003 to be exact. The type of fountain show I would like to see keeps the same layout of piping and is programmed like a pyrotechnics show. The fountains would be programmed to a soundtrack and the visual effects of the water and lighting would be effected by tempo, sound levels, and pitch changes. At certain points in the song its dancing to, the visual effects would change, but more often than they currently do with the turn table. At a quiet point, the columns of water would be small. When a crescendo hits, the whole fountain would come on. That's sort of what I would like to see.
  25. That is precisely what I mean. I would like to see a show that doesn't disturb the peacefulness of International Street. I don't mean to keep them the same as they presently are at night, but have a show that only uses the current water features but computerized to dance to the background music. I think it would be a little silly to add in more fountains when there can be a lot done with the current ones and still make an awesome show. I never really said they shouldn't do a fountain show at all, they should just use the current ones programmed to dance via computer and not just change effects with a turntable of switches, like the currently do. I actually am excited for a fountain show.
