  1. Except Thunder Run and Racer, too rough!
  2. I'm just happy to be one of the first riders and witness what's in the shed and also the back is my favorite seat on wooden coasters!
  3. Defiantly! Imagine the line though.
  4. With Winterfest coming later this year, something I have thought about is attractions. A couple things have been confirmed, but in the history of Winterfest, all dark rides have been open including Smurf's Enchanted Voyage, Phantom Theater, Scooby's Haunted Castle. With that being said, do you think Boo Blasters will be operating for Winterfest, and do you think some Christmas themes will be thrown in? I think it could work good for Boo Blasters, as well as providing some more entertainment for guests visiting the park this winter.
  5. 1. Defiantly in 2012 when I got to marathon Flight Deck and Adventure Express to get as close as I could to see Son of Beast's final stand and dismantling. 2. I used to like the Flinstones Bumper Cars and Pixie and Dixie swing ride as a kid. 3. Yes, it would have to be Run-D.M.C/Aerosmith's "Walk this way" in The Beast's queue line. 4. I like The Racer the way it is but it would be cool to redo one train to go backwards again. 5. When your reduced to watching POV videos on youtube and looking at pictures to get your fix! 6. Most defiantly a dark ride like aspect or something along those lines, thats my guess anyway.
  6. I think that when Phantom was removed it was so the park could get rid of the massive expenses of Phantom. They went the cheap way with Scooby in 2003 and has been deteriorating ever since. I loved Scooby as a kid as I did Phantom and I do think that when Phantom was changed, it was a much more disappointing change then Boo Blasters from Scooby. Scooby and Boo are almost identical and never will reach the level of Phantom Theater. MaestroJr
  7. For those who may not have seen it yet, The Vortex sign has been refurbished and polished off for the rides 30th anniversary. I think it looks very nice but what is your opinion on it? Picture courtesy of Kings Island's Instagram page.
  8. Mystic Timbers has bits and pieces that remind me of Thunder Run at Kentucky Kingdom, anybody else see this?
  9. Absolutely fantastic and nostalgic photos shaggy, thanks for posting all these!
  10. Should be fun riding late on Mystic Timbers!
  11. I love to ride alone and dont really pay attention anyway while on coasters, they are way too much fun! I have gone many times alone and had as much fun as with people. The only ride that I hate riding alone is Banshee or Invertigo because being that there are more than 2 seats on Banshee and that you face off (lol face off) on Invertigo, it can get kind of awkward. But riding any ride is lots of fun regardless of company or not and like mentioned before, you might get a new friend out of it, I have made several friends while in line as you can both talk about Kings Island or the local area, anything of interest at the park really. Ive always had fun alone as you can choose your day and odds are you'll meet some folks along the way! MaestroJr
  12. Kings Island 2017!

  13. I agree too that both rides will probably only retire if the land is needed and unless a problem happens during the ride multiple times, I dont see either going anywhere. They were built much better than our short lived Son of Beast or something like that.
  14. I think Mystic Timbers will kinda be like a much more intense Adventure Express. I really am looking forward to riding.
  15. Best things are The Beast, Banshee, and all great coasters! Fountains and Eiffel Tower Park atmosphere and skyline Racer and older rides nostalgia Short waits usually Good Food Memories Bad things are: Long Bat queue to walk for a 10 minute wait Fun TV's in Boo Blasters Boo Blasters guns and props not working every year Opening photographers and annoying game people Ridiculous wait for Firehawk and Flight of Fear All three visits I made had The Beast and Vortex closed for most of the day, always a bummer! And thats about it.
  16. Things that Paramount got right -Good job with the theming -Great kids area -Installing Top Gun, FACE/OFF, Drop Zone, and at the time Son of Beast -For me personally great memories Things they did wrong -Removing most Hanna-Barbera themes -Removing Phantom Theater despite it being still very popular among guest (including me) in 2002. -Poor job of constructing and managing Son of Beast -Made the park kind of a gimmick -Always doing what the other parks where doing in the Paramount chain Overall though it was a good time at the park under Paramount.
  17. I was there when Son of Beast was brand new and there when it was being torn down. I had a special relationship with it from being to scared to ride it but also disappointing that I didnt. I always got as close as I cared to get to Son of Beast on Top Gun and Adventure Express as a kid. It to me was very fun to look at from below and growing up with it right there in front of me as a kid but it also scaring the hell out of me with its screaming riders and rumors. I remember it climbing its lift hill while I climbed on Adventure Express and looking up at Son of Beast and thinking no, never will I ride that wooden monster! I never did but I will cherish my memories with it and I even in 2012 made a special visit to pay visit to the Son one last time during Haunt. It actually was very sad as I grew up with it and remember when it was brand new and now in a flash a part of my Kings Island childhood was gone. I do have one of its structural bolts that got released shortly after its removal in 2012 and I also have stood on the track that remains two years ago during Haunt. Banshee is a great replacement, but I always will remember and cherish my childhood with Son of Beast! MaestroJr
  18. I loved riding Scoobys Ghoster Coaster as a kid as it and The Beastie and Adventure Express helped me get over the fear of roller coasters. I rode Scoobys Ghoster Coaster first which seemed very tall at the time and i really enjoyed riding it and then riding Scooby's Haunted Castle. The always seemed to fit well together and really Scooby's Ghoster Coaster and Scoobys Haunted Castle were always a must ride and favorite of mine as a little kid. Lots of great memories on both rides! MaestroJr
