  2. I noticed more speculation in the the "bolt shed dirt" discussion which makes no sense to me. The newly cleared area with no apparent purpose for this season....now that has me intrigued. *shrug* Just figured there would be more given the nature of this forum.
  3. Really surprised the demolition, construction and movement to clear an area without any apparent reason hasn't caused rampant wild & crazy speculation on this board. Guess the dirt piles did their job.........
  4. ^ Plenty of good peeps here on KIC that meetup and hang at the park throughout the year. Stick around, make yourself known and before you know it, you'll have plenty of park friends.
  5. You all can say what you want about the ribs but IMO sitting back and watching everyone getting into fights with a bone trying to remove a sliver of meat and the ensuing aftermath of BBQ on their faces was worth the price of admission.
  6. First things first......what fairs, carnivals, or parks have you previously visited? What types of rides have you ridden in the past??
  7. Lol @ some of the responses in this thread......KIC never disappoints.
  8. ^ I will need you to post pictures of these said skills for better clarification. Thanks.
  9. At the end of the article after the "eating pizza" statement there should be a link to another one of his editorials written and posted in March of this year...... "How I nearly killed myself with food" Unfortunately that article returns a 404 but based off the title I have a better understanding of the link in the OP.
  10. Just made plans for a day at the park with my Mom this Sunday. She hasn't been to Kings Island in 30+ years......I'm very excited, can't wait for this weekend.
  11. Great post. Very insightful and straight to the point.....thanks for enlightening us with your input.
  12. ^.....after the first payment is made at time of purchase.
  13. To me, it's not so much the color but the quality. The black looks like it was slopped on there by a bunch of teenagers with brushes and cans of paint with instructions to cover it all. I would prefer a nice sprayed finish with a good coat of clear on top. A secondary color would also look nice to help contrast the black. The lights......not even sure what those are we currently have. Somebody previously mentioned "bug lights"......lol, that's pretty accurate.
  14. After my recent ride on Monster at CP I was immediately thinking how nice that paint and light package would look at KI.
  15. Lol.......this guy is an idiot ERT was fantastic and good times were had by many.
  16. Huh? Is Cedar Point now an entirely smoke-free park? Nope.....but as a courteous smoker I would appreciate designated areas and that should include something to extinguish my cigarette. There was only one of those "butt holders" at the convention center entrance. I was looking for areas to smoke that would not offend others, snuffing out my cigs on my shoe and throwing it away in a trashcan. I HATE people that just randomly flip their smokes on the ground when finished.
  17. Well......that's interesting. Do you know if they are the standard souvenir cups or Coasterstock branded ones?
  18. That sounds about right (I didn't check the #'s ) I wasn't complaining.......just thinking (typing) out loud. Wonder what the crowd will be for Friday night? Either way, should be a good time hanging out with other park geeks like me.
  19. If it is.......500 stacked in the Banshee ques is not what I consider a productive ERT.
  20. - Hotel Breakers check-in took 90 minutes due to the early booking perks not showing up correctly. - New outdoor pool areas were closed. - No ATM on the hotel premises. - Starbucks and Perkins.....only place to get morning coffee (WTF??). - No designated smoking areas. - etc...... I could go on and on (not even counting the issues in the park) but I won't because all in all we had a great time. Having been to both KI and CP opening weekends, needless to say they both had their share of issues.
  21. Breakfast and Q&A session with Mr. Hart....... http://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/event/119441?ana=twt
  22. We'll be staying just up the road that weekend in a cabin at Cedarbrook Campground.....$49.51 per night. We can hash out some plans next week since I'm all about CP opening weekend today. Leaving tommorow for 2 nights at Hotel Breakers. Can't wait!
  23. Stay far away from the Super 8. We stayed there for Banshee Media Day morning and slept fully clothed due to the condition of the room. Probably would have been better sleeping in the car.
  24. First thing I always do when pulling into the area is a trip through the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Generally a day at Cades Cove and another driving to Cherokee. The rest of the time I can be found enjoying the pure curvy bliss in the Z on Tail of the Dragon. To much fun in them woods to have any time for roller coasters. Lol....seriously though, I've been to that area probably 20+ different occasions and have never stepped foot in Dollywood. However I have promised myself that streak will end on my next trip. P.S. - Check rates for The Park Vista Hotel (tall one in Gatlinburg) as they can be surprisingly affordable depending on the time of year and current bookings. Their trash collection area also doubles as a bear viewing area in the evenings
