  1. Firehawk is one that I can only do once or twice a year. The feeling of my body pushing against the chest restraints...not fun. I worry the entire ride about what would happen if the restraints failed. Not logical I know and no other ride in Ohio gives me that feeling.
  2. I was wondering if that was new or something they did every time! I assumed he was part of the production or a friend. This was the first time I saw the show. Yes, shame on me I now realize for not seeing it earlier. My previous visits didn't allow for me to see the show - and my Sunday visit may not either considering the group I'll be with. I left work a bit early and managed to make it into the park at 5 - enough time for some rides and the show. It was totally worth the drive. The thing that I enjoyed the most was how much everyone on stage seemed to enjoy what they were doing. I can imagine that doing 3-4 shows 6 days a week can be challenging for them in keeping it fresh. But from what I saw it looked as though they were having fun and enjoying themselves. It was a fun show!
  3. Diamondback was a 15 minute wait and The Beast line is 1/2 way down the ramp.
  4. Find all the letters around the fountain by using a compass. It is one activity in a team building program run by an offsite group. My team did it a few years ago. When I get to work, I'll find the website in my work email and share. I would recommend it if your entire team likes roller coasters and didn't just go through major structural changes. Putting such a group into two groups to compete against each other isn't so successful in team building. Edited to add: it was Camp Kern that led this experience. The link is http://campkern.org/leadership-conferencing/teambuilding/mobile-teambuilding/
  5. I'm looking at my niece and youngest nephew's gold pass (JR, not adult and bought/processed this spring) and it doesn't mention Having to get a new pass. I bought theirs online and don't remember seeing anything about needing to pay the upcharge for adult pass when they hit 48" in the middle of the season. I couldn't find this fine print on their website until I went through the portal to buy a regular pass. My concern is the lack of consistency and good customer service. Depending on who swipes our passes for our next visit, I'll have to pay an additional fee for only one more trip to the park. I fully understand the need to prevent people from skirting the system. That makes good business sense. However, that's not happening. As others have said, in terms of good customer service and showing they understand that children grow - measure them on the first swipe of their pass for the season. Then they keep that card for the season. That is logical and will give a sense of good will to the customer. If we go to the flip side, I seriously doubt that the park would issue a partial refund for someone who has a birthday and now qualifies for a senior pass. Their pass doesn't change for the season...but the children does? No thank you.
  6. Same here with my youngest nephew. He was about an inch under when we processed his Gold pass in May. There are black tic marks on the wall where the pictures are taken to note their height. Two visits ago, we were told that he was close to the 48" and may need a new pass soon. The last time I took him, he measured 48" for the ride but nothing was said at the gate. I think, as many have already said, good customer service and consistency in policy should reign. With a pass that has been used multiple times, if the child hits that 48" mark just swap the Jr for the Adult pass. Or just have the policy that if you were height/age at the time of the first use of season, it is good for the entire season. That would prevent people from "cheating the system" but also allow the understanding that when a child hits a growth spurt in the middle of a season, they aren't penalized. Depending on the pass, the upgrade fee can be quite a chunk of change and families may not have budgeted for that.
  7. Deleted as I didn't realize my phone posted the quote. Still learning...
  8. We would think so...but not so much. BMT patients are told not to drink anything away from home that isn't sealed. The bacteria in fountains that a normal immune system would ignore can make them severely sick with infections that there may be no treatment. Ice machines are equally a huge no-no.
  9. If someone has a compromised or suppressed immune system, one (of many) things they shouldn't do is get anything from a soda fountain. Sealed bottles or cans only. If we are lucky, the nozzles on the machines are cleaned every day. The tubing on the inside, however, rarely gets cleaned. It's a great place for things to grow that wreak havoc on those weakened immune systems.
  10. Only if I'm traveling for work, need program supplies and no other store is open.
  11. Great! Thanks Magenta Lizard and jcgoble3! I didn't think to look in the mens section last summer. I have to give it another shot.
  12. Lorax and Magenta Lizard - weird question but where did you find your cargo pants/capris? I tried to find some last summer and failed miserably. All the ones I found had too small of pockets. I didn't even bother looking this year.