  19. Help, get away from me!

  20. Happy Halloween fellow forum members, I hope everyone had a good 2016 season and now we look towards the completion and opening of our new Mystic Timbers in 2017! I had a great final visit on Saturday, October, 29. It was a day of long lines and lots of riding so here we go! We arrived at around 11:30 and made an immediate run to The Beast, unfortunately though, it wasnt open quite just yet so we instead opted for The Vortex. A short wait and great first ride of the day, afterwards we visited The Racer for another early morning ride. Rode near the middle on the Blue Racer and had a fun and bumpy ride racing with our fellow red train. The Beast still wasnt operating yet, so we headed over to the Action Zone for a ride on Banshee and this is about when the park started really getting full. We had about a 30 minute wait for Banshee and rode again towards the middle. A really fun and dizzying ride on Banshee and this helped wake me up and get my adrenaline going! Afterwards we headed to ride The Bat and even it had about a 20 minute wait, which usually doesnt happen but still that didnt bother us. Riding 2nd row The Bat seemed to fly on alot faster then usual and seemed to last very quick! We then headed to the Festhaus for some much needed La'Rosa's and a quick breather. Then we began the second part of our day. We left Festhaus full and ready for some more riding. We headed for Boo Blasters for a quick cool down and a chance to up our scores from last time. We rode in car 1 and both got Master Blaster with a score of 1000 and for me 1210. Most things seemed to be working alright, except for a few things that havent worked in a long time. We left Bleakstone Manor and then headed to the Adventure Express. It was a normal 30 minute wait and even though it may not have the thrills, I have a lot of nostalgia for it and it seems to get more jerky every time I ride it! We then headed back to Boo Blasters and had about a 30 minute wait with the building full of people. At this point it really made me miss Maestro in the balcony as there really isnt any preshow before riding Boo Blasters. Looking up at the balcony, I really hope that Phantom could return in some way, but still I love Boo Blasters regardless. When we got to the front Boo Blasters stopped running for about 2 or 3 minutes and then started back up again. We didnt get very good blasters second time around but still did okay. We then rode The Racer again, this time in the red side and then Vortex again. By this time Haunt was about to start so we headed for some mazes. We did Slaughterhouse first and really had a fun time in it. Didnt get scared but still very thrilling. It was also cool to see the Phantom Theater furnace which I think had actually fire in it this time. It really took me back and its cool to see it still being used. We also did Board to Death and again it was cool to see the rat from Phantom, popping up and gnarling, moving its mouth in a scary way. I really am surprised that it still works good and looks good as well. Then we headed for a final night ride on The Beast! The wait was about 2 hours but well worth it. The Beast had red lights and smoke but besides that it was pitch black darkness. I think so far this has to be the best ride Ive taken on The Beast! We rode backseat and really had a great time on it. Ive never felt it be this fast and rough but at the same time very satisfying and loads of fun. We then headed for the exit on a very memorable final visit of 2016. Here is the photos I took. The Bat Old Son of Beast train next to Mystic Timbers box Vortex Boo Blasters Those eyes are always creepy Help, get away from me! Firehawk SlaughterHouse and Beast! Eiffel Tower eyes and fog Overall a great visit, and I tried to get photos of Mystic Timbers although really couldnt get a good shot although it looks really good so far. Had a fantastic 2016 season at the Island and look forward to 2017! Final ride count Beast-1 Boo Blasters-2 Banshee-1 Adventure Express-1 Racer-2 Blue-1 Red-1 Bat-1 Vortex-2 Mazes Board to Death-1 Slaughterhouse-1 Cheers!
  21. Boo Blasters is better at other parks as the blasters work much more fluently. I would love a Great Pumpkin ride in the current Boo Blasters building in the next couple of years as I think it could be better with the area, and could still incorporate the blasters and haunted theme in some way. That would be the best fit I think and probably the most likely although I like Boo Blasters fine though. Although Boo Blasters needs lots of maintenance and I think a change of scenery would be nice, but I am fine with Boo Blasters and love riding it in the meantime.
  22. Hello forum members, a question I have thought of a lot lately is what will replace Boo Blasters specifically in the same building in a few years. I just want to know if people on here would either like to see a new Peanuts dark ride or something different? I know there have been forums like this before but I just want to know your opinions on the Boo Blasters replacement and not mention the new ride that may be in the Crypt building, just what will replace Boo Blasters, Peanuts or not? MaestroJr
  23. Should have explained what I meant better, I just meant to say that they were over the head but should have told more about them, sorry bout that, thanks for explaining the seats better, jcgoble3!
