Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they're called FunBands

Thanks so much for sharing! It's disappointing to see that particular guest had such a bad experience due to Dorney Park's lack of training. I just Googled "Fastpay Dorney Park." Most results I got were for 2013. Some were for 2014. I have a feeling FastPay is no longer a thing. I really hope Cedar Fair gives it another go in the future! As the article pointed out, the park REALLY could benefit from it a lot if it really puts forth the effort in research and development both before and after the system is implemented.

My apologies in advance if this idea has already been explored on this forum. As many of you theme park enthusiasts are probably aware, some of the world's leading theme park companies -- namely Universal & Disney -- are investing in RFID technology or similar technologies for their guests to use for annual passes, FastPasses, credit card transactions, room keys, etc. Does anyone think it probable that Cedar Fair might bring a similar system to its parks? Ideas for what it could be used for in Cedar Fair parks include the following: Season passes Credit/Debit cards for food, drinks, merch., etc. Lockers Fast Lane FunPix Games Location tracking for lost guests Rides' alternate access for guests with special needs For those of you who are not aware, the traditional use of such technology comes in the form of wristbands. Disney kicked it off with MagicBands. Universal is joining the movement with TapuTapu. Although I am not aware of parks using anything other than wristbands, RFID technology in theme parks could also be used in keychains, lanyards, or merely any other accessory. Cons: Merging so many things into one platform can lead to unimaginable consequences for the park and its guests should the system ever crash, get hacked, etc. Pros: I believe that such a system would be very beneficial for guests and Kings Island, as it would minimize the number of cards, codes, wrist bands, etc. that the Park issues each day to its guests. The upfront cost for Cedar Fair for the initial implementation would be obnoxious. However, if implemented correctly, it could save money for the park further down the road. What are your thoughts? https://www.travelingmom.com/top-destinations-disney/12-questions-answered-disneys-magicbands/ http://blog.universalorlando.com/inside-uor/taputapu-wearable-at-universals-volcano-bay/

Never mind! I found for myself. It's listed twice on the park map actually. Park map can be found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/images/uploads/file/KI2016Map.pdf

I know this is a rather old thread, but can anyone provide a link or direct quote which explicitly says that recording on rides is illegal? I've heard the phrase muttered many times by both guests and ride operators over the years, but I'm still not quite convinced it is actually a state law.

I'm actually a little surprised at how long it has taken for it to go vertical. Considering they made the announcement for MT a little earlier in the season than they did for DBack or Banshee, I thought they would start going vertical almost immediately after the announcement. Hey, friends! This doesn't have anything to do with construction. It does, however, have to do with Mystic Timbers nonetheless. In a different thread/forum here, there has been much discussion about what the spoken nickname should be for Mystic Timbers. MT works well when typing, but it doesn't sound good when speaking. Seeing as so many people aren't huge fans of the name, "Mystic Timbers," we've been trying to come up with a nickname for the ride. And we still have more than eight months to come up with a nickname, because the ride won't open until April at the earliest. What's your favorite nickname? Please feel free to take the survey below! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6PSDS2Z

We may have essentially no say in the actual name, theme, or layout of any ride at Kings Island. We do, however, get a bit of say on what people call rides. After many names have been put forth, I have created a survey for what we should call Mystic Timbers when speaking informally! Please, feel free to complete the survey! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6PSDS2Z Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

In general, most parks have been fortunate enough to not be sabotaged to any level that extreme, whether it be by gangs, terrorists, or thugs. That is assuming that you were referring to people from the outside trying to burn it down. As for names from the GP...Oh dear...let's see...most will probably call it "THE Mystic Timbers," "The Beast," "That Timber Ride," or "The Wooden Ride" (not realizing how many others there are in the park). It will be atrocious, almost guaranteed...no matter what nickname enthusiasts give it. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

And think MT works fine for when conversing on here and when messaging people. However, I was trying to find a slang name for speaking...simply because Mystic Timbers really isn't that great of a name...nor is MT. Misty and MyTi (mai tai) both sound good to me though. I'm not a huge fan of the "mitty" pronunciation personally. -

I was thinking the drink, personally. And you can have a virgin mai tai. Granted, a virgin mai tai is basically just lime juice. But it still works for those who don't drink Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

That's it, TB! I've been trying to think of what Mystic Timbers' unofficial name is going to be. I was thinking it would just be Timber....but no, MyTi all the way! Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

It goes in the center of that turnaround down at the bottom of the pic I'm really buying what you're selling here, Kenban. The zones divided by the railroad track makes a lot of sense. I thought the statue was replacing the Eiffel Tower. Never mind about that...?Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

Typically on a GCI the first building is part of the brake run and is the train storage and maintenance. It is one of the signature items on a GCI coaster and just stands out on the layout as something you would see on a GCI. I'm no roller coaster genius. However, using logic, to answer your question (even if there won't be two stations on this ride), I would generally believe having two stations would speed things up. With 2 stations, you should have an ABSOLUTE minimum of three trains on the track (one would think). Train 1 at load. Train 2 in circuit/on the lift. Train 3 at unload. If there are block brakes, then you could add additional trains. In a perfect world with perfect capacity with 3 trains on the track, train 1 would dispatch immediately after train 2 clears the lift. Train 3 would proceed from unload to load as soon as train 1 clears the station. With perfect capacity, it creates a constant cycle of 1 train in circuit, 1 train at unload, and 1 train at load...rather than having 1 or 2 trains sit on the block brakes as 1 train loads and waits to leave the station. Not having loose articles bins and not having seat belts in strange places (FOF) really helps to speed things up a lot, too. Safety is obviously always the #1 concern, but seat belts really do slow things down A LOT on certain rides (FOF, Beast, Racer, and Drop Tower...just to name a few). *LetsRide actually not trying to be sassy for once* Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

Well Gavin Penn said it's an rmc and he's been right all along. Looks to me like Cedar Point puts these gci rides at smaller parks. Looks like they are going to do rmc's at their larger parks. There is more than one Cedar Point? Finally trying to catch up on the threads.Sent from my N9130 using Tapatalk I guess this explains why Cedar Point may or may not always get some of the best rides....because Cedar Point decides where all of the rides go. It all makes perfect sense now! *Sarcasm noted* Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

We need to get back to discussing whether Kings Island or Cedar Point is better. Isn't that what this thread is for? I could be mistaken though. Maybe this thread is for the giga-fan-girls and gurls to mourn what seems to be the destruction of their long awaited plans for a giga coaster. Either way, we are WAY off topic right now! *LetsRide, dashing for the corn fields as he is chased by Splintercats with torches, fangs, claws, and pitchforks* Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

Or, you know, in regard to lockers, Kings Island could just stop charging for lockers, too (at least the ones outside of Firehawk and Banshee anyway). That may help your case (and thousands of other people's cases).Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk -

1) While Magnum and DBack are both hypers, they're COMPLETELY different, as DBack gives a MUCH smoother ride. 2) WindSeeker was just a hot mess of an investment that most Cedar Fair parks were basically dragged into and really doesn't count for much of anything because it's closed so often. 3) And then there's Raptor and Banshee...that's actually a fair comparison in my opinion.
