  1. If I had children, I would probably take them to PKI over CP. PKI just has so much more to do for the kids than CP.
  2. Hey fryler, I didn't know that Intamin had full circuit inverts. Oh wait, don't they only have the one, the Volcano Blast Coaster at PKD? Or, are there more?
  3. Whhhhuuu? Can't make heads or tails of your post. Maybe you could explain for those of us that don't work there?
  4. B&M loses out on hypers due to the cost. B&M's are some of the most expensive coasters in the industry. Obviously, when Intamin gave SF a cheaper price tag, they could afford to install more of them as opposed to just a couple of B&M's. I think everyone would agree that Bolliger and Mabillard are great designers (and make great coasters), but I haven't noticed anything truly spectacular that justifies their higher prices (except maybe the inverts).
  5. The screamscape ultimate awards are in. Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle took the award for Ultimate Dark Ride Attraction. They also came close in several other categories including Best Wooden Coaster. Here's a link to the results...Screamscape Ultimate Awards
  6. Yeah, I was a little confused about that fryler. Anyway, I don't think B&M will be missing out on any business either. I'm not really aware that any parks are interested in gigacoasters or I would think that others would have been built by now. Not everyone is going for the world record. B&M is comfortable designing a coaster that will use a launch, but for some reason, they won't build it themselves. Not sure what the issue behind it is, seeing how there are several successful and reliable launched coasters out there. I could see where they wouldn't want to fool with hydraulic launches, but otherwise, every other launch is proven to be reliable. And, reliability is the major concern for B&M. They want reliability and excitement factors to be their main selling points along with the smoothness. My only problem is, inverts have kind of hit a wall. There are no new elements being created for them, so the only thing left is an original layout.
  7. It is stilll there. It is listed as SBNO on rcdb (Standing but not operating). Here's a link to the (now called) Thunderbolt Express...Demon My question is, when it was moved to Camden Park, was it rebuilt as tall as the Screamin' Demon? It seems smaller to me now. It could be that it just seemed taller since I was smaller.
  8. No, B&M has made zero launch coasters. The launch was done by another company. B&M was not comfortable doing the launch. I can't seem to find whom did it, but it was definitely not B&M. Probably Premier built it. Found it. Here's a link to an article concerning the launch. Hulk It was actually Universal that designed the launch.
  9. The fact that money talks has nothing to do with B&M not building a launch. Obviously, the money was there when the Hulk was built. B&M just are not interested in building coasters with a launch or over the 300 ft. mark.
  10. I have also read that S&S Power has a design in the works that will go higher than TTD. If you look at the stats for Hypersonic, it actually launches quicker than Dragster. Maybe S&S is the one that is building it for SFGA. I agree with Aaron that they need to concentrate on maintaining what they have.
  11. It seems like two years ago, when I went to CP, it was around August that footers were placed for TTD. I could be wrong. And, if the clearing over by FOF and SOB is any indication, then the land prep is already done. But, I could be way off in left field on this one.
  12. My opinion of CP is now even better than before and I didn't even receive the perks. Now that is going way above and beyond normal service and customer satisfaction.
  13. Unless it would be a new wooden coaster, construction would not have to be started yet. About the only thing they would need to do now would be footers. Steel coasters go up pretty fast. So, don't count out the coaster yet.
  14. Q: Do you think ______ coaster is rough? A: Matter of opinion.
  15. The seats on the far end were being used when I was there, but that was back in June. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just never noticed a huge difference in the arms. But, that is probably because I wasn't looking too closely. I'll try to look at them when I go again in another month or so.
  16. They also really need a place for people to stay on premises. I'd like to see a full service restaurant.
  17. I am with you on this one Tanner. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences at CP.
  18. How can you tell from looking at the arms whether or not one weighs more than the other? I looked at them and they looked the same to me. But, I didn't pay real close attention, so it could be that. I've only heard that the arms operate separately and heard nothing about one weighing more than the other. Not to say that I am correct.
  19. I'd hang out in the ladies' room on the leather furniture.
  20. You're probably right, but they could still ask. Cp's are not older and they managed to. And, I wasn't 30 something the entire time I've gone there.
  21. Maybe it's called the gondola? Don't really know for sure.
  22. The shifting really doesn't have to do with the speed. I don't get a lot of shifting back and forth from rides like Mean Streak at Cedar Point. Granted, it doesn't go as fast, but it doesn't have to be that way. Look at B&M's inverts compared to Vekoma. B&Ms hug the track whereas Vekomas generally have a slamming effect. This is why they call full circuit Vekomas hang and bangs.
  23. Not that I don't believe you Tanner, but where is this? I am really curious. I have never noticed it before. I'm not always observant.
  24. I've never considered The Racers rough. You must have caught a ride on it on a bad day. Coasters do go through these kinds of things. I would agree that you should let Guest Relations know. They might just take it with a grain of salt at first, but if enough people complain, I'm sure they will look into it.
  25. Good point Tanner. You really shouldn't base an entire trip to an amusement park for one attraction. The only people I really feel for is those that have to come from a further distance than me or can only afford to attend once a year. So, my guess is, there is no sign at PKI's gate letting you know what's closed?
