  1. I honestly expect this to be a "transition" coaster over a "high thrill" one. It has been a long time since the park got a coaster that was made with younger kids in mind, I expect this to be something that is the stepping stone up to the likes of DB,Banshee and Beast. I'm expecting something in the 80-100 ft range that will provide people with some airtime and banked turns, but not the same high intensity of a Beast.
  2. Welcome to KIC! It could be another reference to that.
  3. No someone said that they thought it was RMC because of the lack of lateral supports, so I pulled up a GCI that used steel supports to help cut down on lateral supports as well. That is White Lightning at Funspot.
  4. I feel like Kings Island will get a completely unique name, Timberwolf is already being used at WOF. I am not completely sure on stats, it really depends on what audience they are targeting.
  5. As we come closer to the announcement I must say a huge thank you to everyone who posted pictures, I have only been able to get to the park a few times this year and I was thoroughly kept in the loop because of your hard work. As long as a ride is fun then I do not have a problem with any chosen manufacturer, they all succeed in making rides that bring joy into peoples lives. Can't wait until we get the official announcement as I'm sure it will be fantastic.
  6. I raise you this, White Lightning a GCI made with steel supports to reduce the need for lateral supports.......also notice the shape of the turn around. (Image from Coasterbuzz.com) I also agree, thank you for actually giving reason to why you are leaning a certain way about a manufacturer. I have seen way to many people who reply to every tweet with the hashtag with just "RMC2017".
  7. Sounds like construction is ready to start once this coaster is announced. I wonder truly if a coaster will be the only thing announced Thursday, with no one else really teasing another ride (that I can recall) this could possibly be quite a revamp of the area. BUT It could still be fairly small amount of money in the grand scheme of things considering I have heard that there will be a few hotel renovations in the chain and those add up quickly.
  8. I did actually, I also made the joke that GCI would build the structure and RMC would iron horse it before opening.
  9. I did not mean it in the fact that they are unreliable as a manufacturer but have had more problems then GCI, which I understand does not have a launched coaster yet. I just threw out some reasons that could possibly sway a park to pick other manufacturers.
  10. Cost, Reliability, Past relations with GCI? CF may want to test RMC with a conversion before diving straight in with a new ride.
  11. I don't know if GCI has any coasters with inversions yet, but they have mentioned that the trains are capable of it. Edit: In case people think GCI can't do intense coasters then just take a look at Mountain Flyer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG_WdFTcSHI (posted by Great Coasters official channel)
  12. According to Coasternet it has been confirmed a GCI because of a source close to the company, and they are fairly reputable so in my mind it comes down to statistics and elements at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a smaller coaster, because of the time from Banshee and previous installations, but I could also see this as a larger coaster somewhat like Prowler. I am just happy for another wood coaster, it has been a while since Ohio has seen a new wood coaster. Here is the tweet claiming it to be confirmed GCI: https://twitter.com/COASTERnet/status/756831736957370369
  13. Well that is good for us who unfortunately can't make it, although the time is off. Edit: Time is correct now.
  14. I find this tweet https://twitter.com/COASTERnet/status/756831736957370369 interesting. If this is true then hopefully the RMC brigade doesn't get to dissapointed.
  15. Even if this is a $8-10 million dollar investment I think KI gets their next big coaster in 2022.
  16. ^^^ I liked SOB, but I feel like it would bring back to many bad memories for the casual customer. I feel like they don't really want people to be confused and the loop was the signature of SOB.
  17. I think the only element I'm ready to eliminate might be a vertical loop, considering it would probably bring back to many bad memories.
  18. With how tall and fast you guys are predicting, I think quite a few people will be dissapointed. I can't see them fitting anything close to a hyper woodie in that space, and the plans do not have enough supports for anything that large. I think the tallest this thing goes is 140ft, but it is more likely to be 100-120 and even that is tall for a real wooden coaster. As for speed, I can't see it going faster then 65mph and that is still flying for a woodie. And last but not least the hype, KI has no wooden coasters built in the 2000's still operating OF COURSE it is going to be hyped up. I'm not ruling out RMC or GG, but I think people are projecting what they want over what is realistic.
  19. We have no way to confirm the manufacturer and if we are going solely based on the layout then it would appear to be GCI. So no it isn't confirmed to have anything yet, except trains and tracks.
  20. Don has been known to visit and considering there were some tweets directed specifically at KICentral on twitter, I'm going to say yes.
  21. Welcome to KIC! Also I'm thinking a Prowler like drop followed by a White Lightning like layout. I'm gonna guess it will be in the 3000-3500 ft range and will be a fantastic ride that fly's through the woods.
  22. I think my biggest problem with Intamin is that there is apparently "an acceptable number of casualties", which IMO is the worst thing you can say. They may be extremely innovative and intense rides, but I would take a B&M every time over Intamin if I'm running a park. Now back on topic, even if we know everything about this ride a few days before it is announced I think KI has done an exceptional job teasing this project. The hints were well thought out and nothing that gave it away, considering we are still questioning a lot of things about it.
  23. I mean it is possible, but Sasquatch doesn't fit the Rivertown theme IMO, obviously I have no idea what the park is going to name it or if they will stick to the area theme.
  24. Honestly I think Rougarou would have been perfect for this project, as for other themes we obviously have some possible animal/creature names, wood/lumberjack. I can't really find anything too "western" that would match the hints.
