  1. I started riding it 1-2 years after you. I loved it then and still do. but... This...just because something is loved and is excellent does not mean it is perfect and immune to being improved. I'm not saying it NEEDS it, but the portion I mentioned above being changed slightly wouldn't destroy the integrity of the ride (unless there's a structural/physics issue that would cause it to, literally, destroy the ride).
  2. I agree. Anybody who's remotely competent with google can find them
  3. I seriously doubt the ride can be made much faster. There's just a lot of physics and forces involved that would require too much. There's only a few things that I believe could be changed to improve the ride for me that I mentioned in a previous comment.
  4. Honestly, I just want whatever we get to be fun and high capacity. Yeah, giga would be awesome. Yeah, GCI would be cool. Yeah, RMC would be cool. Just want fun and lines with as short a wait as possible.
  5. Getting backwards racer back would be amazing
  6. It's hard to say how I feel about this. When I was younger I actually loved that it was a rough coaster - it made it feel like it fit the theme of "there's a big scary monster out there and you have to avoid/escape it." Now, after decades of coasters and other trials I've put my body through, I do wish it would be a little less rough of a ride. I do enjoy the layout, the terrain, and pretty much everything about the ride, but it's not one I can ride multiple times per visit like I used to. There are some stretches in the ride (not sure if the sections have names/designations)that are mainly just straight/level track through the woods (like the part under the wooden roof shortly before the second tunnel). I'd like to see some sort of change there, maybe a slight drop and airtime hump or something. Anything other than that, and I think you change the ride too much from it's original form and risk making it no longer The Beast. It might also impact the momentum/speed of the trains too much to be feasible.
  7. The other day when KIC's twitter said something along the lines of "if you haven't ridden the train today, you need to go right now" (or something along those lines), I asked if someone could post any photos of new stuff for those of us unable to make the train (I really won't be able to visit the park until July sometime). So...any photos anybody can share?
  8. I think if you sit in the right seat (or wrong, actually) on Vortex, it can compete with AE, but I'd agree with you overall.
  9. After 30 years, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. Best built Arrow ever?
  10. I am going to try to fly over in the next week or so and get some photos from the air. I would agree. Submitting 'fake' plans would, basically, be an act of fraud. Submitting changes to already submitted plans should be ok, though (I'm assuming there's an understood "within reason" and/or "extenuating circumstance" clause when talking about the amount of change). I'm not a lawyer or in construction etc, just my take on things.
  11. So KIC twtitter said to go ride the train right now. I'd have loved to, but I'm ~90min away and by the time I saw the tweet the park would have been closed...and my better half would have been ready to strangle me. Did anybody get any pictures? Can someone get some? I won't be visiting the park until after July 4, now, it seems...
  12. "Leaks" haven't hurt the hype surrounding other major Cedar Fair projects. Coaster enthusiasts finding & sharing public records is inevitable anymore. People are talking about KI 2017 now more than ever. An announcement that's a complete surprise would be cool, but construction schedules don't always work out that way. Not to mention that you don't want people expecting to top Fury when that's not what you're doing this year. Underpromise & overdeliver. By the way, if you have "insider" information and are subject to a NDA (or frieNDA) as you suggest, staying away from relevant speculation would be prudent. Consult this site's terms of service... Also, we are in a VERY VERY VERY small minority of park goers. KIE on FB has <1500 followers. I don't know the numbers on this site, but let's say it's the same. ~3000 people out of the general public are aware. Ok, probably a bit more since those folks probably told their spouse etc. This "leak" will not impact the general, park going, public's reaction one bit.
  13. I think most of us are thankful, but squashed expectations changes tone. I'm not disappointed because it doesn't appear to be a giga, but that from the basic view we've seen it doesn't look exciting to me. I hope I'm wrong, really. I hope my lack of understanding of plans of this sort makes me very surprised once we see more of the actual ride.
  14. I was thinking this as well, but like mentioned, this does not show scale or details. This is simply showing the layout, and what will happen in each "zone" there could possibly be more information to be had on these plans, but without seeing them??? That would likely depend on zoning by the city/township/county/etc. In some places, you have to submit plans and get them approved prior to being allowed to break ground for the posts.
  15. While I already admitted lack of knowledge/understanding in reading plans... Aside from the portion at the top-right of the image, it looks like an out-and-back ride. As far as coast layouts are concerned, that's not very interesting to me. I'll reiterate that we don't know height, drop, scale etc and that COULD make the ride more interesting. I'll ride it at least once, maybe even on every visit. But, right now, it doesn't appear to be something that be in my top 3 at the park. If I end up being wrong, I'll gladly admit it here. (or whatever thread is appropriate at that time).
  16. Maybe I'm completely missing your meaning here, but why would "pretty big lines" on a Wednesday make you worried/nervous? Wouldn't that mean the rides are popular? Isn't that a good thing? I remember lines for The Beast stretching well into the park, nobody was worried about the ride, then. edit: speaking of, anybody know of (or have a link to) a pic of the paws painted on the ground for that line?
  17. Assuming the post is legit - I don't know much about reading prints like this, but unless there's some detail in other parts of the plans that weren't posted...it looks like a relatively pedestrian ride. BUT... It's very hard to get a sense of scale, height, etc...
  18. Perhaps I missed that... I'm just saying that the trains seem to have been a recent theme. Pic of green train - what KIC is looking for cannot be found on this train Pic of blue train - what KIC is looking for can only be found by those who know it's there (or where to look?) (No actual mention of the train in this one) Pic of blue train - major key The only difference (that I'm aware of) on the trains is their color, the color of the cars they pull, their name and the number on the front. Idunno, I just think it's using the train in the photos is intended to get people to focus on the train to look for a clue rather than the actual location of any clue(s).
  19. I'm beginning to think the train itself is the misdirection. What else is in that (craptastic quality) photo that could be important?
  20. Oh, I know. Like I said we weren't upset by it, just didn't understand.
  21. It didn't seem odd in the moment, but the last time we rode DB we were asked by the ride op by the gate if we minded waiting one more cycle. We didn't hear the rest of what she said as the PA kicked in and drowned her out, but we assumed it was a rider that needed some sort of special help or something. We were cool with waiting, the next train was just hitting the brake, anyway. Then they brought someone from the opposite side to get in one of the seats we would have been in. He needed no special help that we could see. This is what made it odd to us. We weren't upset by it (OH NO, WE HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 90 SECONDS TO RIDE!), just kind of wondering what the deal was. I wanted to ask the young lady to clarify, but she was busy and the crew was working rather fluidly with dispatches and I didn't want to be the reason that was disrupted.
  22. Yeah, I took my phone into the park with me when they added ride times. It was so inaccurate that I now leave my phone in the car. "Drop Tower wait is 15min? LET'S GO!"....90min later we're getting off the ride.
  23. Seeing that photo of the old flume reminds me of sitting outside the old exit of The Beast when I was too little to ride it waiting on my mom and brother. At least, my memory seems to remember them being close together...
  24. I've been told Father's Day is not a good day to go to the park because it gets pretty crowded. Does that have an impact on the day before, or does it tend to be a typical Saturday crowd?
