  1. The Fast Lane and Fast Lane Plus lineups have been updated for the 2016 season and they are sure to make a splash! The FL lineup seems consistent with last year while FL+ has Banshee, Firehawk, FoF, Beast, AND Soak City attractions! Yes, you are reading that correctly. Tropical Plunge, Rendezvous Run, Zoom Flume, and Thunder Falls all are now on FL+. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/fast-lane-32615_32702
  2. The concept seems intriguing but KI seems to be sacrificing the experience for capacity increases... unlike Dorney Park who acknowledges that an attraction like Blackout has a lower capacity and thus limits the queue line to Fright Lane only to maintain the experience. See https://www.dorneypark.com/haunt/ride/Blackout/cat/Mazes Edit: Seems like a catch-22 though. Limiting guests improves the experience but limiting the line to Fright Lane only could cause problems. What happens when no one is buying or using Fright Lane? Does the maze sit empty and the employees waiting?
  3. Yes. WoF, DP, KD, and possibly Carowinds 2016 all have this slide complex under various names and color schemes. Additionally, it seems that KI is either running out of name ideas or is intentionally trying to cause confusion with "Tropical Plunge." Currently, the following attractions exist in Soak City and seem to overlap names: Pineapple Pipeline - complex of 3 enclosed body slides Pipeline Paradise - stationary wave bodyboarding Paradise Plunge - 4 intertwined open air body slides *2016* (Tropical Plunge) Tropical Twister - 2 enclosed, braided body slides
  4. Well it seems that there will be some very disappointed kids... https://www.facebook.com/visitkingsisland/posts/10153734400058368 I am very curious to know what circumstances were unforeseen.
  5. I am surprised that Wildwater Kingdom is still open (and probably still profitable) considering that it doesn't seem to cater to a specific niche due to its small size and location. It doesn't have enough attractions to appeal to families with young kids or to thrill seekers and its location isn't conducive to attracting vacationers. I will say that Thunder Falls is amazing but the entire waterpark is do-able in less than 2 hours which isn't great if you want to generate more in-park spending through food and drinks.Other than convenience to the local northeast Ohio area, there seems to be no lure to visit and even the convenience factor isn't great since there are many other smaller, but still equitable, waterparks that serve the Cleveland/Akron area.
  6. Soak City 2016 anyone?? https://www.flickr.com/photos/131966412@N05/?
  7. Kings Dominion is running a single day admission and FL+ combo for as low as $104. I don't see this offer for any other CF park. Possible test run for chain-wide rollout? I wonder why Flight of Fear isn't on FL+ for KD. Not enough other good rides to entice people to buy FL? https://www.kingsdominion.com/plan-a-visit/fast-lane Additionally, CF seems to have moved away from only 2 rides on FL+ at more of their parks. CP has Rougarou, TTD, Maverick, and Gatekeeper. KI has Banshee, Beast, Flight of Fear, and Firehawk. Carowinds has Fury 325, Intimidator, Nighthawk, Dorsal Fin Drop, and Surfer's Swell. https://www.cedarpoint.com/things-to-do/fast-lane https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/fast-lane https://www.carowinds.com/things-to-do/fast-lane
  8. Hmm, don't remember seeing this before... Kings Island Drone Policy All drones (Unmanned Aerial Systems) are prohibited at (in) all Cedar Fair parks, including Kings Island, and any unauthorized drone(s) observed over Kings Island will be reported to the FAA and local law enforcement, regardless of its point of origin or operation. Drones may pose a potential safety risk and may violate Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. (https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/frequently-asked-questions) Seems that drones are all the rage right now.
  9. The dinosaur in the corporate office lasted for more than two decades...
  10. Another sequel you say eh.... We have the Father, we had the Son, might as well add the Spirit to round out the trinity...
  11. A 2016 Soak City expansion seems likely and is very much needed; however, the two locations pointed out in the video are not ideal candidates for a large slide complex. There is a large power-line that bisects Soak City running through the location next to Splash River. The location next to Tidal Wave Bay would be isolated and difficult to access if the entrance to the hypothetical slide complex faces Tidal Wave Bay so a second entrance path would have to be added near the main entrance to Soak City by altering or removing the smoking section next to the main entrance. I would add a children's splash pad next at the location next to Splash River, re-surface Breakers Bay, add restrooms next to Splash River, add a food location near Splash River and would add a large slide complex in the open field next to Mondo Monsoon.
  12. Agreed. Additionally, a waterpark expansion would be a safe bet seeing as KD, CW, and VF are getting one this year while Carowinds, and DP got one the previous year. Yes, I know we just got Soak City in 2012 but, in my opinion, it was just a fresh coat of paint for everything and the addition of a much needed new wave pool with Tidal Wave Bay.
  13. The queue rails for Fury 325 have arrived. Talk about attention to detail and light theming! https://www.facebook.com/carowindspark/photos/a.10151648123373599.1073741826.91085023598/10153073867308599/?type=1&theater Photo: Carowinds

  15. Don't forget the awful smoking area next to the Soak City train station.... Ugh.
  16. #25...... really?!? Not something one would expect to be one of 32 best new additions... Woodstock Gliders on the other hand...
  17. Wow $8.50?! Kentucky's minimum wage is at $7.25 and the starting salary of a ride op is above that... color me shocked! One would think that with such a high demand for jobs that the salary would be at a bare minimum especially if a penny pincher is in charge...
  18. True, but we've been lucky with our Vekoma Inverigo model in that it hasn't had as many incidents. The same can't be said for Stinger at Dorney... If any Inverted Boomerang model is to be scrapped, Stinger is probably first on that list. Problems at California's Great America and then almost an entire missed season at Dorney...not good. Also consider that even though Dorney is the dumping ground for unwanted, troubled, outdated CF roller coasters, eventually a roller coaster isn't even useful enough to exist at a dumping ground.
  19. Carowinds finally installed a higher quality live feed cam focused on Fury 325 construction site! https://www.carowinds.com/swarm/building-the-nest/live-camera-feed
  20. La Ronde is getting Maison Rouge, a season-long haunted attraction, for 2015. Maybe KI is doing the same thing with Killmart.
  21. Harley Quinn's Spinsanity will open at Six Flags Over Georgia.
  22. I believe that it is common for those bringing a civil suit to wait as long as possible to allow for most expected and unexpected costs from the injury to appear so that the plaintiff can sue for the full amount of damage.
  23. I think slide tubes are made of a thicker construction/different internal design than tubes for the lazy river so the park decides which colors it wishes to use to signify the type of attraction the tube is made for. Some guests aren't the brightest.... I can't count the number of times that I have been waiting in line for Zoom Flume at Soak City and a guest gets in line carrying a Splash River tube... lots of lifeguard whistling ensues... I know how you meant it, but... Come on. Many guests, may not know the big difference between a Slide A's intertube vs Lazy River's intertube. If I recall correctly, Surf Cincinnati's and the Beach's rental tubes were good on every thing from wave pool, to river, to slides, etc. So the blame cannot be put onto any guest when there are employees sitting near by who have the explicit job to.... not let the wrong tube to be used... Yes but at some point the guest has to look around and see that no one else in line has a tube. I completely understand guests not realizing a color difference between tubes but Zoom Flume is in large 4 person rafts that are brought up to the slide platform by a lift. Guests don't bring up their own tube.

I believe Soak City has a similar setup. I think the red tubes are only for Thunder Falls while both blue tubes along with the yellow ones are for Splash River.
