  1. Just an update to my post a few weeks back... I took my daughter who's 6 and a half on Friday and she was super excited until she saw the wall of monsters at the gate when we were having our passes scanned. She announced "I am not okay with this!" and we almost left. After a few high fives and waves from the actors she decided she liked it afterall so we stayed. She was totally fine with all of the decorations and the actors... until it got dark. Then she was really freaked out walking through the fog and not being able to see. We watched Skeleton Crew which she really liked but then spent the rest of the night running from ride to ride so that no one would touch her or try to scare her. It was actually kind of fun listening to her with her map out plotting the shortest safest distance from point A to point B each time. When the zombie apocalype comes, she will definately be a survivor! Overall, we got several night rides on everything, ate a lot of junk food, and she got rewarded with a glowing skeleton necklace for being so brave. We didn't attempt any mazes although she was tempted after seeing the girls in costume hanging out and chit-chatting outside of Delta Delta Die because she liked their dresses. Overall I'm glad I took her but we will probably stick to Sundays for the rest of the season. I am going this Friday for the first time all year with other grown-ups though so I am super excited to see the mazes and to finally get to ride the 54 inch rides that my daughter is too short for!
  2. LOL... I felt the same way about Demi Lavato singing "Let it Go" from Frozen.
  3. My really tall 6 1/2 year old who won't normally ride any of the kid rides or linger in that area longer than it takes to get a blue icecream because "it's for babies <insert dramatic eye roll>" went to this yesterday with my mom. I had my doubts that she would like it because it was geared towards little kids, but she LOVED it. She talked about it all last night and this morning and said it was the best time she ever had at King's Island. I was planning to take her next Friday night for some night rides on the coasters but now she only wants to go on Sundays instead so she can play games and ride ponies for $1. Now I'm excited to go check it out too!
  4. These ferris wheel pictures keep reminding me of a trip I took to Kings Island with my cousin around 1987... I was maybe 10 and she was 13. We waited forever in line and right before we got on a little girl threw up on one on the seats. They put that weird pink sawdust on it and just left it and then loaded us into the car right below it. It was a windy day and as soon as it started moving, all the sawdust started blowing back into our faces and hair. We freaked out and screamed like crazy for them to stop and let us off, but the ride op just couldn't fathom what our problem was and by the time he finally decided to stop the ride we were completely covered in pink pukey sawdust. It was the most tramatizing experience of my young life, lol.
  5. I also wear a size 18 and actually weigh more than you and I have been able to ride everything all summer. I usually need some help on Racer with that second click but have not had any issue with any of the other roller coasters (didn't try Flight of Fear, Invertigo, or Firehawk though because my daughter is too short to ride them). The only thing I have really had an issue with is Drop Tower. I'm not sure if it is my chest (about the same as you) or my height since I'm 5'10, but they sometimes have to squash me into it until I feel like I can't breath. If you are riding DT with someone and their assigned seat has an old faded belt and yours has a shiny new red one, make them swap with you. Theres a ton of difference between those new and old belts. One other tip I would suggest... with Diamondback, I tried the test seat and couldn't get the light to turn green with just pushing on it, but following a tip I read on another thread on here once, I tried it again and slammed the harness down all at once and it went to green with no problem. Now I do that every time I ride and it always works. Regardless of what happens, don't let it stress you out and just have fun.
  6. I have never been to Haunt and I have a question. I am aware that it is not recommended to bring kids... I read the disclaimer and I have read through some of the past threads about it. That being said, my daughter REALLY wants to go, mostly just to be able to ride the rides late at night but she is also into "scary" stuff like Goosebumps and the like. She's a pretty fearless kid, so I think she can handle it. I pulled up some videos on UTube from past haunts so she could see the decorations and the actors walking around and she thought it looked really cool and not too scary. I was thinking we would probabaly skip the mazes but was wondering though, if anyone thought any of the existing mazes were less intense than others? If so which ones? I thought we might try one just to see, but I don't want to freak her out too bad.
  7. Just a random observation but we were at KI on Friday and I don't know if someone finally fixed the guns or if we were just weirdly lucky, but we rode Boo Blasters 4 times in a row in different cars each time and every one of the guns worked. We usually just figure out which is the least crappy gun and I let my daughter use it and I watch, but we were both able to get really high scores which is why she made me ride it 4 times. It was the first time all season it didn't feel lame.
  8. Did it sound something like: Do you like waffles Yeah we like waffles Do you like pancakes Yeah we like pancakes Do you like french toast Yeah we like french toast Dodododo can't wait to get a mouth full waffles waffles waffles I don't know if it is "thing" but there is a a million videos on UTube for this song, lol.
  9. Drop Tower for two reasons.... one the obvious height and anticipation issue, but the other is am I going to fit. It's the only ride in the park I have an issue with. Sometimes I get a seat that I fit fine into with no assistance and sometimes they have to stuff me in untill I can't breathe to get the buckle to latch. This seems to be in direct correlation to how new or faded the belt looks on a given seat, but I am a nervous wreck standing in line wondering if I'm going to fit today or not. It's my kid's favorite ride though so I put myself through it every time. With regards to WindSeeker, I am also afraid of heights and I thought it would be scary but I found it very anti-climactic when I actually rode it. Yeah, you are way up there, but you are just poking around not very fast in a circle... kind of boring in my opinion. It's cool at night though being able to see the whole park lit up.
