  1. You should be ok with just buying the 1 FunPix pass for the single day visit. You are able to scan in multiple photos from the same ride so you can add everybody's photos in when you get off the rides. I'd only recommend purchasing multiple if the group is planning on being split up for any length of time. If so, then you might want to look at buying a 2nd pass.
  2. Awesome! I'll be there that day. Do we know if this ceremony kicks off right at park opening, or will the guests be speaking periodically throughout the day?
  3. And also pre-paramount days Saber Dance!! I have a locked away memory of eating LaRosa's and getting some fountain spray while this song played. haha!
  4. Thank you for the information! All of the 50th Anniversary talk triggered my memory of the video project presented at that Coasterstock and was wondering if it was still in the works or not. Definitely is understandable as to why that project was canceled! I did read @KIghostguy's Kings Island: A Ride Through Time. It was fantastic and just as you describe. Nostalgic fact-based story telling. It was very enjoyable! This was also a very fun source of KI History! I believe that I viewed this at the beginning of the 2020 shutdowns when I could not make it into the office. There are some other good videos out there as well like Defunctland's Son of Beast and Tomb Raider: The Ride among others. I've just always enjoyed these types of materials. Definitely appreciate the recommendation!
  5. With the many threads now discussing KI's upcoming 50th anniversary I am reminded of the 2019 Coasterstock. In that year's event, there was a presentation about a KI history film that was being produced, and the hope was at that time that the film would be ready for release for the 50th anniversary. The presentation included a short trailer that featured some past attractions such as Zodiac. Is there anybody here that has heard any updates on this film and if it is still in production and if so, is the plan to still release it in time for the 50th?
  6. That is definitely interesting. I definitely think this is more likely than KI getting the first one. I think Great America would be a good park for it. We will see what happens!
  7. Here's the thing. Mack and B&M are very expensive coaster manufacturers. With all that is going on right now, I'm not sure companies are lining up to install new coasters. B&M Dive..yeah yeah. We know that. Mack multi Launch? Sure put one at Carowinds. These aren't EXCITING though anymore. Enough parks have these close by where it is not different enough, per se to draw in crowds that aren't going to purchase season passes every year anyways. KI could do a spinner on Vortex plot like Time Traveler and that would be interesting and different, and intriguing and would be a huge hit. That's my number one vote for what I'd want to ride all the time and what I'd like to see here. For the park though, let's not forget Kings Islands History on innovation and uniqueness. Racer, Beast, Screamin Demon, OG Bat, King Cobra, Vortex, Outer Limits;Flight of Fear, Son of Beast. And while not Innovative, one of the few parks with a giga. Our drop of 300 ft. Mystic Timbers is the best GCI. BUT they only built it, the layout was designed by another company. What?? Did you even know that?? The S&S Axis coaster should go on this land. Kings Island and S&S should get in cahoots and Let S&S go all out here on this plot and give us a unique experience, a glimpse of our past and something that shows everything this new coaster can do. Old Kings Island motto. DO IT ALL. Showcase the Axis here, and make a deal where KI gets a big discount on being the flagship park to sell this. Hundreds of smaller parks get a less expensive version of this thrill coaster with the various elements in ours. We win, S&S wins. We get to install a new world class coaster at a discount due to its visibility for the manufacturer. And the manufacturer gets recognized for this model at a major park. And the Cedar Point who would not want to install one of these anyways in the near future, due to the newness of the model, and still needing a respectable modern woody plus needing world class status for its new coasters, has the lack of land to put anything on, where this model does not fit for a long time without removing a crowd favorite. So, they wouldn't gamble on this. Kings Island would. It's part of her nature. Let her do what she has always done. Innovate and impress the locals. Everyone else followed back in the day. Let's quit underestimating our worth by following trends and formulas. We aren't Cedar Point South. We are Kings Island. And that means something to so many people. Perfect Coaster at the perfect park.
  8. Cool find on these photos. I loved this ride up and through the trees. It's fun seeing this. @Shaggy thank you for this post, it's always fun to learn more about my favorite park!
  9. Congratulations! I've got mine pre ordered now as well
  10. Last year I was one of the lucky ones who got tickets for the event. I know how quickly it sold out. It was nice how KI handled the refunds for the canceled event. Regretfully I will not be able to attend this year due to a prior commitment that weekend. I hope everyone enjoys! In lieu of this event, I bought tickets for Holiwood nights and Keys to the Kingdom. Haven't been to Holiday World since before Voyage was built and never to KK so looking forward to that weekend for sure!
  11. I remember the Ice Skating show too! One of my favorites was "Game On' which I think was the same game show that you are referring to. That always made me laugh! I want to say that show was going on the first year that Paramount owned the park.
  12. So for Halloween every year, the Indianapolis zoo hosts what they call 'Zoo Boo.' During this event, they run their Carousel backwards and play Halloween themed music. Would be cool if KI could do this during haunt. Run theirs backwards (or not) but the big draw would be to play the Phantom Theater theme music through that Carousel's sound system. It would sound awesome and could bring more riders onto a classic ride.
  13. I did not know that you got to help on Orion beofre it opened! That had to have been an awesome experience I appreciate your response and can tell how much the park means to you.
