  1. Zephyr opened in 1986 and Vortex in 1987, dating your picture to 1986.
  2. Based off Flight Commander (1990-1995) but no Action Theater (1994-Present), that'd put it somewhere from 1990 through 1993. Any other pictures from the same trip could help narrow that down though.
  3. I've heard that Cedar Fair cut chainsaws from all Halloween events back in 2012. Miscellaneous other things were also canned in 2013, including water in mazes, such as the spitting animal heads in Slaughterhouse.
  4. I know this was posted months back, but despite signage in the station saying otherwise, Congo Falls only requires shoes. You can ride in a speedo if you want, just as long as there's something on your feet.
  5. Indeed, and I think I've heard that Woodstock Express' photo booth was formerly FACE/OFF's
  6. ^It may require more responsibility on an operator's behalf to run a rapids ride than it would a roller coaster, but that doesn't mean a rapids ride is dangerous. It'd be a very questionable amusement park that would operate a knowingly dangerous attraction.
  7. I don't think you read my post. If the ride is being operated, maintained, and ridden correctly, then it should be safe. Being operated correctly involves training employees correctly, such as the e-stop drills you mentioned.
  8. There is very little danger in all rides if they're operated, maintained, and ridden properly. Any "dangers" are 99.99% of the time the result of poor operations or maintenance, or a rider's failure to obey written and spoken instructions.
  9. ^He may not necessarily be referring to the type of coaster that Revenge of the Mummy is (LIM Dark Coaster), but instead its theme / setting - an intense roller coaster with a dark ride overlay. There are plenty of coasters that could fit into Crypt's building with this theme, my top choice being an El Loco from S&S themed to a mine, similar to Dollywood's Mystery Mine.
  10. Fun Fact: White Water Canyon's 1,680-foot canal is lined with 5,000 tons of limestone rock, the largest weighing eight tons. Regarding "themeing" for the ride, I've always thought it could use a few more water effects. I enjoy the geysers at the end (and the single one over near Diamondback), but the only other thing to potentially get riders wet are the rapids themselves, which there doesn't always seem to be many of. Additional water falls, spouts of water, and the like would really add to the attraction. And, although incredibly unrealistic, I wouldn't mind seeing a drop added midway through the attraction. After crossing under the first tunnel and making the big turn near Diamondback, a large elevator lift could be installed. It could be themed as a large mill or an oil derrick or anything else Western/mining. The drop itself would be a straight incline that would dive right into the second tunnel, which could also be more heavily themed.
  11. It opened in 1973, and I'm 90% sure it ceased operation for Beast construction.
  12. But one of the reasons that the queues for rides like Soarin' were so monstrously long was because of FastPass. I've heard, that sans Fast Pass, the queue time for Soarin' would never surpass 30 minutes. If you restrict FastPass's use, the park could potentially drop the stand-by wait times down, therefore enabling the majority of visitors to enjoy more. The system is only requiring guests to choose one of the big rides for FastPass+, not to ride in general. If they get a FastPass for Space Mountain, there's nothing stopping them for queuing for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (and, as predicted above, the wait time for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad may now be less, without the FastPass overkill).
  13. I can respect the fact that the ride was a record breaking piece of technology in 1979 and that it helped build and shape the park into what it is today. However, that doesn't mean I have to think it's a good ride. I can list several other roller coasters from the 1970s I'd rather ride - Colossus, Loch Ness Monster, Racer, Thunder Road, even Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Beast is giant stretch after giant stretch of boring track. Its setting is nice, sure, but that doesn't save it from being a mediocre ride.
  14. Not everybody loves The Beast. In my opinion, it is incredibly overrated and a mediocre roller coaster at best.
  15. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090723/NEWS01/907240329/ The man may not have necessarily died on the ride, but it could be assumed the blunt impact to his torso was the result of the ride (even though he did have pre-existing health conditions).
  16. You two are not necessarily reflective of the majority of teenagers though. I'm barely into my twenties, so Lady Gaga and the like definitely existed when I was a teenager. And unlike you two, I personally enjoyed their music. It may not be the best quality or what-not, but it's catchy and entertaining. That's not to say I personally wouldn't want themed music though.
  17. ^Sure, it's incorrect English to misuse a trademark and leave out some capitalization. I'm all for spell-checking and proofreading and what-not. But it's far more obnoxious to be met with a nearly-identical post in multiple topics, simply correcting other users for typing Coke instead of Coke.
  18. ^Because I'm sure PepsiCo and the Coca-Cola company want to spend their time and resources fighting against a tiny forum community of coaster enthusiasts for not capitalizing their soft drinks' names. Just the idea is laughable.
  19. Actually, on a random coaster enthusiast forum, I think you are the only one who cares if someone posts Coke versus Coke or mountain dew versus Mountain Dew. And to be completely honest, these posts are becoming quite obnoxious.
  20. When I worked at Drop Tower a few years back, some seatbelts were longer than others. There wasn't a pattern, but I distinctly remember the longest was in a seat facing Timberwolf. It had several more inches than any other seat, allowing larger rides to fit with ease. I don't know if it's still that way, however. No.
  21. It'd look like an old dirt road, which would thematically fit into Rivertown perfectly. Similar to how Frontierland is done at Magic Kingdom. Not that I'd ever expect Kings Island to be on the same level as Disney, but an incredibly interesting read on Disney's varied use of pavements through-out their parks: http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2012/01/pounding_the_pavement_at_walt_1.html
  22. Rivertown could have faux dirt ground - brown-colored concrete, complete with hoof-prints and the like through-out it. Similar to Dinosaurs Alive!, with its dinosaur footprints.
  23. As a friendly reminder to everyone posting pics of the webcam, remember that if you simply link to the live feed, the picture will continually update through-out the day. This means that people who browse the thread at night are met with a bunch of dark images. Instead, save the picture and upload it to another site, like Imgur, so that others can see what you want to share.
  24. From the 7th day, the "Walk of Memories"... that would fit perfectly into Tower Garden. Come on Kings Island.
  25. It's a pain, reading posts on Twitter and seeing a link from Kings Island. When I click it, I'm first asked whether I want to download the app (even if I've already installed it before). Afterwards, I'm taken to the mobile site, which is different from what I clicked the link for. At least they (appear to have) stopped using twitpic for their images. Not only did it take longer to load, but I was often met with an obnoxious advertisement I had to click out of in order to see the picture.