  13. I wear a running type belt that is just big enough for my car key, pass, license, credit card and phone. I wear it around my waist between my tank and tshirt when walking around and slide it up to be just under my chest when riding. It isn't the most flattering but not that noticeable. I haven't had any issues with that for rides at KI, Knott's, CP, MA, or Carowinds in the last year.
  14. Congratulations! While this trip may not have been ideal, I have a feeling you will look back later on it and laugh. I hope you have a long and joy filled marriage!
  15. I would love to see a new paint job and the eviction of Canada Geese. There can be beauty in simple but grand. It's such a calm area to sit, relax and people watch. I would not be a fan of a massive light show with lasers and such. I know people that are sensitive to lights and they can trigger migraines and epilepsy. That would not be a fun way to end the day.
  16. Magnum is one ride that I ride every time I visit CP as I want to love it as much as everyone else does. I like the ejector air; the slamming into the lapbar, not so much. Last year I tried different seats and rows and all seemed equally painful. This year, I paid closer attention and tried a non-wheel seat. It was less painful and I was able to enjoy the ride more. Maybe that, along with the recent changes listed above will help you?
  17. Oh PDA. This Onion article made me laugh. Nations Gratuitously Sexual Couples Announce Plans To Wait In Line At Six Flags: http://www.theonion.com/articles/nations-gratuitously-sexual-couples-announce-plans,36538
  18. I second The Interpreter. I can easily fit on everything at KI but the seatbelts on MF and TTD give me trouble every time. Between my wide hips and the placement of the seatbelt, I tend to need help with it. The lap bars are fine, just the seatbelt. Also, depending on your upper body, you may have trouble with Wicked Twister. It may take some maneuvering.
  19. This is sad. I hope it's not done for the season as it's the ride my nephews like to use to torture me. Well, that and Monster. I've seen our team work on some program materials. It's surprising how much they have to move or take out to make some repairs. Hopefully that is the case here.
  20. I would recommend avoiding the 71 to 270 to 23 in Columbus. The construction on 23 just north of 270 has everything more of a hot mess than normal. The 71 to 250 is my normal way to get there - the Goasis on 250 in Ashland is my favorite place for a quick break and restroom stop. (edited to correct typo)
  21. My niece and youngest nephew rode it for the first time yesterday. They loved the entire experience and was fascinated by the organ. Unfortnately, I don't remember the organ from my visits in the 80's but I remember loving the ride as a child. I'm glad that this experience continues!
  22. We pulled in to the parking lot at 10:30 and it's filling up fast. The gloomy sky is not keeping people away. I have my youngest niece and nephew so we'll be in Planet Snoopy for the day. I'm not going to be much help for wait times.
  23. I wonder if the employee's purpose was to let the mother know that there was a more comfortable place available? At work when I've seen people breast feeding or changing their child's diaper in awkward or uncomfortable places(for the parents), I've mentioned that we have a nursing room and all the restrooms have changing tables. It has never been my intention to tell them they can't nurse there but share that there is a more comfortable place for them if they would like it; many folks aren't aware of it. I can imagine how a poorly trained person could completely bumble that up. The first time someone started to breastfeed in the middle of one of my shows as a 17-year-old was so very uncomfortable for me as I didn't know what to do. They didn't cover that in our training! Sadly, the park's response to this situation after could have been handled better.
  24. A friend was on Diamondback and as they were going up the lift hill a phone fell and hit his chest. He was irate, sore and bruised. Last summer, I was waiting to get on Magnum when they stopped the train on the lift hill. A ride op went out and came back with his hands full of phones. I guess that was why I was so surprised and disappointed in being shrugged off at Millennium Force a few weeks ago. Why can't people just put away their phones and enjoy the ride? It's always far better than what can be found on their phone.
  25. I wondered about pictures on that ride. At Michigan's Adventure you can't use your phone; a teenage girl was told that during my ride. I would love to leave my phone in the car but I have to be on call in case there is an issue with my team. The cell phones out on rides is the one of the only things that can ruin my ride experience. It happened during a night ride on The Beast and during the day on Millennium Force. Both times once I saw the phone, I was watching it to make sure it didn't hit me. That shouldn't be a concern in a ride. At Cedar Point, the ride op even asked about it as we pulled in to the station and she laughed and said no. When I told him that she was recording the entire ride, he just shrugged. Most other things I can handle as part of large crowds.
