  1. That camo cover is all too familiar, here is a video from YouTube of the Son of Beast announcement in 1999. https://youtu.be/UJF7tdvhUTo Skip to the 5 minute mark in the video.
  2. manufacture, name, stats, color, themeing and coaster type are still up in the air. All we have in our hands and from what we can see currently is the layout. Unlike Banshee when we saw footer type ( obviously B&M ), parelell footer placement ( obviously invert ) layout ( from city ) and name. ( trademarked by CF prior to announcement ). CF and KI have done a wonderful job keeping project2017 a mystery this time around.
  3. My heart tells me Intamin, but my mind keeps telling me it's going to be GCI.
  4. A bit late to the topic but I find it interesting that they are going to announce this coaster this early and prior to footers being poured. I guess they learned from Banshee how easily it was for a the coaster enthusiast to identify what type of coaster and manufacture we were going to get based on the design and footer placement. Banshee was easily decoded in my opinion.
  5. according to Hoover http://frtw.com/?q=exteriorfirex Shows the specs and uses of this wood. Rollercoasters is not in the list for uses, not all wood makes good use for coaster construction, but certainly could be used for other things that will be apart of project 2k17.
  6. Any word on what is to become of Hurler for the 2017 season?
  7. I wonder how soon green Intamin track arrives on site after the announcement. I wonder why my iPad decided to double post this, it must be sign.
  8. I wonder how soon green Intamin track arrives on site after the announcement.
  9. Christmas in July at Ki? Meh, I won't be attending that. I think the park should plan a Pokemon GO day, that would attract a lot of crowds young and old.
  10. The great Warner Stengel designed SoB, it probably was good on paper at one point. Unfortunatly Paramount had other plan$.
  11. Not to mention the couple of times Woodstock Express was painted. Rebel Yell also received paint recently
  12. It is simply not pratical to have a natural lake used for a splashdown element. Now maybe they could have made it look nicer, maybe it was in the plans at one point but at the time we had Mr. Micromanager calling the shots.
  13. The point of a splashdown is for people nearby watching to see the awesome water affect, therefor adding ride appeal. If Diamondback's splashdown was heavily wooded the splashdown would be pointless. People nearby wouldn't be able to see it. The splashdown while riding is a very uneventful section of the coaster, the only people who somewhat experience the "splash" affect are in the very back seat, on the last cart.
  14. converted? I thought toppler track was considered wood?
  15. I don't see why not, you're required to take your shoes.
  16. Which "El Toro" are you referring to?http://rcdb.com/4274.htm That looks like a very fun coaster.. Regardless of layout I'm just happy the park is adding a coaster other than a B&M. It's about time we get some variety.
  17. You know, Intamin Pre fab woodies have square footers...
  18. I would be surprised if they did not choose the native Cincinnati company The Gravity Group to manufacture and design our next woodie.
  19. The SOB station sit's fairly high up, a steep lift hill ( typical for most giga coasters ) would easily clear Banshee, and as far as final break run it would be no different than when SOB was there, so The Bat would pose no issues.
  20. I would be pleasantly surprised if we got an Intamin Prefab wooden coaster. Intamin tho may not be in the best relations with Cedar Fair has a good track record ( in terms of safety and reliability ) with their prefab woodie lineup. And from the reviews they are all fantastic and just as smooth as steel. The El Toro has held the #1 spot for the woodie category in the Golden ticket awards and Mitch Hawkers Best Rollercoaster poll. ( if that means anything ).
  21. A representative of RMC of course it's wood! I want to keep my job! But by definition it is not. Wooden coaster has running rails made of steel strips mounted on laminated wood. Steel coaster has running rails made of tubular steel but in RMC's case it's squared instead of tubular.
  22. Both Wildfire and Lightning Rod use this style of track, it is just painted Brown not red.
  23. Both Wildfire and Lighting Rod have topper track example: If I'm not mistaken the wheels of a coaster roll along the tracks. The track we see in this photo is painted red. The track looks oddly metallic for "wood".
