  1. Fascinating! I hope you find that picture. Was this when it originally opened?
  2. I referenced it in another thread, by saying "'Number Five is alive' brings up good memories." Glad to see someone else remembers Short Circuit.
  3. A part of me wonders what it would have been like if Paramount had not been purchased by Viacom or if Viacom had any actual interest in the parks once they purchased the studio and its assets.
  4. Love these photos! I wish there were an Images of America book on Kings Island.
  5. Number five is alive? That brings back memories!
  6. As a person who has always loved movies, I loved it. It was nice to have a local park that embraced films. I loved the posters, the Addams Family score that greeted you as you entered the park, the Mirthmobile that sat comfortably in Tower Gardens. I loved it all, at the time.
  7. I've grown to love it. The haunted theming, the 80s songs, it's a really fun way to spend what is often a tedious moment while you wait to pull back into the station. Adventure Express builds up to a lava soaked death at the peak of a lift. But they took out the lava, so now the end of the ride builds up to nothing but the station. If they removed the projector, the radio, and the voices, Mystic Timbers would still make sense to later generations. It would just the normal wait into the station, like every other coaster.
  8. I agree. It needs some love. A dark ride would be nice for the sake of variety as it already has two coasters, but I would just be happy if something, anything were added to it. It doesn't necessarily have to be a ride.
  9. To be fair, I'm pretty sure entitlement has existed as long as humans have.
  10. I think that's because the illusion the ride builds towards (a transition through "lava" to "safety") is no longer effective since the effects are no longer in place. Now the moment builds to nothing.
  11. Customers like this exist with all levels of businesses. It's a thing in life we all have to deal with, but it still doesn't make it okay.
  12. On the park's Instagram page, they posted a photo of The Woodstock Express, asking the public to guess its original name. Naturally, the majority said "The Beastie," wrongfully, but understandably. However, one user claimed its original name was "The Blue's Clues Adventure" while another simply said "Blue's Clues, Fairy Odd Parents, and Beastie." Blue's Clues? Scrolling through it, my answer appears to be the only one that mentioned its original moniker, Scooby Doo.
  13. A guest yelling at KI employees should be grounds for removal from the park. No matter how long you waited in line, no matter how stale your food is, no matter how privileged you think you are because you "spent good money to be here," it is not okay to act this way.
  14. The Addams Family ride, for me, is the biggest "what if" of the Paramount Parks era. Not only do I love those movies, but I grew up with reruns of both The Addams Family and The Munsters, as well as Scooby Doo, Casper, Tales From the Crypt, Amazing Stories, Eerie Indiana, and anything else creepy, kooky, and spooky. Along with movies being my one true addiction, I would have eaten it up. I never quite understood why we never had rides designed after Mission: Impossible and Star Trek, but I guess it's all moot now.
  15. As far as KI-themed merchandise goes, a lot of the shirts have incredible designs. It's the faded look on the fabric that turns me off. However, the tie dye Mystic Timbers, the Peanuts watching the fireworks, and Banshee by way of The Grudge poster are the best shirt designs I've seen in the park. However, I'm on the lookout for a good Beast shirt. Now that I've finally seen photos of the arcade, meh. It looks alright. Hopefully, they will do more work to it next year.
  16. I'll be honest, I pay very little attention to the employees. The general public compile most, if not all of my gripes. People who smell, drop F-bombs in Planet Snoopy, cut in line, take centuries to order their food, act like 40/50-year old manbabies and make scenes over minor inconveniences, etc. That's not to say I don't have complaints about the food, such as the inconsistent portions at Coney BBQ and the complete non-LaRosas quality of LaRosas.
  17. The shirt designs are great, but there is something about the quality of fabric used. They often look like faded, secondhand thrift shirts for premium prices. There are a few exceptions, of course. Assuming you're talking about the employees' dress code, I don't mind seeing tattoos, as long as they don't look like prison tattoos.
  18. I wouldn't call an arcade "trashy." I mean, it's not like they've turned it into a "Cash 4 Gold" place. I haven't seen what this looks like yet, but I'm okay with it being an arcade. If I'm not mistaken, you can get most, if not all the same shirts at the nearest shop.
  19. I have been looking for more information on AE's original effects, but can't seem to find a whole lot. Wasn't there supposed to be lava effect at one point? Up until a few years ago, Cedar Fair continued to play a small portion of Raiders of the Lost Ark score in the queue. The track is "The Idol Temple."
  20. My first thought was "that poor lady." She must be so embarrassed right now. :/
  21. They're for He Who Walks Behind the Rows.
  22. I'd love organ music in Coney Mall, but it best belongs on a specific former ride that needs to make a comeback.
  23. I'd rather have classic rock and oldies in the Coney Mall, with contemporary rock/hip hop in Action Zone and X-Base.
  24. I'm loving the film music on International Street.