  14. Just as a curiosity, VortexBFF, what is your current favorite ride at the park now that Vortex is gone?
  15. The old yellow color would fit right in with Woodstock too My vote was also for Diamondback. Definitely agree that it is looking really faded these days and a refresh would give Rivertown as a whole a sharper look.
  16. I'm just really disappointed. If I see a ton of these out on ebay come March or whenever delivery hits, ill be really upset that they didn't cap the amount available to buy per transaction at 2-4. That way real fans had a chance to buy online before it went to resellers. I got a notice they were sold out before 8:01 so these went faster than tickets to a guns and roses concert.
  17. Logged in at 758 item was not up yet. Went to site as soon as 800 hit and went through payment process and it was already sold out. These went in like 30 seconds. All payment fields were auto filled in and it took me less than half minute to hit check out. They were gone by then.
  18. I am not sure when FL sales started back up, but Sunday they were being sold for $100 when we got to the park at around 11:30
  19. Thank you! It is one of my favorites that I was able to take last season
  20. Last year was very busy on the last day of operation. But the weather was really nice plus it was last day for Vortex.
  21. That's fun, I'll play. For Nostalgic reasons, If this happened, I think the coaster should still carry the name 'Racer' in some way. Sooo I like American Racer, Coney Racer, or to go full blown KI historical, it could be called The Shooting Star Racer.
  22. I know there have been several lists on the thread already, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in there. These are just some random thoughts about things I'd like to see in the park 10 years from now, some of which do echo things that have been mentioned in this thread previously. --Something added to The Vortex plot of land--. I'd prefer to see a new coaster go here. My preference would be a ground-up RMC. I am wondering if something like Zandra would fit here. I think the most likely coaster that CF might install in this plot would be a Mack launch, similar to Copperhead Strike. I'd really be happy with anything though, as opposed to using this land for new flats, or interactive area. -- Action Theater re-purposed -- I think there are some creative things that could be done with this building, instead of just using it for a Haunt for part of the year. There have been several great ideas in this thread and others of what could be done with the building. I'd like to see the return of a motion simulator type of ride, but with newer tech than before, and possibly 3D like what BGW has. --The Tomb Raider Building -- I'm not sure that I am in favor of tearing it down for no reason, I like the haunt that is in this building. But it would be nice to see it open for the entire season. I think re-theming the entrance to a cave, instead of a tomb would be a good start. That would at least help with the Rivertown theme. Maybe a wild Mouse could fit in part of the building and also go outside? Or perhaps just installing a smaller themed top spin inside would work. --The parking lot does need some love --Park Landscaping/Themed areas -- Kings Island has done a great job over the last couple of seasons with park beautification. The Pavers and updates on International Street at the beginning of the 2019 season look great. The updates in Coney Mall this year definitely look nice. I hope this trend continues into 2030 and beyond. I think the park could use some more trees, so maybe planting some fast growing pines in certain areas for shade could help. More landscaping/foliage around the park would be nice too. I also think going more "all in" on the themed areas would help the overall ambiance. I like feeling like I am in my own little world, away from the outside when I am at a park. Had a great experience at BGT this summer, and the theming and plant life (granted, it is Florida) had a lot to do with that. --Action Zone-- I'd like to see Action Zone get an actual theme, instead of this melting pot type of vibe you get there now. With some re-themes and painting of rides like Delirium and Drop Tower, and some trees added, it would be a great area for some sort of spooky theme. With rides like Banshee and Bat already, it would make the most sense of the theme to go with. If this happens, I like the idea of an Adventure Express re-theme so that it could be absorbed into the new Spooky themed area. --Soak City-- It is rare that I find myself in SC these days. I preferred The Beach because of the large crowds at the waterpark at KI. Having said that, some more shade, and more attractions would be nice. I'd like to see a watercoaster and another slide complex added. Maybe replace some of the old/original slides for slides that are better at line chewing. I live a couple hours away from the park, so if I'm feeling like waterparking it these days, I go to Holiday World who has really built up a world class waterpark. I'm sure there are others on my mind, but this post looks to be long enough for now!
  23. I like King Cobra for a Defunct Land video. Would be cool to see what kind of footage they would find for it. Really any of the rides from the old Adventure Village would be fun, not to just see the attractions, but also some old photos and video of that area in general as it was one of my favorite areas of the park when I was a kid. The Animal Safari monorail ride could be interesting, especially given its history and the fact that the vehicles still exist at Jungle Jim's. Screamin' Demon was my first inversion, and it had a good life at Camden Park after it left KI so it would be fun for me to see a video on that as well. I think another good choice would be Phantom Theater.
  24. I think its hard to beat the Orlando area with the Disney and Universal Parks, plus with Sea World and the Fun Spots there and Busch Gardens an hour and a half down the road, there is really a lot to do there. If there are young kids, Legoland is pretty cool and not far away. Especially if you factor in all of the great waterparks around the area, its a good place to be in. As for regional park areas, I live near Indianapolis and am within a couple hours of KI, Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World. Indiana Beach about an hour away. Cedar Point about 4 and a half hour drive and Six Flags St. Luis about 4 hrs, Six Flags Great America about 3 and a half. Pretty centrally located to some good parks.
