  1. That said, Auto-spiels get really old really fast, too. While at SFGAm, I got very, VERY sick of the wannabe Mr. T giving the auto-spiel for X-Flight. I'd be all for an auto-spiel in a normal human voice. Theme the rides, that's fine, encouraged even. But don't theme the auto-spiel. The results are usually nothing short of irritating. Alright, stunt team, listen up... I do appreciate a themed auto-spiel if it fits in with the ride. Sometimes they would get old for those of us who marathon rides, but think of the better options a themed spiel would have. Adventure Express for example. The same voice that talks about the missing train and closed run could also be the same one to give the spiel inside the station.... Same thing for Flight of Fear, the actors in the video in the queue could be the ones to give the spiel. I think an automated queue is good in general, might be a few times that a ride op might need to chime in like "All electronic devices must be secured and put away.... all electronic devices must be secured... I'm not starting this ride until you put your phone away!!". I think I heard something close to that almost every time I rode Viking Fury this year.
  2. And while EnterTrainment Junction is making a large amount of money off of the holiday season, Kings Island is digging a hole in Planet Snoopy.
  3. Judging by the webcams it looks like they are referring to over where Snoopy's Splash Dance currently is, I saw some people working on it earlier. Also, thread is about the cameras being moved from Kill Mart to where the construction of the two new rides is taking place, it's just gotten kinda off-topic.
  4. I like that idea, maybe theme it as the North Pole.
  5. Maybe they can put a new basketball game there in front of where Kill Mart is, I think the park is lacking basketball games and really could use a new one. Maybe a slam dunk game. /sarcasm
  6. Americana is always the park that comes to my mind first when I hear about these types of things. Visit this site for some pretty good information about it: http://www.forgottenoh.com/Americana/americana.html
  7. Seems excessive to keep that arcade shut down, all the arcades always seem very busy and are good alternatives during pop up rain showers. I would think the arcade brought in more money than Kill Mart, plus the scary façade would be way off theme wise for Coney Mall. Of course that hasn't stopped them in the past...
  8. It seems to work fine for Festival of Lights, and the target demographic is going to be same for a Winterfest event as it is Festival of Lights, not the same demographics you see during summer operating hours. Now if you had an open flame with them around, yes that would be stupid.
  9. ^ LOL, totally called someone complaining about it right away.
  10. I've had them at Festival of Lights and they were delicious, of course they were more pricey buying the items at the zoo but that's expected, and the fire was already made for me so I figured why not.
  11. Just off the top of my head on what I think Kings Island could do with a Winterfest: - Obviously we have the different buildings on International Street that can stay open with selling what they sell - We have Boo Blasters which can stay open, that is unless they decide to do maintenance on it (which I would totally be ok with lol), doubt it would be very easy to add a holiday theme to it though with the exception of a few Santa hats on the characters here and there. - I've never been in a Haunt maze so I'm not sure about this, but how hard would it be to change the theming of just one of them to be an area dedicated to getting your picture taken with Santa? - Obviously no rollercoasters would be open for this, you would have to be insane to get on that, plus Kings Island would be in the middle of winter maintenance and that would take a huge chunk of time away from that - I do think though that the two carousels could stay open, or just one if maintenance required it, and they could play Christmas music while it goes - The Kings Island & Miami Valley railroad could also continue operation, they could slow the train down some to counter the wind chill factor, the Cincinnati Zoo runs their train through Festival of Lights and it never really bothered me much to be on it in the middle of winter - There would be the obvious ice skating on International Street, weather permitting - Kings Island could also run a few firepits throughout the park, and before everyone starts yelling "OMG lawsuits, people are dumb, etc.", this is something that is done at the Cincinnati Zoo during Festival of Lights and various farm events for Halloween and I have never seen any incidents. And this would also be a nice opportunity to sell s'mores. - They could also add a nice light show onto the Eiffel Tower or maybe even do it throughout the Action Zone area since none of those rides would be operating at the time anyways - And of course on top of a light show would just be having general holiday decorations throughout the park All those attractions put together would be worth between $15-$20 in my opinion, now if they sold tickets for $20 per person, would they be able to bring in enough people to make a profit, hard saying, but like most have said and the park has made pretty clear, it's very unlikely we will ever see a Winterfest at Kings Island again. But the optimist side of me see's a great opportunity for a wonderful night of entertainment with family and hope to see it soon.
  12. A little bit more information on what they are looking for with these auditions. Anyone think they would take a middle-aged man that can only work 2 days a week? http://www.lex18.com/news/kings-island-calling-on-artists-for-season-auditions
  13. Via the Kings Island Facebook page: We're holding entertainment auditions for the 2015 SEASON this weekend at the park, Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9, and casting/interviewing for: "LET IT ROCK!" -- Classic Rock comes to the Festhaus stage in this all new rockin' revue! 14. News article regarding this... http://www.wlwt.com/news/kings-island-resort-and-conference-center-closes-doors/29522088
  15. I have only ridden it once in the last 6-8 years mostly due to the line always being way too long, but I used to ride it a lot when I was younger (and could handle long lines much better). The theming doesn't seem like it has gone away too much from what it previously was, I've never seen Outer Limits so I'm not sure how much of their theming was actually based off of it, but as far as I can tell it's the same ride minus the last car and pictures.
  16. I agree that Winterfest would be fantastic to bring back, it was one of my favorite things to go to as a child. I feel though the last few attempts at it have left a bad taste in the mouth of management for Kings Island with not making any money. I like the idea of cheaper admission with limited staff due to no major rides running. Only question is, with cheaper admission would they be able to off-set the costs they still have to maintain such as payroll, electric (would still be high with a major lights display), and general maintenance costs. It would be nice to have an alternative to Festival of Lights though, like Voicetek stated, parking is atrocious down there in late November / December. As for an idea to have with it would be a nice themed train ride, they did some theming on the train with Halloween, can't see why they can't do the same for Christmas time.
  17. Boo Blasters and Adventure Express theming repaired.
  18. Woodstock Express! Hoping next year the little one hits the 48" mark so that can change lol.
  19. I think moving Snoopy's Splash Dance to Soak City would be a good idea, only reason my daughter hardly ever went in it is because it had to be done back to back with a trip to Soak City because of the obvious bathing suit requirement.