  10. I wish they had a grown-up version of those... I'm totally jealous of how much fun the whip around the ends looks.
  11. I have seen them selling the 3D glasses two times as well.... both times on Saturdays.
  12. I received my gold pass as a gift (thanks Mom!) and then waited until the week before the season started to buy my daughter's pass and the price difference was pretty significant at that time. Junior gold pass was $99 and adult gold pass was $117. She was right above the 48 inch mark at the time so she got an adult pass, but I could see having to pay $18 out of pocket randomly on a later visit when you weren't expecting it and hadn't budgeted for it could be annoying. I often don't even bring that much money with me because we try to eat before we go.
  13. That storm was crazy. I was at Aldis on Fields Ertl and when I went in the sun was shining no clouds at all. I even left the car windows cracked. When I came out the sky was completely black and it was raining so hard you could hardly see. Wet seats, wet groceries, wet me.
  14. Anybody there now? Currious how the crowd is and if it's raining in Mason.
  15. I do this too... I always put it on a chair over by the little kid pool because its always super crowded and I like to think that the the abundance of the watchful mommies in the area will deter people from taking my stuff. I never risk it with anything very valuable though.
  16. I was reading about that on another news website last night that had more info... channel 12 i think... and it said they had a whole system worked out where one would stand behind people at the kiosk while they were renting the locker and then would give the locker # and passcodes to the other one who would then go back later and get the stuff out after the people had left. It said they did it at least a dozen times. I can't believe they were able to do that so many times without anyone getting suspicious of the lady peering over their shoulder at the screen. I'm on high alert any time anyone comes near my personal space.
  17. I like how it is surrounded by trees... wouldn't be the same riding without my daughter screaming in mock horror every single time, "OMG we're gonna hit the tree!"
  18. My issue wasn't with her having them in the park it was with her wearing them on the ride... Luckily they landed at my feet and didn't hit me or my kid in my face.
  19. They must have changed their rule on this since the start of the season because I was allowed to have my daughter hold my bag for me while my husband and I rode on Mother's Day. I did get stopped at the entrance when they spotted my bag, but when I told them she wasn't riding and would hold it they said that was fine and let us through.
  20. Or buy a roll of Velcro for like $2 in the craft section at Wal-Mart and sew it on the pockets all the way across... Worked great and is way easier than trying to sew a zipper. Took 10 minutes with a needle and thread.
  21. Teenage girl behind me on Racer freaking out because her sunglasses fell off while riding and she lost them. They actually landed by my feet and I was tempted to not say anything to teach her a lesson... but in the end I handed them back to her. Then she didn't even say thank you!!!
  22. My 6 year old ride buddy as been staring longingly at Banshee all season and finally hit the 52 inch mark Friday thanks to a growth spurt, some new sneakers, and a bit of stretching. She practically jumped up and down shouting Banshee when they gave her the wristband. We rode it 4 times in a row during the day and then twice at night. It was fun each time but the night rides were awesome with all the lighting. Just a note about the fluffy seats. I was kind of worried I wouldn't fit so the first few times we rode in row 4 but then I decided to try another row for and I fit in the regular seats too. The differnece between the two types of seats doesn't seem to be much at all, so it must just be a slightly longer belt and not seat design. The only difference I felt was the normal seats were a little tighter on my thighs.
  23. I am totally guilty of the souvenier bottle on Racer thing ... the day I bought it I got a refill right before Racer without thinking and then put it into the messenger bag style purse I was wearing when I got on. As soon as we went down the first hill, the Coke got all shook up and spewed me in the face via the straw for the entire rest of the ride. I don't think I splashed anyone though because we were in the front seat and the entire thing was soaked into my hair and shirt when it was over. I learned my lesson though and have since ditched the stupid bottle entirely... free water only for me!
  24. I looked this up out of curiosity to see if it was saftey related only so I thought I would share. What I did find really interesting/weird was that amusment park rides are goverened by the Department of Agriculture. 1711.551 Duties of riders.(A) No rider shall fail to do any of the following: (1) Heed all written warnings and directions that require a person to meet certain conditions or to refrain from certain actions regarding an amusement ride, as determined by rule by the director of agriculture; (2) Refrain from behaving or acting in any manner that may cause injury or contribute to injuring himself or other people while occupying an amusement ride. ( The director, in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Revised Code, shall adopt, and may amend and rescind, rules governing the types of warnings and directions required to be followed pursuant to this section. Rules adopted by the director determining the types of printed warnings and directions shall include specifications as to the character, size, and print size of such warnings and directions. At a minimum, the rules shall require the following: (1) The warnings and directions prominently disclose the penalties imposed if a rider violates section 1711.551 of the Revised Code; (2) The warnings and directions be based upon the standards of ASTM or the American national standards institute, or any other principles, tests, or standards of nationally recognized technical or scientific authorities that research the proper use of each amusement ride and the potential injuries that occur or are unique to each amusement ride if it is used improperly; (3) The owner of the amusement ride display the warnings and directions in a public and conspicuous place on or near the ride.
  25. That's great! I totally understand the whole ride anxiety thing. I gained a bunch of wieght over the winter and while I haven't been able to ride many of the bigger rides this year since my ride buddy is only 6 (just one more inch to grow until Banshee though!!!), I lived in constant fear of the whole "2nd click" ordeal on Racer and Beast for the first few visits this summer. Finally though I just decided that I don't care anymore and to stop letting it ruin my fun time. On the upside, all the walking this summer must have done me some good because I can second click myself on Beast for the past few weeks.
