  1. Ok so are any of the mazes even remotely scary? My wife and I decided to go out there tonight for a couple hours and walked through slaughterhouse, the one that goes through the white water canyon cue and the one that is inside the old crypt building and none of them were remotely scary. They were extremely short as well. Disappointed but may try and go out again another night to try some of the other ones.

  2. I am confused. The KI app says they are only open 11am to 1pm on Saturdays in October. Is the park really only open two hours????

Edit: this was a few weeks ago that it said that. They have now fixed it to say 1am.

  3. I'd like Conneaut to be able to live on it's own, however I think that time is sadly gone. Too little too late I fear, and that's what hurts the most.

It would be. I'm suggesting paying that for the RIDE. (The excess over fair market value may be considered a tax deduction--Cedar Fair would need to consult its tax advisors. Remember, the park is owned by a charitable trust.)

The amount could pay off the creditors and the park could get a fresh start.

And quit skimming posts (you missed that the carousel mechanic is working gratis, too.)

As long as the market value of the ride is below a certain percentage then the entire "gift" to the charitable organization would be tax deductible. Otherwise only part would be deductible. Much like donation requirements to purchase seats at college athletics are usually about 80% deductible.
Actually, your example proves its the opposite.

The portion above the fair market value is the contribution--in your example, 80 percent. Even when an item given the donor has only minimal value, its fair market value is still deducted from the amount given the donee. See pledge gifts from public broadcasting--just like your collegiate athletic seats.

Cedar Fair still should consult its own tax advisors.

Terp, who does...stuff...during the day, for pay, even, such as it is.

Basically a person or company should not receive more than 7-10% in value to make their gift tax deductible.

Adding to this post that most of my experience comes from working in collegiate athletics development. We have to watch how many gifts we give donors very closely specifically because of them being able to write off their donations.

  5. The Diamondback crew does their best to get the trains out. I don't get why we are bashing on Diamondback so much when sometimes Banshee will stack, there are plenty of reasons for a train to stack. And it can not be sluggish Ride-operators. When I rode Diamondback this last Tuesday, I saw the DB crew working as hard as they could to send out trains (Note, they sent my train out quite quickly) and I've seen them send trains up the lift and are almost at the top before the other coaster even hits the Splash Down. So they DO get trains out at a fairly good place.

But there are MANY reasons on why a train will stack.

    Heavy-set people.

People not following the 'Shoes Must Be Worn Policy'

People not buckling up the seat-belt before putting the restraint down, resulting in the Driver unlocking the restraint or something similar to buckle up the rider.

People taking a long time to put stuff in a bin. Not wanting their drinks to spill-over in the bin, because that'll be a bigger problem.

I'm actually getting a bit upset that people are bashing the park workers who try their hardest each and every day to make sure it is the best day at the park. Sure sometimes things happen, but they truly do try their best.

    Mod edit: work information removed

How in the world does someone overweight cause the line to slow? I am definitely overweight and am on and ready before 95% of the train every single time.

  6. It's not the state fair, but I think the trend is transferable. Our county fair gets worse each year, which causes attendance declines which cuts the budget for next year and is a viscous cycle. The state fair may be similar. Plus the Fair Board has to deal with a vacated Freedom Hall since the KFC YUM! Center now has the basketball team has moved there. It puts the Fair Board in a precarious situation.

On another note, it's miserable at Kings Island. But a bad day here is better than a great day other places!

Freedom Hall is not hurting for dates. They get plenty of conventions and other stuff throughout the year. One reason the basketball team needed to relocate because of competition for dates in November especially.

  7. That is crazy that family thought that was ok.

On another note, does anyone know how much land is available to expand X-Base? Seems odd to have just the two rides back there and nothing else.

  8. My wife and I both have meal plans. But when we eat at Reds HOF grille we usually just split a buffalo chicken salad because it is so big. Nobody has said anything to us.

  9. I have basically three categories of dark rides: Dark coasters, Dark water attractions (something is in the water....), and Dark conveyors. Personally, if you put something in the dark, it's a dark ride.

I actually like this. Dark Rude should be. A broad category with many sub-categories. Same with coasters.

  10. Solo act again today for the 7pm show. I hope she is ok. Was only disappointed in that it likely is the only time my brother in law and mother in law will visit KI. They live in Washington and don't visit much.

  11. As I was just waiting in line for Vortex I saw them in the train waiting to unload. I looked back to the midway and saw a security officer. Out of curiosity I walked back to him and asked if they were still looking for the group. He told me he didn't know anything about it. I recapped the story and he followed them a bit before deciding not to act. Really disappointing imo.

  12. I followed them and snuck a picture from behind then sought out security to voice my displeasure. The guy said he would put out word to the other officers and look for them. Who knows if this is actually being done though. A phone to the head at 80 mph is potentially fatal.

  13. Omg... Just got off of Diamondback. I rode the second row left side. The girl in front of me had her phone out the whole time recording the ride. I couldn't even enjoy it as I kept thinking she better not let go.

As we get off the crew member just asks her not to do it again. So they saw her and did nothing basically.
