  1. I love the webcam! I visited this week. While I had a great time, WinterFest has lost a lot of its luster. For the first time, I left before ten pm, both nights. First night, right after the parade, second night around 815. The only performance I didn't see was The Mistletoes. Didn't see any merriment characters on the midways except Mr. and Ms. Tannenbaum, and some elves driving around in an antique auto. The lighting ceremony, Tinkers and What the Dickens were great as usual. Sounds of the Nativity was incredible. The "Christmas in Rivertown" sign was a great surprise! From potato works to Jingle Jazz, it was dead. As was the usual pathway from LaRosa's to the floral clock. While the giant elf and the icicles are cool, there is no energy. I waited in line at Enrique's to try a churro, which was prominently features on the menu board. After waiting about 10 minutes, when I asked for one, I was told they were out and had been out for a few days. I bought some gifts from the candle makers, that was cool. I had planned to buy the new The Beast hat, but decided it was too much money. One of the few times I didn't spend money on something related to The Beast. Staff was amazing, as always. Something just felt odd... during the parade, the characters were moving their mouths but the voices were canned. I didn't even bother riding Mystic Timbers. Familiarity breeds contempt. This is my 6th WinterFest so maybe I need a break next year. I had planned on going back on Tuesday and Wednesday, then for new years eve if work isn't crazy, but I've decided to forgoe that because I don't want to drive 5 hours round trip, twice in a week and two hotel stays. Am I the only one?
  2. Uh oh. Who broke the Eiffel Tower Christmas tree tonight? Surely they didn't buy lights where one goes out and they all go out ... ( This post is sarcasm)
  3. While I agree, I'd guess with all the site prep, utilities and theming, the overall budget was more. If Railblazer is scrapped, I'd guess it would make a great parts inventory for the other single rails in the combined company. Hopefully all four have interchangeable parts.
  4. Let's not forget that Cedar Fair caused many of the problems with Steel Vengeance in particular. It's been said that RMC proposed an entirely new lift hill, CP wanted the more traditional/imposing look. SV is a giant coaster that's balls to the wall the entire course, with much of Mean Streak remaining. More wood=more maintenance. More maintenance=more downtime. But this coaster had to be "CP worthy." Twisted Timbers is a much smaller coaster and hasn't had nearly the problems that SV has. Much of Hurler was removed and replaced. And RMC had experience with smaller coasters. And, it's been said that Kentucky Kingdom had thoughts of converting Thunder Run, of which Hurler is a mirror image, so they may have done a feasibility study there. That would give Twisted Timbers a step forward. (Side note...ironic that old names and a new name have a unconnected similarity...Twisted Sister... Twisted Twins...Twisted Timbers.) I can't speak to Railblazer. Prototypes usually have lots of issues. Fiesta Texas is already heavily investing in Wonderwoman modifications. (Side note: I've heard that Railblazer will not be relocated if/when CGA is demolished due to many welded joints. Is this true?)
  5. Another revenue stream. And this one has the new AE font but no animatronic figures.
  6. I will go to WinterFest for the first time this year next week. From the webcam, the park looks beautiful. But a couple of the Eiffel Tower sequences make it look like a giant lava lamp instead of a Christmas tree. I kind of miss the vintage 2017-18 Eiffel Tower tree vibe
  7. Interesting that the end of the press release mentions a park in California that's being run under contract. I thought they ended the contract with Gilroy Gardens back in 2021? Is that now reactivated? Or is this a mistake on a press release that highlights marketing and communications?
  8. I've read about the event and it wasn't a success. I do like that they have an event a sawmill creek resort that celebrates the season with some Winterfest touches.
  9. LOOKS. All of Kings Dominion is not open. They have no parade. Candy Apple Grove had a computer problem recently and the entire area went dark. The fans seemed to understand. Our fans would have complained for weeks. I'm not a fan of these pills at all, but to imply that KI doesn't go out is not a good point. I celebrate Kings Dominion and Carowinds for their event.
  10. I agree. They either need to **** or get off the pot with the PassPerks disaster.
  11. Wow, such a miserable time it's sounds like you have whenever you go to a park. Have you considered that folks who don't open up the wallet and spend money contribute to the problems you constantly bemoan?
  12. How to tie the Junkyard Coaster into Rivertown, your post, and heck, even the Coney Mall of yesteryear with the shaped ginko trees. Start at 9:10:
  13. I wonder why the Belschnickles only lasted one season at Kings Island? Seems like it would be a natural fit for the park, with the German heritage of the city. They are very popular at Kings Dominion, according to their fan pages on socials. Kings Dominion: I judge you admirable. Kings Island: I judge you impish.
  14. I think, in the past, the title was "Area Manger, Digital Communications" ( or maybe social media?)
  15. For those with multiple visits this season, is it a rotating menu or different carve it ups each weekend?
  16. I'm ever the optimist. But what corporate did across the chain this year was very short sighted. I guess you take the good with the bad, though. People whine that KI is spoiled and gets everything, but when the cuts come ki was hard hit,, to the point of it not being hidden. Anecdotally, I was at three other cf parks this summer and didn't see visible cuts. But then again, not being a regular there, I couldn't see deets.
  17. I live in the country. We don't have recycle bins here. Ive never heard of Reach Magazine...must be...past it's prime
  18. Canada's Wonderland sold BIC when I was there in May as well.
  19. What recycle bin? Didn't the environmental Grinch steal them all into his gray bags to take any cost savings back to corporate?
  20. One word: moist. Try to avoid the use of the word moist while being in Kings Island in the summertime. (Shudders at the thought of it)
  21. I saw this was being talked about at Kings Dominion, but haven't heard about it at KI. Sounds really cool! Thanks for getting the word out!
  22. Having the webcam on at work, on the 2nd monitor. Idiots are mounting the polar bears and acting a fool. I hope the polar bears are anchored into the ground. This is what you get with cheap passes. Bah humbug, I reckon.
