  1. Same thing here, we are in Kentucky and drive further to go to KI than the closer park Kentucky Kingdom. Takes just a little over half a tank to get up there and back.
  2. I love being able to put everything on the payment plan, quite honestly we would never be able to afford it if we had to put it all down at once. This is pretty much our only entertainment and knowing we only need gas to go to the park is amazing.
  3. Let me know how it is, I'm anxious to hear about your experience.
  4. Yeah I only like it crispy as well, but I know a lot of people prefer it chewy. For me it was just difficult to eat with the bacon being chewy and the crust on the bread. And I agree, hopefully they will listen to customer comments and tweak things a bit, then I would probably love it.
  5. Oopps, I forgot, so sorry!!! Lol I actually met a friend this weekend that hated The Beast until I took her in that row!
  6. Have you tried row 17? I like that row the best and it does not shake you, super smooth for beast. My husband still insists on front row, which like as it's a very different perspective, but I will take 17 over any other row.
  7. We tried Brew House on Friday. The line was pretty long to get in but went quickly, which was a huge improvement over last year. BUT, with them having both lines now for food orders, it took my husband 20 minutes of standing back in the line just to get a soda refill, I don't know what the solution is to that but it sucked having to wait that long for another soda. I like some of the menu but I'm also disappointed. Everything that sounded amazing was pretty much not on the dining plan, which means for us we won't ever have it. We do the season dining plan specifically so we don't have to have money in the park. I wasn't a fan of them taking a decent regular hamburger and making into a double patty McDonald's like burger. I knew going in there were changes but what I used to order the most are both gone. . Grilled chicken sandwich and grilled chicken salad. Yes they have a salad with grilled chicken but it's Caesar which I do not care for. I asked about just having a plain mixed greens with chicken nope can't do it. The new KI house salad sounds yummy but it has no protein on it, only time I will want that is if it is really hot and I'm not very hungry. I saw a salad come out yesterday and it was small. The double bacon burger sounded amazing, only $1 more than the burger on the dining plan, but yep you guessed it, can't have that either even asking if I could pay more for it was a no. Then asked can I get Munster on the order, nope can't do that either. Now the chicken tenders dinner only comes with honey mustard, no other choice. So I settled on the three little pigs, this wasn't bad, as others have said, the pulled pork in the park has gotten good in the last couple of years. My husband had the fish sandwich and he said it was good. We both liked the tater tots but agreed this is something we will get tired of quickly. I loved the sweet pickles, for me that was a great addition. We went back on Saturday because just like others said, we wanted to warm up. Friday service staff was excellent, checking to make sure everything was good, taking plates away, etc. This wasn't so much the case for us on Saturday. I ordered the bblt and my husband ordered the pub burger. When it came out the server gave him an impossible burger, quite a difference from beef. I told her no that's not right and her response....well that's what was on the ticket. No I was right there when he ordered, it was a pub burger. She looked like she didn't want to be bothered, so out came a supervisor. Tried to explain the same thing to him, just wanted the burger on the dining plan. So he took it away finally and few minutes later comes out and gives my husband a PLAIN cheeseburger with nothing on it but cheese, again that's not what he ordered. I had to take care of this as he was in line for a drink refill. So again they took it back and finally came out with the correct item. He said it was ok but not like what it used to be. Again, I know this is just personal preference, not saying it was bad. My bblt I honestly was not impressed with. The bread was so chewy hard like that I had a hard time biting into it. The bacon I liked the thickness but it was also chewy and not the way I like it, way undercooked. I could definitely have been ok with this but the HOT spread they used instead of mayo was way too hot for me. I'm not sure if you can get just plain mayo or not. My tater tots were not nearly as good as the day before, they weren't as fresh. Our friend that we sat with had a pub burger and wasn't all that impressed either. I understand that things change but it's frustrating that what seemed like all the good items were not on the dining plan. This won't be my go to place anymore due to this. I do have to say that the grilled sausage sandwich sounded good so I may try that sometime. I was quite impressed that there was a manager type person walking around asking how things were. I told him some of my observations like the house salad not having any meat on it. He seemed genuinely interested and actually wrote down my comments. So do I think this is a bad place? No, but it's just not really my preference. I realize this was only opening weekend so I won't say I won't ever go back because I know it's going to take time to get running fully. So my thoughts are it's ok but not somewhere I'm going to rush to every time I'm at the park. Luckily there are a good variety of options to choose from and not get bored with. We did go to Coney for lunch on Saturday and I like that they have actual food scales to weigh the meat, that was always a frustration in getting too little or too much depending on who was working. I am interested to see how things with food in general go as the year progresses.
  8. It sounds like it is changing, there's an article on the Kings Island blog, says there will be a brewhouse directly across from Mytic and also says it will be on the dining plan.
  9. You're right the burgers were much better at the beginning of the season, reason being they hired an outside food services company to staff until Memorial Day, after that I didn't step foot in that place but one time, after I saw how filthy it was I immediately left. They were not even busy, just very uninterested workers standing around talking. I also liked the mushroom swiss burger they had during Winterfest.
  10. I'm going to just say one thing, THANK YOU to the moderators on this page, to me they are great with this group unlike other groups out there that oh you can't say anything bad about the park, you will get scolded or removed. I'm sorry I absolutely love KI and Cedar Fair but especially in today's day and age, nothing is going to be absolutely 100% perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a healthy discussion, especially if it can help to get an issue rectified. I'm not that stupid to think that higher ups of KI don't read this board. What better feedback than from the parks biggest fans? I haven't been on here in a while but now I remember why I love this group so much, we are not monitored like school children. I'm ok with whatever the mods think is best for the group photo wise, as long as we still have a voice!
