I Tried French quarter again. Pro - asked for lettuce on the Sammy and they delivered. Con- as bad as the undercooked potato side was, the “Italian slaw” was inedible. I like vinegar based slaw… but this was white cabbage in Italian dressing. Hard pass. Guess I’ll try the pasta salad next time. Bring back the potato straws. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I really enjoy French quarter when I’m looking for something lighter. Although the potatoes were not cooked enough and were still a little crunchy, so I’ll probably try a different side next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The bread sticks at I-street larosa were a risky different kind. They had “spices” in them which left an aftertaste. Note: there were still 2 included even though only 1 is pictured. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They were shorter… not half.. and fatter. I thought they were the same total volume… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk We got la Rosa in the fest haus. I didn’t notice a smell. The floors are all completely redone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Some folks above mentioned the new fries at coney and the sushi/empanada option at brew house (not clear if that’s on dining plan). Both are called out in todays food blog. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2022/april/kings-island-foodie-news-first-tier-of-new-food-for-2022-rolled-out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Opening Day Tips and Tricks . . what are your plans?
chuck norris replied to rlentless's topic in Kings Island
This morning they just stopped trying to scan and let people in by just showing your card. All the dining places still worked even though we hadn’t officially scanned in. The two times we got in line for food (fest haus la Rosa and hanks burrito shack) the POS terminals went offline and we just had to wait for them to come back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Which parks do you plan to visit in 2022?
chuck norris replied to Bansheelover's topic in Kings Island
We started a six flags membership last summer. So I’m addition to Kings Island (gold pass) we’ll be focusing on six flags parks this summer. Last summer we did a road trip of six flags eastern coast: America, Great adventure, New England, Darian lake, & great escape. This year (since it’s “good” for 12 months since we purchased it) we already hit over Georgia and plan to also get to: Over Texas Fiesta Frontier city St. Louis Great America & possibly Magic Mountain Next year we’ll either go back to platinum Cedar Fair (although Cedar Point has been pretty bad since they added the gold pass for there) or try Busch gardens/sea World passes. A massive collection of utility trucks was staged today in the south end of the Kings Island parking lot. Looks like at least 50+ trucks were there by this evening (with the portable parking lot lights on them) when I drove past around 9pm. Presumably preparing for the ice/snow storms that are forecast to hit the area tonight. Glad to see KI supporting the community with the space. Hopefully this effort proves unnecessary. Tonight was packed. As expected, when the weather is better, the park gets busier. Based on tonight, and the fact that the park is open extended hours through midnight tomorrow… I’d expect tomorrow to be full. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Finally made it to chicken shack for winterfest. Very good. Got the smoked wings, which included fries and toast (during the season the meal didn’t include the toast unless you got salad). Yes, I ate some toast prior to photo Special honey mint garlic sauce, which tasted mostly like honey… didn’t taste mint nor garlic, but the honey glaze was tasty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think he was asking “did The Racer lose their ace status when they retracked it this summer”. Although it’s not a relevant question since The Racer didn’t change its layout or angles. They just replaced old wood for new. As previously mentioned, The Beast is an ace landmark as a historic addition to coaster history. None of that changes with this retrack… especially as it will continue to be as long, tall, and fast as it was when it was originally given the ACE designation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There’s a video news story in the included link. In that story they talk about how these kids visit the park regularly, and include some footage of them in the park on previous visits (from their own cell phones). One of those videos is of them on The Racer, filming themselves. In the case of on ride filming (which wasn’t what ban was supposedly based on), this isn’t just an accusation… it’s a self incriminating video they shared with the news reporter. Bread bowls on the dining plan [emoji7] I got there right after opening. The photo of the Turkey pot pie bowl was the first one I was served. The bread was hard as a rock, literally I could not bite the lid. Fortunately I said something to the staff, and they apologized and immediately remade it with fresh bread. Final product (which I didn’t think to photograph) was great. Net: if you get there close to opening on a day that was open the night before, (Ie next week Monday-Friday)… be sure to check that you’re not served day old; pre cut bowls. So we went to winterfest last night just for dinner and walking around a bit. Left by 7:00. As we left, my kids noticed 3 different pocket knives near the base of some bushes. Not all together, and it wasn’t like they were walking in the landscaping pulling back branches. This was as we walked out of the park we could clearly see these knives just sitting there. Although there typically aren’t issues with winterfest… knowing the history this season of teenage fights; I picked up the knives and brought them back to security to deal with (they locked them up on the lockers… so hopefully the owners could describe them and get them back???) I believe if you do have a weapon, security will allow you to turn it over to them, they lock it in a locker, and then give you a “valet ticket” of sorts to get it when you leave. Should the PA announcement as you enter better explain this process? Currently it just says “weapons are not allowed, please return them to your vehicle”… and apparently people are too lazy or just don’t value their knife enough to justify the 5 minute walk back to their car at that point. Or should security sweep the nearby landscaping with a metal detector throughout the night to locate dropped weapons (and maybe add some small signs by common hiding places telling people to not leave items in the bushes)? Or am I an over paranoid parent who should have just left 3 knives in plain site along the path? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They are indeed repaving right now. A section near the entry gate (sort of as you drive to preferred parking) is now completed. Repaved and new yellow lines painted. The parking section signs (Ie row numbers) were still removed when I went last night, but surely they will be reinstalled when the project is done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How about some updates on winterfest dining plan options? (But in this topic vs a new food one) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve been on over 200 different coasters, and visit KI as my home weekly. Invertigo in the only coaster I will only ride once a season. It’s just not enjoyable at all for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found it. Looks like they are celebrating the large population of Arab Americans in the US; (technically Dearborn, MI… but that’s close). Has anyone seen an announcement for today’s game day plate? They are playing the lions… maybe Detroit style pizza? Or wild game (lion??). [emoji2375] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Other than weather, I haven’t seen Orion down at all this year. I’ve got about 50 visits to the park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I noticed in chefs Twitter he makes reference to looking for a golden ticket for food. While I LOVE the chef plate, it doesn’t have a mass appeal for most guests. I really think if they allowed you to use a meal on a snack instead (ice cream, funnel cake, etc) that would be the kind of improvement that the masses would respond to.
