  1. If you have time to read and post, you have time to perform the simple task quite a few members have been instructing you to do.
  2. Because it'd be adding attention to the park in general, making Kings Island even more appealing to potential visitors this year. Similar to Dinosaurs Alive! along WindSeeker in 2011. However, with that said, I'm in the same boat of doubting the park will add another new ride or attraction.
  3. You're missing a couple. 8. Festhaus 9. Red's Hall of Fame Grille 10. Rivertown near Diamondback (it's the same building as Snoopy's, but they're separate) 11. International Restaurant (yeah yeah, I know, not generally open to the public) And then even a few more if you were to include Picnic Grove and Soak City.
  4. On the subject of the establishment's name... Chicken Shack Hank's Burrito Shack Snoopy's Snack Shack In addition to Boomerang Bay's former Outback Shack. Nothing more original to use than "Shack"?
  5. As upstop said above, the ride is elevated off the ground and has a much smaller footprint than at first appears. The queue line is tucked beneath the ride's structure as well, which reduces it even further. But while Golden Zephyr looks nice, and the lighting package on it is whimsical at night, I personally wouldn't want one at Kings Island: the ride experience is mediocre at best.
  6. Ya know, if you just add the word "Viking" in front of it, I'm sure it'd be a great flat ride.
  7. ^Hopefully you weren't sitting on the handrails
  8. ^^TheBeast1116, please do not just directly link to the webcam. As I, and other members, have stated numerous times, it only shares what you want to share for a limited time. If you want to snapshot it, then save it to your computer and upload it via an image sharing site like imgur.com. That way, it won't continually updated and (eventually) go out of service.
  9. Not everyone. I have NEVER taken my phone in a park as a paying guest. It is my goal never so to do. But I feel as though you're the minority in this situation. According to PewResearch.org, over 90% of American adults own a cell phone, and one could assume the majority of them carry it around, including into theme parks. The park would be wise to try and take advantage of this, connecting visitors to profit-making programs like FastLane and souvenir bottles via their devices.
  10. GODZILLA2877 and TheBeast1116, please don't directly link to the webcam. When you do, the picture will continually update and do two negative things: 1. No longer relate to what you're referring to sometime down the road 2. Be very dark and no longer visible for those of us reading the thread at 4:30 in the morning. Instead, save the picture to your computer and then upload it onto a service like imgur. I did a very similar Photoshop in this thread, only I used Columbus Zoo's flying scooters. By no means do I think the park will actually add a set of scooters into the area, but I don't think it'd be a bottleneck nightmare like everyone is presenting it. Just reference The Magic Carpets of Aladdin at Magic Kingdom - it's a similar sized ride tucked into a similar sized midway. They wouldn't have to be ready for opening day. Firehawk didn't open until Memorial Day weekend. (Not that I think a ride is going to be assembled in that circle.) But unlike Firehawk, the new set of scooters would not be off to the side of the midway, but instead in the direct center of it. And it'd be a very busy, traffic-heavy midway. If the park was to add flying scooters in the former target area, I think they would be open by opening day.
  11. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Kings Island's new roller coaster will not be that impressively lit. And if the park's recent history of maintaining nighttime lighting (Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular) is a sign of anything, I'm not getting my hopes up on Banshee looking all that great at night, especially a few years down the road. Toilet Paper Review That'd probably be a nicer website with a nicer administrator than it is now.
  12. Fantastic photos, Shaggy! Thanks so much for sharing. Two comments for two of the photos: For King Cobra's demolition, it's interesting to see how carefully the ride appeared to have been dismantled, especially when compared to recent demolitions like Kentucky Kingdom's Greezed Lightnin (if the linked picture doesn't make it clear, the ride was practically torn apart in a non-salvageable way). Kings Island must've been more careful with KC, as they had the coaster on the market for several years after its removal. Regarding the Phantom Theater picture, I feel as though the ride is well remembered and dearly missed by most members of the enthusiast community, but that specific scene (the Pepper's Ghost Effect) seems to be forgotten. I find it interesting to note that BBOBH's library room was built over top where the Pepper's Ghost Effect scene was. The PGE room was substantially lower than the library is, so I've always wondered whether there remains a basement of sorts down there.
