  1. One could be cheaper, easier, and faster- but with a high speed ride that’s highly dynamic, do you want to introduce a new weld that been made outside of factory conditions. Furthermore, the welds doesn’t fix the source of why the crack was there originally.
  2. I’m not saying it would be done by the end of the season, if it was a crack.
  3. Yes, a good welder will know what he’s doing. However there are risks at working at heights. B&M has replaced a piece in the past for their coasters. With KI being so close, and the manufacturer having the CAD files, why not?
  4. If it was a crack, and that’s a big if, they would likely replace the piece. There are so many factors at play with welding outside and at heights.
  5. That’s not because of the ride, it’s because of when COVID struck.
  6. The ladders at the site are an indication of trackwork.
  7. The boards were in a place (bottom of the first drop, that would only mean trackwork.
  8. Even then, you have to test the ride.
  9. Nope, it looks to be more track work as there were ladders at the bottom of the first drop.
  10. 23 CFR § 750.110 - State regulations. CFR prev next § 750.110 State regulations. A State may elect to prohibit signs permissible under the standards in this part without forfeiting its rights to any benefits provided for in the act.
  11. And there was no change to the ride over the course of the weekend.
  12. Actually, Afterburn at Great America needed parts of the final helix replaced after the first season, if I remember correctly.
  13. They were boards used to allow cranes and fork lifts to navigate over the terrain. There were also wires strewn about under the first drop.
  14. You can’t. They would need to rebuild the ride for them.
  15. They can’t do that. Entirely different rides. Furthermore, the fact they are using heavy machinery leads me to deduce it’s not a part issue.
  16. Same here. Furthermore, there are boards all over the area by the first drop.
  17. Technology has rapidly advanced since 2013-2014.
  18. If they got a new one, they can build an LED screen. You could play videos on it.
  19. Plus, wasn’t the current marquee built after the other one got hit by a wind event during the Paramount years? I’m asking that because if they got a new one, they could attach an LED screen.
  20. I’m thinking they’re redesigning the drop off lot. Currently lot and park traffic are mixed, and as seen last year and this year a car dropping off a passenger at KI likely ends up stuck in the traffic heading directly to the park and that’s a problem.
  21. As I was driving into KI today, I saw markers all around the Marquee Sign (sprays nearby and on its electrical boxes). Furthermore, there are sprays on the berm 20 yards away. Im curious if they’re going to relocate or replace the marquee. Thoughts?
  22. I’m sure the mods on this site would not like one of their users having this kind of attitude towards an enthusiast who has spent countless hours collecting and restoring KI history.
