  1. I enjoy all the rides in Action Zone, but I agree, the theming is pretty much non-existent at this point. Back in the day when Congo Falls was relatively new, and King Cobra still stood, it kinda had a jungle theme. And that was pretty cool. But it's mostly a concrete jungle today.

Acknowledge a double post is in fact a double post and all is fine, got it.  Something to consider adding to the TOS as it doesn’t currently have that exception.

I never understood why double-posts were so violating in the first place. Let it go. I remain surprised how many people do not like BLSC though. My whole family enjoys it, and has for many years. Is it the best thrill-ride ever? Certainly not, but it's an in-between ride with a launch. Something the whole family could potentially enjoy. But I guess they don't? We like it, so there's that...lol.

Just out of curiosity, do people still like The Beast? I seen a lot of people complaining on the facebook page - Kings Island season passholders, about how it needs re-tracked or RMC treatment. Please God don't let them RMC The Beast! It just celebrated 40 years a couple years ago too so I would hate to see it get RMC. If anything, have gravity group do some work to it like they did to Racer in the off-season.

Lol. Do people still like Kings Island? I see a lot of people complaining on facebook...

  4. Lots of people on these forums have been to the park way more than I have, but in all the past 5-10 years that I can remember I've never seen them open with the blue trains. Not once. My theory on why they run the red trains is that it's more visible to guests. If they put moved the blue trains over to the track that the red trains currently run, I figure they'd run the blue trains first. I have no idea though---just my guess.

  5. Would another ride like Flight of Fear make sense? Nobody talks about it much, but a ride built in 1996 has some awfully long lines day in, day out at Kings Island. It's the closest thing we have to Magic Mountain. Doesn't move a lot of people quickly but the fix for that is to built something bigger/longer. And yes, people will wait to ride it, that much we already know.

Think leaving my fob on my driver’s side front tire is still safe?

As long as you leave your address on it so they know where to return it, absolutely. LOL.

I've made one trip to the park thus far and I felt very safe. However, I've mentioned to people I know and work with that the park was trying to hire 900+ people at wages starting at $18/hour, and their jaw hits the floor. Many of them are unfamiliar with park---doesn't matter---shock. Maybe things really are crazy understaffed to the point that it's not quite right. I don't know. I really want to give the park the benefit of the doubt. However, it has me wondering.

The thing is people loitering around in an amusement park lot is not and has never been an uncommon sight.

Checking Amazon reviews on The Club and other anti-theft devices right now. The whole catalytic converter thing is getting out of hand as well and not so easy to prevent.

Just leave your .38 under the drivers seat or in the glove box. Please and thank you. ;-)

Think Guest Services will refund them the $10 Preferred Parking upcharge? :P

Probably better. That was actually the part of the story I found most shocking. It's so close to the entrance and so many people just meander across that lot and likely could/would see something. Bold.

That doesn’t really make for a great evac story to tell for years to come does it?  None the less and evac is an evac.  :P

I mean, when you've seen your little girl perform a faceplant getting off the Kite Eating Tree (sorry, no pics...sadly), anything is a potential hazard...lol.

  10. That whole intersection is very "blah". The city of Mason needs to put up a "Welcome to Kings Island" banner or something. You get off the interstate and yes, sure you can see some of the coasters and all, but rather underwhelming. That land he put a hotel on must be worth a fortune. And yet it sits empty.

  11. I think the bathroom patrol has been especially good since covid. And he did totally diss KI staff, which is honestly almost always very good. And he didn't mention another chain. He was talking about another park within the same chain.

maybe someone has an ax to grind?

Probably. I've had so many positive experiences interacting with KI staff I could write a report going on for I don't know how many pages. And I don't know how clean Carowinds is, but KI certainly isn't dirty.

Well, I made it as far as Kings Island Drive, and once I saw the vehicles at the intersection and the line on the road going to the toll gates, I spun right back onto 71 south and came home.  Its been a good run folks, but seeing that just made me realize that this is it.  It isnt the rides that did me in like happened to my Wife in 2005, but the people and the crowds.  I hope you can all enjoy this hobby for many years to come, it was a good one for me for about 20 years.

Over the long-term I think the park being packed will hurt business (compared to right now), and we'll see things balance out. However, as we're just coming out of a pandemic with a bunch of money printed and thrown to the masses, I don't think it balances out well anytime soon. That said, there's still opportune times to get in and out of the park in a hurry and hit some rides, pending your schedule. Regardless, I respect your decision either way, and understand. We've all got a bazillion choices to make with our time and money right now. Standing in line for an hour+ to ride a 2-minute ride is not for me either.

  14. Noticed lots of security at the park today. In a good way. Looked like some were being trained. They made one guy change or cover his shirt because they didn't like it. He had a group of people with him---didn't matter. Get rid of it, or leave. He found a different shirt.

Another guy right behind me on Beast literally answered his phone as we were waiting to roll back in the station. The ride had stopped, so it wasn't a massive safety concern but clearly against the rules/law. He was advised by the ride op that he just committed a misdemeanor in Ohio as he and his buddy scurried away as quick as they could.

Grown men both stories. But I feel like all the park workers were at least trying to take a stand.
