  1. I've long thought a splash battle would be a great addition to Riverton. The last water ride added was Amazon Falls I believe. A new water ride is looking over due.
  2. What about a splash battle on the river town side and a couple classic flats on the coney mall side? Its been a long time since a new water ride was added and this would certainly be family friendly.
  3. While I do agree that BLSC is a huge eyesore with half of the effects working and think the placement of the ride was a horrid choice. The lost the tiques and eagles for it makes me dislike it even more. KI is not going to remove a multi million ride with good reliability that has guest ridership. When the time comes for BLSC to be replaced I hope something is built that looks classy or really fits in well. This plot of land is in the center of the park and right now it looks like a concrete monstrosity with shipping containers.....blah
  4. I really like the fountain upgrade idea as well. I was just in Pigeon Forge and went to the Island. they have a fountain show that runs with lights and music at a regular interval after dark. I think it would be cool to upgrade the royal fountains to do some type of night time show as well. They could run it before the fireworks or maybe even sync the fireworks and fountains together in one show.
  5. I voted that I both think KI and want KI to build a B&M giga next. Really it could be Intamin or B&M I like both. I just hope they don't get over saturated with B&M. As much as I like their rides I think they should try to offer a diverse line up of attractions and one way to do that is offer different manufacturers who have somewhat different design philosophy. I would also like to see a Mach multi launch at some point.
  6. I am crossing my fingers for a new dark ride. I think it would also make sense to redo Boo Blasters with Triotrch. Something Peanuts related. Then for Halloween you could overlay it with the great pumpkin and then for Winterfest it could be changed for that season as well Sent from my SM-T550 using Tapatalk
  7. I would love to see a flat ride midway on the path where paradise island is wrapping around to coney mall by the bumper cars. Put in a couple flats and new antique cars. Sent from my SM-T550 using Tapatalk
  8. I have been listening to some of the songs posted above and I don't think I have heard some of them since Cedar Fair bought KI. I'll tell ya though they are taking me right back to international street in the 90s and early 2000s. Amazing!
  9. Calakapepe I'm in the same boat as you. Still need to get on El Toro but I also feel like Gold Striker, Ravine Flyer 2 and Bolder Dash are probably up there as well.
  10. I just got back from a trip to Dollywood where I was lucky enough to get on all of their coasters including multiple rides on Lightning Rod and Thunderhead and I must say that as good as Lightning Rod is (and it is very very intense, maybe too intense), I think the better of the two and even the best coaster in that park is Thunderhead. I expected to have a new number 1 wooden coaster after riding LR but at best it is my number 3 wooden coaster (behind Voyage and Thunderhead) and maybe not even that. So after all that I left Dollywood even more excited for Mystic Timbers and GCI coming to Kings Island. I can't wait until the spring, Bring it on!
  11. I also was thinking that MT could share some similarities with Maverick. After it crosses over the lift to go towards White Water Canyon it looks pretty low to the ground and will carry a lot of speed and quick transitions throughout the course. I just watched a pov of Gold Striker last night which has similar stats in height and length and was really impressed at how fast it was over the whole course. I really think MT will surprise most people.
  12. I had suspected that KI would announce a GCI and had long hoped for one in the spot where MT is being built. I have never had a bad experience on a GCI (except Gwazi in its later years). In an interview with Adam House he said that being that GCI has a local office he is excited to have one of their rides so close to take potential clients to see. I can only hope that means that this ride will have a little more time and attention put into the design to make it something extra special. The only thin that I am disappointed with are the animations released by the park. I feel like the physics and some of the modeling in the animation is way off from what the actual experience will be and overall the animation is meh. It is clearly No Limits and is not even close to being on par with how good the animation was for Banshee.
  13. I was considering either going to Soak City today or Sunlight Pool as today is the final day for both this season but after hearing that Bill Clinton is speaking at Coney Island today I'm pretty sure that I do not want to deal with crowds and security issues there and Kings Island also sounds like it will be pretty busy.......May just have to find something else today.
  14. I am pretty pleased with a new GCI coaster. After riding many modern wooden coasters I have wanted one at KI. After hearing some of Don and Greg's remarks about Prowler and Gold Striker in the past I fully expected a GCI to show up at KI at some point. I think the logo looks great and the name is growing on me.
