  1. Where was the monorail storage house? Is it still there? From this post: It's used for maintenance of some sort today.
  2. ^Yes, it was briefly shown in the B-side. Sometime between 2001-2005, although I'm not entirely sure when.
  3. As beastfan11 mentioned, there have been three different Haunt films (Elvira's Superstition, Dracula's Haunted Castle, and Fun House Express). I recall there also being some "lost temple" simulator of some sort at some point, although I can't remember the name of it for the life of me.
  4. ^I believe that the Skeleton Key rooms are actually separate "first rooms" of the houses. After the paying guests have gone through the room, the exit of said room merges into beginning of the actual haunted house. Regarding an upcharge house idea, Knott's Berry Farm introduced "Trapped" last year. They posted these fun facts about it in November, shortly after the event ended:
  5. Is there still a S.O.B. parking section? If so, I imagine that will become Banshee. As a couple others mentioned, the former Son of Beast parking section became Diamondback. While it was still Son of Beast though, the logos on the sign included the loop for several years after the actual loop was removed. If memory serves me right, the current parking lot sections are WindSeeker (former Gold Pass), Beast, Diamondback, Vortex, Adventure Express, Invertigo, Flight Deck, and possibly Drop Tower (not entirely sure on that one). In addition to Preferred Parking, Bus / RV Parking, and Employee Parking.
  6. The haunt inside of the crypt has you walk down a flight of stairs.... I also saw them tell a few guests in wheel chairs that they would not be able to go through a few haunts while in wheel chairs.... As someone else stated, there's an elevator for guests unable to go up/down stairs. Here ya go. Not sure where I found these, but I think it might've actually been on this website a couple years ago. When I worked Flight Deck back in 2008 and part of 2009, we'd sometimes go under the station during some off-time. The doors could be opened with one of the ride's keys, but there wasn't much to see inside any of them - just some dusty old props and displays. Hopefully whatever goes in instead is more exciting.
  7. ^The poles are the same as from Der Spinnen Keggers. The arrows point to the current location of the poles (shielded by trees in the picture, but visible from ground level), and the two poles as they were when it was Der Spinnen Keggers.
  8. Plus that haunt maze would not be handicap accessible, unless an elevator was added. I could definitely see a FastLane addition, alongside a possible retheme of some sorts.
  9. I recall once hearing that the go-karts were included with admission on a company buy-out day a few years back. The line was literally hours long. Unless the park found a way to turn a typically low-capacity attraction into a high-capacity one, it's unlikely. Plus, instead of spending the funding to add another go-kart attraction, the park could instead invest in an actual addition.
  10. ^Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad. Regarding the original question, if you're simply defining "oldest" as "earliest opening year", then Tumble Bug gets the title. But if you mean "oldest" as in "total years operated", Grand Carousel has since laid claim to that.
  11. Assuming they treated the water and made the area more attractive, a splash-zone (similar to SheiKra or Griffon) could actually look really cool, and add a unique interaction between the ride and viewing guests. Plus, during those hot summer days, it'd add another water attraction to Rivertown (although, personally, I'm still awaiting a splash battle attraction like Dollywood's River Battle...)
  12. I don't think the flume is as wide as you're imagining it is. And I typically see a pretty healthy queue for the ride (although a queue's length is never a way to gauge an attraction's popularity).
  13. As goodyellowkorn182 mentioned, needing the assistance of the fire department to evacuate the guests makes it noteworthy and newsworthy. On the contrary, the article over the summer about Kings Island's Adventure Express being evacuated (Link - http://www.middletownjournal.com/news/news/kings-islands-adventure-express-evacuated/nYGX8/) is far from newsworthy. And regarding HRRR, I personally found the ride pretty enjoyable when I rode it last summer
  14. According to the official Coney Island website, Tumble Bug opened in 1925 (http://www.coneyislandpark.com/history.php). However, that site also states that the Carousel opened in 1927, while all other sources I've encountered date it at 1926.
  15. Please no. Definitely no.
  16. ...which building is this? It's the building that houses the Attitudes gift shop and the Delta Delta Die haunted house. Here's an extremely rare picture of Cuddle Up, screenshotted from an eBay auction some time back: The picture is supposedly from Kings Island, although I cannot figure out for the life of me what the big building in the background would be. Edit - Actually, the big blue building is the old inflatable Kings Island Theater. So the shot definitely is Kings Island.
  17. I did not notice Shaggy had said the queue was also used for Skylab. However, if you look at the below photo (from opening day 1972), you can see there is no queue behind Tumble Bug, only an exit ramp. A queue and queue shelter were added with Skylab. Here is a more recent picture of the area, clearly showing Skylab's queue house as a new storage building. Now it is of course possible that a new queue was added for Tumble Bug at some point, and said queue was recycled for Skylab. But saying a statement is probably true because it has gone unchallenged for a decade is a foolish idea - there is a plethora of incorrect information in these and many other forums that has never been challenged. Heck, there's plenty of incorrect information on this site's timeline and history pages, outside of the forums. Edit - None of the above photos are mine, all were found via online searches.
  18. If you read Shaggy's original post, it's Skylab's queue that's still standing. LordSkippy mistakenly stated it was Tumble Bug. The Monorail's maintenance building, alongside random barns and sheds and ponds, are all still standing. And in addition to some of The Bat's footers, its whole station is obviously still standing. Part of Flying Dutchman's ride platform is still there - it's now the beginning of Adventure Express' queue. Across Oktoberfest, two poles from Der Spinnen Kegger's queue line are hidden among the trees around Viking Fury's exit.
  19. ^That brochure is for 1979 and contains some great shots and information. Thanks for sharing
  20. https://www.valleyfair.com/what-s-new/new-for-2014-route-76 --- So looks like Cedar Point isn't the only park to get a "Surf Dog" next year. Although, something to note, the press release quoted above says that children 42" and over can ride Northern Lights. Our version of the attraction has a 44" height requirement.
  21. Are you suggesting having a single train run two laps on it? That would kill capacity on a ride that already has low capacity to start with... But it wasn't always The Beastie. It was Scooby-Doo for eight years before being renamed The Beastie, so why not rename it to its original name? I'm pretty certain a second train would also require a transfer track.
  22. Where there any changes between Massacre Manor and Delta Delta Die? If so, what? And why'd you like Board to Death so much? Thanks for the trip report
  23. The only change you noticed between Massacre Manor and Delta Delta Die was some paint and beer cans? If that's legitimately all that changed, then that's extremely disappointing. Your lack of interest in Board to Death is also a bummer - any specific reasons you didn't care for it? Saying it's worse than Mysteria is a pretty low blow, as Mysteria was a huge embarrassment for the park. Sounds like a fun time though, despite the rain and misleading announcements. Thanks for the trip report!
