Just for fun: anyone have some ideas for a new name for The Racer should it be RMC'd?

That's fun, I'll play.  For Nostalgic reasons, If this happened, I think the coaster should still carry the name 'Racer' in some way.  Sooo I like American Racer, Coney Racer, or to go full blown KI historical, it could be called The Shooting Star Racer.  :D

  2. I know there have been several lists on the thread  already, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in there.  These are just some random thoughts about things I'd like to see in the park 10 years from now, some of which do echo things that have been mentioned in this thread previously.

--Something added to The Vortex plot of land--.  I'd prefer to see a new coaster go here.  My preference would be a ground-up RMC.  I am wondering if something like Zandra would fit here.  I think the most likely coaster that CF might install in this plot would be a Mack launch, similar to Copperhead Strike.  I'd really be happy with anything though, as opposed to using this land for new flats, or interactive area.

-- Action Theater re-purposed --  I think there are some creative things that could be done with this building, instead of just using it for a Haunt for part of the year.  There have been several great ideas in this thread and others of what could be done with the building.  I'd like to see the return of a motion simulator type of ride, but with newer tech than before, and possibly 3D like what BGW has.

--The Tomb Raider Building -- I'm not sure that I am in favor of tearing it down for no reason, I like the haunt that is in this building.  But it would be nice to see it open for the entire season.  I think re-theming the entrance to a cave, instead of a tomb would be a good start.  That would at least help with the Rivertown theme.  Maybe a wild Mouse could fit in part of the building and also go outside?  Or perhaps just installing a smaller themed top spin inside would work.

--The parking lot does need some love

--Park Landscaping/Themed areas -- Kings Island has done a great job over the last couple of seasons with park beautification.  The Pavers and updates on International Street at the beginning of the 2019 season look great.  The updates in Coney Mall this year definitely look nice.  I hope this trend continues into 2030 and beyond.  I think the park could use some more trees, so maybe planting some fast growing pines in certain areas for shade could help.  More landscaping/foliage around the park would be nice too.  I also think going more "all in" on the themed areas would help the overall ambiance.  I like feeling like I am in my own little world, away from the outside when I am at a park.  Had a great experience at BGT this summer, and the theming and plant life (granted, it is Florida) had a lot to do with that.

--Action Zone--  I'd like to see Action Zone get an actual theme, instead of this melting pot type of vibe you get there now.  With some re-themes and painting of rides like Delirium and Drop Tower, and some trees added, it would be a great area for some sort of spooky theme.  With rides like Banshee and Bat already, it would make the most sense of the theme to go with. If this happens, I like the idea of an Adventure Express re-theme so that it could be absorbed into the new Spooky themed area.

--Soak City-- It is rare that I find myself in SC these days.  I preferred The Beach because of the large crowds at the waterpark at KI.  Having said that, some more shade, and more attractions would be nice.  I'd like to see a watercoaster and another slide complex added.  Maybe replace some of the old/original slides for slides that are better at line chewing.  I live a couple hours away from the park, so if I'm feeling like waterparking it these days, I go to Holiday World who has really built up a world class waterpark.

I'm sure there are others on my mind, but this post looks to be long enough for now!

  3. I like King Cobra for a Defunct Land video.  Would be cool to see what kind of footage they would find for it.  Really any of the rides from the old Adventure Village would be fun, not to just see the attractions, but also some old photos and video of that area in general as it was one of my favorite areas of the park when I was a kid.  The Animal Safari monorail ride could be interesting, especially given its history and the fact that the vehicles still exist at Jungle Jim's.  Screamin' Demon was my first inversion, and it had a good life at Camden Park after it left KI so it would be fun for me to see a video on that as well.

I think another good choice would be Phantom Theater.

  4. I think its hard to beat the Orlando area with the Disney and Universal Parks, plus with Sea World and the Fun Spots there and Busch Gardens an hour and a half down the road, there is really a lot to do there.  If there are young kids, Legoland is pretty cool and not far away.  Especially if you factor in all of the great waterparks around the area, its a good place to be in.

As for regional park areas, I live near Indianapolis and am within a couple hours of KI, Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World.  Indiana Beach about an hour away.  Cedar Point about 4 and a half hour drive and  Six Flags St. Luis about 4 hrs, Six Flags Great America about 3 and a half.  Pretty centrally located to some good parks.

I used to not like The Beast at all. But this year, I now have mixed feelings about the attraction. Recently, Kings Island had GCI partly re track both sides of The Racer. Before it was official that it was GCI doing the re tracking, some people thought Kings Island was going to have The Racer RMCed. This of coarse didn't happen. But now it makes me wonder this: When will the next wooden roller coaster at Kings Island get RMCed or re tracked by GCI?

I am not sure I would be in favor of the RMC treatment for any of the rides at KI.  Had SOB made it this far, that would be an obvious choice, and it's possible that would have been the best RMC ever.  However, that is not how things turned out.  Personally, I think that both The Beast and The Racer would be much better rides without the restraints they currently have.  If these coasters were still able to have the single lap bar of old, instead of having riders crammed into their seats with the currently used restraints, I think the ride experience would be a lot better.

Beast front seat at night is my favorite ride.  But the coaster has to meet a lot of criteria to get this top spot for me.  I think the constant upkeep that KI provides on both of these coasters keeps these classics in good shape just the way they are.  I am not sure it would be worth it on any of the other coasters in your poll, and also enjoy those rides for what they are.  Like all things though, just my opinion!  :)

As slow as ops are due to Covid restrictions a third train wouldn't help much. They would be stacking trains.

My experience the last time I was at the park was that the show in the shed was holding up loading anyways and there was significantly longer time between dispatch and when a train pulled in to unload than usual.  I can see three train operation not helping much on DB, but at least the day I was there 3 would have been better on Mystic. The line was about an hour long on a Wednesday afternoon.   Granted, there was not much sanitizing going on between train loadings that day either if that is what would usually be slowing down dispatches.

Just a curiosity, thank you for response.

  7. Saw this my Jul 3rd visit.  They did the routine on the midway in front of Zephyr.  They were all randomly picking up trash and then came together for the start.   Practice run before the stage opened up.  The managers were watching.  Pretty cool to run into it out in the wild.

  8. I think this building would be good for a large virtual motion ride like Battle for the Eire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.  Only instead of riding on the magical Irish fairy creature, you could be riding on the back of The Beast, paws with the broken chains and all, on a mission to take out the Mystic Timbers Creatures.  I think it'd be awesome and perfect for Rivertown

I bought a season pass. I plan on going late Friday night July 3rd, all day Sat the 4th and July 7th on my way back from 2 days at Mount Olympus. July 8 at Kentucky Kingdom. July 9-11 at Dollywood and July 12 at Kings Island.

Sounds like an awesome start to July!  We made a trip up to Mt Olympus the weekend of June 8th.  Had a great time there, hope you do as well and at all the parks you are visiting

  10. That is great!  Yes I will be attending as well.  Have not been to this park in several years and was thrilled to hear it had been purchased and would continue on.  Definitely looking forward to it!  I will be rocking the KIC shirt so if you see me definitely feel free to say hello.  Would be fun to meet you all in person  :)

My real question is how many people are going to try to line up at the parking lot before 10:30?

That is a very good question!  I could see the line being very long for that and backing way out down the street.  Especially the first few days starting with the 2nd going through the weekend.  Will Orion be running?  If so, I wonder if they will wait until later in the day to operate it to try to help avoid the 1030 morning traffic backup?