  15. I believe they could count Surf Dog as a coaster.
  16. That's so great for the Raven and Holliday World. Such a fantastic ride. Such a fantastic privately owned park that continues to prove that it can compete with the big budget chain parks. Congrats!!!!
  17. What a wonderful article. As a member of the Tomb Raider opening crew it was a great stroll down memory lane. There had never been anything like it before nor since. It truly was a fantastic attraction in its original form. My heart aches a little every time I walk through River Town and see what has become of the entry plaza and thinking about what once lived inside the giant box behind. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to be a member of the rides crew.
  18. Looking at the layout the ride does seem to be rather simple, short or maybe under whelming. As stated above "Drop, Immleman, Midcourse Break". However having ridden Sheikra several times I can tell you that the experience is much different. The first half of Sheikra is very similar to Valraven. Drop, Immelman, Midcourse Break. The first time I rode Sheikra I expected to be underwhelmed and thought the ride would be too short. After actually riding it I felt very different. I was completely satisfied with the ride length and experience. Also the holding break at the top of the lift is absolutely terrifying. It was like taking the best drop ride you have ever ridden and then throwing a coaster on the end of it. As good as the animations and POVs have become they will NEVER substitute for actually riding the ride. I think this will be a great addition to the Point. They have an un-matched variety of coasters. This is one more notch in their belt and I say keep em coming!
  19. I find it funny that 2 of the attractions listed have not even been announced yet.
  20. That is very cool! Every day I am more and more amazed at how much the greater Cincinnati area has going for it. Coming from someone who used to travel a great deal for work. Do not take Cinci for granted. There is as much or more offered here as any other city out there!
  21. I walked past yesterday and made a point to look. It is definitely Turkey Legs.
  22. I made it up for few hours Sat evening and was not surprised to see it pretty crowded. I got my Banshee fix and was surprised to of only waited about 30 min. Was going to ride Diamondback but it had a 75 min wait posted so just decided to walk around and check out the new additions. The park looks great as do the Gliders and Space Buggies. I did notice something interesting when I was by the front gate. I looked over towards the stairs that lead up to the old International Restaurant. They used to be surrounded by windows on the ground level but now are partially walled in with a glass double door. There was some type of plastic attached on the glass so you couldn't see in. However if you looked up above the door there was no plastic to obstruct the view. It looks like some type of work is being done inside the old stairwell. I remember hearing on and off rumors about the International Restaurant making a comeback but there were accessibility issues as there was no elevator. Its got me wondering if that may be what is happening here. The reworking of the stair well / installation of an elevator so this might be opened again one day.
  23. I have found several pod casts that I enjoy listening to. The Season Pass Podcast is probably my favorite. Those guys do a great job, good production quality and they are interviewing those in the industry that you would want to hear from such as Disney legends like Tony Baxter and Bob Gurr as well as trip reports, ride manufacturers and even some over seas stuff. Another favorite of mine is the Disney Dish Podcast / Disney Dish Band Camp. This is done by Len Testa the creator of the Unofficial Guide touring books and writer Jim Hill. Some others include: In The Loop Podcast, Orlando United, Coaster Radio and WDW Radio.
  24. Don't forget to try Banshee at night also. I feel like inverts like Banshee are definitely worth the wait to ride in the front if you have the time. Last season they were assigning rows on Banshee but would often take requests if you wanted the front. The other thing to keep in mind is that it seats 4 across so that wait for the front may not be as long as it looks. I agree that Banshee, Diamondback and Beast are the star attractions here. Diamondback is a very different experience depending on where you are in the train. As stated above, Firehawk is a pretty fun ride but has a painfully slow line. Vortex has a line that can be deceiving. It has almost not queue area so the line can spill onto the midway and appear super long but in actuality is not and the ride has a very high capacity. I wouldn't expect super lines on Friday night, Saturday could be a different story though. So I would just play the Fast Lane by ear. Something else to consider is the food at the park. Two Cincinnati favorites are Skyline Chili and LaRosa's Pizza. Kings Island offers both but I fee like their food is better if you try it at an actual restaurant location outside the park (and cheaper too). I believe both can be found close by. Holiday World is absolutely worth the trip. The Voyage is one of my all time favorites and I can't wait to try Thunderbird! Depending on which way you are traveling from Kings Island to Holiday World you could drive through Louisville and also check out Kentucky Kingdom if their season has started yet. Hopefully that helps a bit. Have a great time!