  11. Up until Wed we loved the reds buffet. Something was really off that night. The green beans were awful, my husband said something to an employee and their response was they had a different crew. And yes, no dessert, I asked and they just shrugged their shoulders. But when we were leaving the park we were in the trim a tree shop and they had the cookies for sale at the cash register, I couldn't believe it. We stopped at guest services just to let them know we were disappointed and we were told they didn't expect the crowds, that was not an answer as we were the second people in the restaurant. I was looking forward to having it NYE but now I'm not so sure.
  12. Ended up being crazy busy but we had a great time. I told my husband just watch it will clear out around 8-830 and it did, we had the best time rvere! We did reds buffet again and it was awesome. I don't know where they get those cookies from but I'm absolutely hooked on them. Can't wait to be back up on Friday.
  13. It was nice seeing you tonight and yes it was awesome doing the last ride. My husband got a kick hearing you during the ride! Lol
  14. It's a $5 per person upgrade for season dining passes
  15. We absolutely loved the buffet. I was really talking it up on Facebook and I guess I was in the minority, must people were saying it's not worth it, they ran out of everything, food was cold, and for us it was completely opposite, we went early which I think is what we will do anytime we go because it was fantastic for us, I'm so glad there are some new options and that they finally did something for dining plan guests.
  16. That's so weird, last night they were using the bigger bowls, I hate the inconsistency. They had a new person on the line yesterday and they were out of so many items, she had no clue sadly, I felt bad for her.
  17. I'm glad someone else feels the same I do, there's no place for alcohol at Haunt, just an accident waiting to happen.
  18. It wouldn't be haunt without the flames. I'm sorry, my opinion, if you don't like it then sit somewhere else, it adds to the spookiness of the park.
  19. I'm so glad you mentioned the coleslaw, I didn't eat mine yesterday as it tasted like it was about to go sour, I wasn't sure and didn't want to take a chance. My husband has always loved this place, I have been on the fence about it, sometimes good, sometimes not. Now if they had smoked turkey all the time I would be in heaven.
  20. Last year was my first Haunt. In 2015 I did Halloweekends at CP and enjoyed it. So my comments are comparing last year to this year. Last year my husband and both absolutely loved haunt and went on and on about it and quite honestly this past Friday we were disappointed. I know some of it had to do with the weather. Last year I loved the show they had prior to opening the park and how the monsters were released, this year there was nothing. We did cavern first and I like that it was dark and giving the flash lights. Planet Snoopy having nothing just seemed odd. Loved pumpkin eaters, best addition they had. As always loved slaughter house. Urgent scare was eh, no one really trying to scare. Loved field of screams and kill Mart was ok just not many scares. Now chaos on the other hand I thought was awful, hardly any actors in there and they weren't even trying. Coney maul has potential but I saw no clowns really trying to scare and basically saw them standing around talking. Makeup seemed really good this year. Hardly any scare actors walking around in other places. We didn't do would pack or blackout. Just the overall vibe wasn't there this year and our multiple attempts to eat that night were all not good. I'm not giving up, I love KI and hope in weeks to come it will get better.
  21. I'm so glad to hear that, we ate one our way and BBQ beef sandwich sounds yummy right now.
  22. I wondered about the rain too. I guess the Mac and cheese bar never opened yesterday, somehow that doesn't make sense to me, should they have not been prepared since they announced that would be an option?
  23. Yes, I was really disappointed, last year that was the really cool thing as you couldn't seen, so the scare zones were better. I've never been to opening day but it really seemed to lack something. Last year they had the little skit and then the monsters came out, nothing this year. I loved pumpkin eaters, but it wasn't scary. Coney maul I was extremely disappointed in, I saw characters just standing around talking to each other. A gal at kill Mart yelled at my husband because I was having a hard time walking and was trying to get thru, I'm sorry unless you are doing something blatantly out of line, there's no reason to yell at a guest ever. Chaos was not impressive at all, hardly any actors in it. We also had a horrible time w food last night, went to red and my burger was beyond charred, so I hardly ate. Later tried to go to Mac and cheese bar, it was only 1030 and they had already closed it. I'm not going to judge the entire season from last night but as of right now I'm just like eh, it was ok. I know some people said last year wasn't good but just from my impressions last night, last year was much better.
  24. I would go to GateKeeper and Valrayvn for sure, they accommodate larger people. We went a few years ago when a friend and she could not fit on Millenium Force, Dragster, and Wicked Twister. She got so mad we had to leave the park so I dont know about any of the others. I husband is 6'2" and about 245, only thing he didn't fit on this year was wicked twister. Every person is different, I would try the test seats and if need be ask a ride ops.
  25. And yes I disagree, just like I disagree with Fast Lane, but that's my opinion and if you struggle day after day you might think differently. My situation will never change because I'm disabled due to an idiot on his cell phone hitting me. So yeah maybe if I had money I would think differently. My season pass is literally the only money spent on entertainment. I have been to Busch Gardens Tampa Howl O Scream 3 years ago (and no I didn't pay, my friend did) and quite honestly theirs was right in line with KI. The park I had the greatest expectations for was CP and theirs is no comparison to KI.