  13. It may have been used for Xtended Play, but it wasn't built for that: the stand was for the Action Zone stunt show that premiered, and was quietly discontinued, in 1999. I went to The Bat factory and bought a bat. The Bat I bought was wooden. My friend said The Bat would be great to use in games. When I typed that sentence, it was grammatically correct. Now it's a mess of unnecessary, confusing capitalization. Edit - And sure, members of a Kings Island fansite will be discussing the park's suspended roller coaster far more than a baseball bat factory. But the autocorrect can cause problems elsewhere. For example, what if I was referencing The Bat on The Bat's logo? Or The Bat on any Bat merchandise?
  14. ^What year are the Winterfest pictures from? It's extremely challenging to estimate the date when it's just International Street shown, and all I can figure is 1982-1993... the span of Winterfest.
  15. I believe you mean On Location. The area was never known as Wild Animal Kingdom. It's been Lion Country Safari, Wild Animal Habitat, Adventure Village, and Action Zone. Here's an interesting spotlight of the whole area: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/23540-lion-country-safari-spotlight/ Which is a silly filter / autocorrect feature to have on the website. I could be talking about about a baseball bat factory where I bought a bat, versus Kings Island's suspended roller coaster. It also reminds me of a certain website which obnoxiously changes "Full Throttle" to "YOLOcoaster" and "lockers" to "fluffy, fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo". Based off the 2001 photo posted below, it didn't have any trademark symbols. I recall hearing it was removed because it was slowly falling into a state of disrepair, and it was easier to demolish than repair. The big target was in the boneyard near Soak City for several years though. Based off sites like Google Maps though, it appears to have been removed from there sometime around 2010 or 2011.
  16. ^Parking lot generally isn't included in the park map, so I'd be surprised if it was featured on this one. Although, to help the less-frequent visitors, a large directional map (or even signs pointing the way) of all the parking lot subsections could be nice right outside the park, helping visitors locate their car when they leave for the day.
  17. ^Psst - no need to quote the photo, especially when it's right above your post
  18. Never thought of that! But I think that it would be unlikely. The queue line would take up a chunk of walking space and make it more congested. I don't necessarily think it'll happen (although I'd adore the addition), but here's a quick rendering of Columbus Zoo's flying scooters in the middle of Action Zone. The Zoo's set of scooters has a 42" height requirement, while Cedar Point's upcoming ones are 36". Regardless of which Kings Island's would be, it would be an excellent new family attraction (something the park is seriously lacking outside of Planet Snoopy - there are only six rides a 36" kid can ride, and eight a 44" one can). It would also fit comfortably in the area with plenty of room on all sides (although the queue would potentially need to be a tad larger). I'm just not sure what theme or name they would give it - bats seem ideal, but that's already been taken.
  19. Just a friendly reminder, linking to the live webcam means that the image will change with time, and nighttime viewers will be met with a dark photo. Instead, save the photo and upload it to a photo sharing site like imgur.com. That way, the screenshot will be saved in time.
  20. If you notice, they intentionally posted that....whoever runs the park's Facebook, typically is sarcastic in some replies. I didn't realize that, but makes a ton more sense. Thanks for sharing!
  21. This looks like a solid addition for the park, but I'm bewildered by how the park announced it: a sample link on their Facebook without any official announcement, facts, videos, etc. Plus being announced for 2015 before the 2014 season has even started... It just seems like so much lost opportunity when it comes to marketing the ride. Also, whoever manages the Facebook page for the park may want to proofread some of their posts:
  22. We're placing it above Diamondback? That's a mighty bold statement. And that's coming from someone who spent a couple years working it.
  23. Sorry to double post; mobile is giving me a hard time with quoting two posts in one reply. The Bat last operated in 1983 and, although planned to operate in 1984 (similar to Cedar Point's Wildcat, a crew was even hired to work it), the ride instead sat dormant before being demolished. Unlike Son of Beast though, it didn't sit idle for 3+ years - I'm pretty sure it was fully removed by the end of 1984, pardon the station and random footings we're left with today.
