  1. My tradition is to always try to get by the picture folks on international street withough getting our pictures taken. I would always sing that Mission Impossible theme song and kinda sneak by with a crowd and hope the crowd gets hit and not me. It's become harder since they have backed away from the main gate area and are closer to the paths, so the crowds thin out a bit and makes it easier for them to catch ya. It's silly, but fun.
  2. You might be a PKI addict if...you go to Jungle Jims just to see the monorail.
  3. I just like the environment. The sights, the sounds, the smells. I could go to PKI and have fun just strolling through the park. Fortunately, I also get to enjoy the rides as well.
  4. "the wait isn't nearly as long to get your booty wet." Arrr, thar'll be hell tah pay if any water touches me precious booty, arrrrr. Sorry.
  5. Well, I've usually considered rides that are indoors and try to use the ride as a way to tell a story dark rides. TRTR falls into that category for me. When it was first announced it was being called an "adventure ride." Which to me shouts out "dark ride". Plus, a lot of it happens in total darkness. I don't consider FoF a dark ride because it's just a coaster indoors. The story is told before you ride, and doesn't continue on the coaster itself.
  6. When employees at Top Gun actually start handing out Mach 3 razorblades as you exit the ride, then I'll be worried. Until then, it's just money for the park. But they really shouldn't add it to themed rides, because it just kills the theming.
  7. The Haunted Mansion is art in ride form. PT was just a trimmed down version of a classic from the large ballroom ghost scene and statues that follow your movement, to the ghost in the mirror at the end. It was okay for Kings Island, but I could never get over the fact that it was just an attempt to emulate a classic. I kind of want to see that Amityville remake. I thought the original was pretty boring. I'm not just saying that because I'm desensitized to the old stuff because of the newer flashier grittier horror movies. I still think older greats like Dawn of the Dead, The Exorcist, and Texas Chainsaw rule all. Amityville is just too dated, and a little too much like its better similar story The Shining. At least the trailer for Amityville Horror gets me a little freaked. I think if PKI gets a new dark ride, it should be something along the lines of Disney's Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. I mean, something fast and as exciting as a rollercoaster. I'm sure they wouldn't want to pay the price to make something that cool and well-themed (and of course I'm not thinking it'd need to be themed to Indy.) But I would prefer they make a completely new dark ride, not re-theme the Enchanted Voyage area, or stick a flat ride in a box.
  8. Yeesh. A few years really does a number on that paint, eh?
  9. No. It's a futuristic picture from the year 20011 when all that is old is new again. And they have the "very classic" antique car ride which took the place of the 20th version of the "classic" Italian Job coaster. I wonder if they'll make a super version of the Flyers by then that'll circle hundreds of feet above the park from the Eiffel Tower. That'd be some high G snappin'.
  10. I rated mine by how much fun I have on each one and/or how much I anticipate riding it again. I would most likely have the carousel a little farther down the list, most likely just above SOB.
  11. 10.Dodgems 9.Vortex 8.Viking Fury 7.Top-Gun 6.Drop-Zone 5.FOF 4.Face-Off 3.Racers 2.Delirium 1.Beast Hopefully IJST will knock Dodgems off my list.
  12. As long as they keep the Gillette theming, I'll be happy.
  13. I don't think I've ever felt more lost on a coaster than on the Legend at night. I totally got the crap beat out of me because I could not see anything. And that thing has those crazy lat-G's. That was fun.
  14. I'm interested in what the Tower will look like. I always love it when I drive down from Dayton and come over the hills on 741 and see the tower get closer and closer. I wonder if it'll stand out more from a distance now.
  15. Don't forget that the Smurf Ride and Carousel operated during it.
  16. What would be nice is if they could arrange a Christmas show in the Festhaus like they used to so you can enjoy it while you eat. Those were good times.
  17. I believe during the Fearfest last year they had FOF going with absolutely no lights. That was great. Even after riding it so many times with the minimal light they usually have, I still didn't know which way I was going. I thought it was neat to ride it once with the lights on because the track is neat looking all twisted and whatnot, but it's much better with them off. As for The Beast, I was so mad when they put lights in the woods. It's so much better in the dark. I had a friend from work who got hurt riding it back in the 90's when it had no lights and he jarred something in his back and complained to the park (he had to wear a brace for a while). I'm assuming things like that led to the lights being turned on. And I don't believe all of the thousands who love The Beast have been brainwashed into loving it. We just know a great coaster from a mediocre one when we ride it.
  18. Can anyone else confirm that who has a pass? I'm surprised nobody would have noticed it yet. Do any other Paramount Parks have Winterfest?
  19. I was at Cedar Point's Halloweekends a few years ago when it was in the upper 30's (with a below freezing windchill one of the workers told us) and everything was operating. I believe it was the year MF opened, and even that was open. That was an awesome night since it was not very crowded, but it was super cold. So yeah, coasters can operate in those cold temps, but the crowds of course will drop as fast as the temperature as well, so it wouldn't be good business sense.
  20. Well, Winterfest worked in the past for a while, and based on the surveys PKI put out in the past, I think they're interested in making it work again. I hope they do because it was a very pretty and magical event Kings Island used to produce and I believe it would be very well received.
  21. No. But I think they should bring back Winterfest.
