  1. Yeah the park is kind of crowded tonight for an early weeknight. I bypassed Banshee when I saw the number of switchbacks open. Even Sunday was a shorter line.
  2. Diamondback crew tonight is doing a great job. I guesstimated the line when I walked up to be about 35-40 minutes. I was very pleased when it was only 25. The biggest difference was the crew taking loose articles from guests and putting them in the bins themselves. This eliminated all the wasted time that normally happens when the bins get incredibly crowded and people are slow to go back to their seat. Edit to add that I let one of the crew know that they were doing a great job tonight. This really was one of my most pleased trips on Diamondback.
  3. Your trip reports are amazing. I especially loved those two peek-a boo pics of Banshee.
  4. WindSeeker makes me feel a bit uneasy as well. Never get afraid of the heights on coasters but that and Drop Tower get to me.
  5. Thank you for the link to your blog violakat. I will be a frequent reader! Great write up, it has me wanting to venture out to some more parks.
  6. Ring Road as it is called is quite busy when Freedom Hall is hosting events.
  7. Lol @ "instead of shooting you up." You would think the word Drop in the name would tip you off.
  8. Before I got my first season pass this year then started looking online and found this community I was like those you speak of. I lived in the Pacific Northwest for a number of years and had never heard of Silver Woods in Idaho until recently. All the years I lived in Portland I just thought the only parks even remotely close were in California. I grew up before all of that in southern Indiana and lived in Louisville as well. All the while I had never heard of Any of the Pa or Va parks or Carowinds. My point is that I can definitely see where the general public has no clue about these other parks and may think CP is underrated. I'm very much a rookie enthusiast but am learning more everyday thanks to this community.
  9. This happened twice while I was riding Racer and once on The Beast. Neither time could you hear what the heck the person was saying as it did not interrupt the regular programming just spoke over it. I kind of figured it out but some people might have had no idea what the announcement was.
  10. Ah my only trip to KK was during the fair in the mid-90s and it was a pay-per-ride type deal. Thunder Run was definitely a great ride. I would love to experience it again.
  11. Not to mention isn't the park part of he Ky State Fair for two weeks in August? Does the Hart ownership get any revenue from that or is it a part of the lease of the land? Not really sure how that works.
  12. After reading that story and how the whole deal went down in Indiana, I am really rooting for this park to succeed. I wish I had the money to make a trip down there.
  13. Congrats on the engagement!
  14. How is it today? I know it's a Saturday but I am really wanting to head out to the park!
  15. I wish they would add random facts about the rides they are showing. That would interest me a lot.
  16. I wish there was at least one place in the park that sold mixed drinks. Heck even Soak City does! I just don't want to walk all the way over there just for an overpriced drink.
  17. Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal, the backwards Racer and King Cobra of rides that I actually experienced and miss. I was shocked last August when getting to the park and seeing no KCBC and backwards Racer. I had been hyping up the backwards Racer to my nephew then looked dumb. Also walked around looking for KCBC for probably 15 minutes before realizing it was gone. Wish I had the chance to ride SOB.
  18. But the question is this: Did USA Today independently come up with that ranking, or did it come from a sponsored story written for the newspaper by Ed Hart himself? There have been several of the latter, including two in the Indianapolis Star, which is owned by the same company. At this point, I would not put it past Mr. Hart to claim superlatives in advertising based on his own vanity puffery piece.I have not seen USA Today's article, but the important thing to determine would be if were an independent ranking, or a press release issued by the park. Press releases by companies usually are just public relations tools. That would explain the advertisement in Nashville and Indy. I don't think they were "news" stories but paid advertisements. Whereas the claims about USA Today is being used by the park as an adversisement. The Indy and Nashville ads were exactly that, even linking directly to the2/$29.99 promo hosted directly by the respective papers. I believe at least one of the "articles" explicitly started this. Ok, so what is the problem with this? It is a paid advertisement and businesses do this all the time. jtro223 the quotes from these posts suggest the USA Today claim. I never saw it myself. I know it has been a problem that has been pointed out in other industries that companies buy ad space in the paper, write an "article" instead of an actual ad, then claim that USA Today recommended their product. When in fact it was that company that wrote the piece.
  19. My apologies. I get irritated by this practice as numerous industries have complained and yet USA Today does nothing to protect its integrity.

The problem is that stating they have a highly regarded water park according to USA Today when in fact USA Today actually never wrote it. It is deceiving advertising and has been a disputed tactic in more than just this instance. USA Today has been criticized for allowing entities to do this kind of advertising for a while now. Kentucky Kingdom's claim that the paper named their water park one of the best is not accurate at all.
  21. Please recap your trip on here once you've returned home. I know I would enjoy reading about it.
  22. I saw a ride from Knott's but I can't remember what it was called now. Looked fun. Haha
  23. Wow that is really cool of them. Good on you HW staff!
