  1. This was tweeted last night https://twitter.com/KICentral/status/765351534049779712. Looks like we will start to see it go vertical soon.
  2. More of that the first drop slams you into your seat, instead of a smooth transition out of the first drop it probably isn't super noticeable but he is super picky about stuff like that. I believe he said it is something he only experienced it the even rows, and was forgivable because the rest of the ride he thought was fantastic.
  3. I personally took a trip down in early June after the school and was let down with not being able to ride it because it was down all day, I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado and Wild Eagle, walk on pretty much all day. My biggest gripe with this whole situation is how poorly Dollywood handled it from a PR perspective, the thing officially opened in June when they were hyping it up for March, they had to have known that it wouldn't be open, then closing it and keeping the same banner for the whole month after it closed again, saying that it would be "subject to down time and delays". As for its reliability being "open" for 5 days of the 5 months the park has been open is not a reliable coaster, not to mention one train operations and constant delays. From what my friend mentioned is that it is an amazing ride that is kind of rough in even seats and has a pot hole at the bottom of the first drop, looks to be amazing but I don't have the time or money to try to get back down this year. So my Dollywood 2016 trip was a lot of fun,but it did leave me with a bad taste in my mouth from being dissapointed that I couldn't ride it 2 months after it was supposed to open.
  4. If you think about it the next time you would expect large scale expansion would be with the addition of a coaster or a large flat package. The next time I could see that happening is around the early 2020's so it wouldn't be far off from the time for future expansion. One thing that needs to happen is the renovation of those dinosaurs if they plan on keeping DA open for 4 more years, I don't think you can sell dinosaurs that have metal ribs showing. As for The Racer ever getting touched by a company, I think that certainly would go to GCI to keep the classic layout and overall feel of the coaster that saved roller coasters.
  5. I was already thinking it would be a Verbolten-esque show room. The way they said it will be a different ride every time you ride it, led me to believe it would have different "stories" kind of how Verbolten is. I think this is more likely after what ML said, it would be easier to keep that a secret then other options and makes the most sense to me.
  6. I believe the POV's from 1979 are from test runs, which will run slower because of the weight of the trains and not being broken in yet. I never rode it until after the changes to the helix, but I imagine it is as or more intense today then it was in 1979. The problem people have with the trims is that they are noticeable if it was a less drastic change in speed then I think people would stop complaining about it.
  7. It all depends on the kind of airtime you like. Diamondback and the B&M's all focus on floater airtime while the other models usually focus on Ejector airtime. Instead of prolonged sensation of flying out of your seat you are physically thrown out of it. I imagine 90% of the airtime on Mystic Timbers will be this way, except those restraints are much more comfortable IMO.
  8. My personal vote is the Mai Tai pronunciation, but if this did have an inversion then it would probably be called Son of Beast, by the GP.
  9. That ride also opened up for 1 week before it was shut down and never opened back up again, it has been 4 months since it was supposed to open and it ran for 1 week. Also some stakes were spotted in DA, is it possible that those could be for the 2nd announcement?
  10. I think a lot of people will be surprised with the amount of airtime this will pack, the hills may not be large but will probably pack a nice punch. As for why Banshee's animation looked better is because B&M pays for a specific program to be used which makes them look a little better.
  11. I feel like a Vervbolten style show room is much more likely then VR. VR really can hurt capacity, which is not like a people eater B&M already. Iron Dragon is the only one I have seen VR be fine on and it is run in specific hours and reservation style.
  12. Don has said that Racer is one coaster in this tweet. https://twitter.com/DonHelbig/status/759190940422668288
  13. Surf dog is counted as a coaster. Cedar Point also counts Pipescream, so it helps boost the parks numbers.
  14. Great pictures! Looks like construction should start soon with all the materials being prepped.
  15. Also park do want people to have their hands up, but give warnings to make them not liable for injuries if there are any. I have had numerous close calls on The Beast and I'm not even that tall, but I just put my hands down in tunnels but they go right back up after.
  16. Funny because this is not the decoding thread for what is in the shed. It is the decoding thread for the mid August announcement. But I guess its true, Ignorance is bliss. Edit: Also Ouimet has said the Kings parks won't get any gate coasters.
  17. I didn't mean it as like a angry post or anything, but a lot of people seriously just say "take off the trims" and think that will be okay. I guess it is just after hearing it a lot for the past few years I got to the point where I explain it every time it is mentioned, even to my own family. But I think the announcement will be a flat of some sort, I feel a dark ride would have been finalized already, but that is just me.
  18. It also wasn't anyone from the current management, you are thinking of Mr. Speigel and some of the executives back when it had yet to open. Plus it has been stated multiple times that the trims ARE needed for the ride. It basically boils down to good rides for a month or 2 until the maintenance costs become too high to keep it going. The Beast has something like 95% of the wood being from the original structure.
  19. ^^^^ You can't just remove trim brakes from a ride, it would need a lot of reprofiling. Right now there would be unacceptable forces on the ride and riders without the trim brakes.
  20. Putting newer trains on an old ride is not as simple as putting them on there. The ride could need massive re profiling to accommodate (guessing) lighter trains, which I highly doubt they will do.
  21. Hmm Don has an interesting selection for his profile and cover photo on his twitter there.
  22. It is hard to explain but they are by far the most comfortable wooden restraints I have ever experienced. In my few experiences with them they had pretty loose ratcheting mechanic and the lap bar could move quite a bit. I also pay attention to the lap bar on the first drops because like any coaster it can pin you if the forces get to it.
  23. If we get those awful PTC trains.... I think you misunderstand my concern.. On my screen 2 posts above mine is someone asking if the supports were steel.
  24. I can confirm that Millennium Flyer lap bars automatically lower.
  25. Oh that is a steal, I would probably give those as joke gifts to some of my enthusiast friends.
