  1. I am expecting A LOT out of this ride at night. They are pretty much saying that a night ride on Banshee WILL BE better than a night ride on The Beast. What could possibly make a night ride on Banshee (or any ride for that matter) better than The Beast?

Textured lighting for one. But Banshee Screams, fog effects.... who knows?

  2. To be honest, I wouldn't really mind having a seat belt on Diamondback. It wouldn't really take away from the ride experience other than the slight downgrade in freedom, which for a B&M Hyper, is hard to do.

  3. Rides like Flight of the Demons, Medusa, and even Helix are reasonable competitors for Banshee. Goliath is simply the biggest competitor because it, along with Banshee, breaks world records. I do however think Banshee will almost definitely win best new ride this year.

  4. Great article,

In all seriousness, the article mentions Big Bad Wolf as the first suspended, I thought The Bat was? Secondly, I have not really noticed but KI seems to be on the forefront of roller coaster innovation.

Racer, Beast, Bat, King Cobra, SOB, Banshee (any other record breakers/first of their kind/important?)

I believe Flight of Fear was the first coaster to use utilize a LIM launching system.

  5. Where is the orange track been removed? Also, are there ANY inverted coasters that DONT have a curved first drop? I like straight drops myself....but it seems like all the inverts don't go that way...must be a reason.

Raptor's drop is somewhat straight, at least after the 90 degree left turn.

Edit: Also, it appears that Jubilee Odyssey, a Vekoma SLC in the U.K., also has a semi-straight drop. But Semi-straight is about as close as you're going to get with and invert.
