  1. Only you would bump something 2 years in advance and say "How quickly they forget". The Interpreter... is that a misnomer or what? He's more like The Encrypter. I mean he mentioned in that thread carrion, which is purifeying flesh! Huh??? I enjoy his "diversions" a lot though. The thread I was referring to: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/1078-the-italian-job-stunt-track/page-7 **POST 100!**
  2. Terp, this thread bump of yours reminds me of one you did on an old IJST thread in the summer of '13. I'm sure you recall. Has enough time passed to where you can decrypt that?
  3. We have a problem in this country of not seeing celebrities as real people. Society tends to see them as mere figures for their entertainment. Although I understand a certain amount of flack coming with the territory, at the end of the day they are just human beings like you and me. I really doubt whoever green-lighted these displays would do the same if Steve McNair was his brother or Farrah Fawcett his sister.
  4. Further adding insult to injury, when caught, the park actually denied that the Steve McNair murder-suicide scene ever existed.
  5. ^^^^ Which to me can be worse than no apology at all. There's is no admission of wrongdoing in such an apology.
  6. The 2009 incident was completely and utterly classless. I don't care if it was a publicity stunt or if it was truly intended to be a display. Call me sensitive if you want, but those were real people who were murdered, cancer victims, or people who lost their lives in their addictions. Excuse my hearty chuckle because that's some funny stuff right there. Some things ARE off limits, and to pretend otherwise is asinine. I would never try to gain publicity in an immoral way. Did the park ever issue an apology? *Slowly steps off soapbox and takes a deep breath.
  7. The Terpster just "outretroed" me. How old is he anyway? I'm going to say he's in his 60s. I've heard of some of those shows Terp, but not all. I like old TV shows. The good, clean, feel good sitcom needs to come back.
  8. I hope no one expected Kentucky Kingdom to be a 7th Heaven in its first season back. There was bound to be some Growing Pains. The park just needs to improve Step by Step. It doesn't always matter if there's a Full House, but the park can't forget Family Matters, and families spend.
  9. I know someone who visited the park in the '70s and worked there in the early '80's. He has a pass now, and he said that it's very different now. He said that going to Kings Island used to be SPECIAL. Now it's "hey let's kill a couple hours at Kings Island." It's still very fun mind you, but it's not special once you get a season pass. It's hard to place all this with nostalgia getting in the way. I remember as a kid in the 90s and early 00's our yearly trip PKI was quite special. How much do you guys think the parks original intention as more of a themed destination park like say Busch Gardens Williamsburg or Dollywood was killed with the introduction of the season pass? Sometimes I wonder if the industry regrets the day they ever introduced season passes, or maybe to a much lesser extent pay-one-price. Less kids, more big spenders.
  10. So it would reopen as Kings Island's Soak City and then be renamed simply Soak City and then possibly close after that? What is it you say, running for the door?
  11. ^I knew that was coming. If Big Sexy/YoungStud was here he would have been the first to say something like that.
  12. Sort of off topic here, but I had a thought. What if KI added some kind of rattle to the back of the Diamondback trains. You probably couldn't hear it much except for when the train was crawling, but I think it would be a cool touch. It is a rattle snake after all!
  13. The truth is that Oktoberfest and Coney Mall both need a little attention. I'd love to see The Racer painted red, white, and blue again. The coaster that brought back coasters deserves a little more respect.
  14. If someone could take the time to share specifically why he believes Cedar Fair may not own the park in the not too distant future I'd appreciate it. Don't get yourself in trouble though. In an ideal world, If Cedar Fair goes, I'd like to see a good family take over Kings Island. Good ones are few and far between, but nobody else treats a park like their baby.
  15. You guys don't realize how fun those ring loopers can be. I rode one at Lake Winnie, the smaller version I think. I think they're great.
  16. No hard feelings. Of course, bad management can result in poor choices in any business. Apple could be bankrupt in 10 years; no one knows. My point was directed at KI Fanatic who alluded to the end of The Beast, which I took to mean "when it reaches the end of it's life cycle." The Beast has the potential for a pretty much unlimited life because woodies are rebuilt slowly over time. The Beast seems to be about as popular as when it was built so I don't see people suddenly not liking The Beast. There can always be what ifs or exceptions, but I think it would just be a waste of time to mention all of them.
  17. ^^ I said PROBABLY never as long as it was popular and barring a fire or disaster. In other words, it is not impossible for it to be voluntarily removed, but very unlikely. You seem to like to ignore the message of my posts, and instead pick at them.
  18. As long as The Beast is popular, (don't see that changing) and barring some kind of fire or disaster it probably will never be removed. Wooden coasters have an unlimited life if properly maintained. Look at Kennywood. Steel coasters on the other hand are often hit harder with the concept of obsolescence, and the steel simply gets fatigued with age and use. Space Mountain in WDW was completely re-tracked not too long ago. How many other steelies would get that treatment? Why not a woodie, just curious?
  19. Gold Striker opened at California's Great America in 2013. I wonder if a GCI is more likely at the largest CF parks now that GCI has shown that they are willing to make a coaster large enough for 3 trains. The Son survived with 2 trains but it was THE SON. It wasn't exactly a fan favorite.
  20. Yes I do. I still confuse those names fairly often.
  21. I think it wouldn't be greedy to want some kind of new attraction, (or unrealistic). If nothing is added for 2015 then they really took two years off, one before and one after Banshee. The Reds Grille is nice but probably was pretty cheap. I'm not sure about the SOB removal cost. Also they're is sizable heat coming from Santa Claus, Indiana and a to a MUCH lesser extent from Louisville. When was the last time a family ride, (not thrill or kiddie) was added to the dry side? WindSeeker was marketed as a thrill ride. Is it? Eh, I don't know. I think it was IJST if I'm remembering right.
  22. So with the 2015 season passes now for sale when do you think we may see a 2015 announcement? Could this be a Red's Hall of Fame Grill type year or maybe a WindSeeker type year? My guess is Memorial Day weekend. EDIT: Labor Day Weekend not Memorial Day Weekend. That already happened.
  23. ^^^ I'd rather see a wood coaster at KI next myself, a post-disco era woodie if you will. I know someone will mention SOB but that was a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
  24. Nothing's free. They're running a business, not a charity. What you want to look for is 'mutually beneficial' - which this is.Absolutely, I hope you didn't misunderstand me. It would be ridiculous for me to expect them to operate like a charity. It's good economics to create value and that seems like what they're doing. I think the pass preview is smart. They have a probably larger than usual season pass base coming off the Banshee debut. They are taking steps to keep them. They know that some may get lost over the winter. Season pass holders are being shown that they are appreciated and valuable through these perks.
  25. I love the idea of perks, but they are really only as free as Holiday World's drinks. Love the gift horse expression. Here's a classic, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.", (double negatives aside).
