HH definite separate charge in '08

I searched other threads, but hope this hasn't already been posted...

I was reading the 2008 Season Pass FAQ section on PKI.com and it states very clearly that next year HH will definitely be a separate charge. I believe it even says that the free parking will not be available during it, as well.

I know it has been said on here that it was expected to be an up-charge, but I hadn't read anything definitive. Again, I hope this isn't a re-post.

As a passholder, I don't have a problem with that. I'm a MAXX Pass holder this year, and will be a Platinum Pass holder next year... Had they decided to charge THIS year, I would have pitched a fit. The impression was certainly given that it would be included with '07 passes. But it's clearly being stated that it's NOT included with '08 passes... so I'm purchasing my '08 pass knowing that if I want to go to KI at the end of the '08 season, I'll have to pay extra. No problem. (I do think paid parking is a little ridiculous -- that experience is exactly the same as it's been all year lol -- but whateva.)

Right move by CF in my book. (And I'm def not agreeing with many of their moves these days, LOL.) I'm glad they went with reason and positive PR over $$$ for once.

Well, if I had to guess, I`d say that the park would be open on Saturdays from either 10am or noon until about 5pm for pass holders and general admission. They would then clear the park, and let any paying customer, be it general admission or season pass holder into the park for Halloween Haunt.

However, the park might not yet know the specifics of how things will work next October yet, beyond the fact that they intend to charge everyone for the event.

So basiclly the end of August will be the last free days for park operations next year?

Maybe, maybe not. I'm willing to guess that they'll have it open to passholders from 10 to 5 and then close it from 5-7 and reopen as an upcharge for HH. Then again, you'll just have to wait until the park announces how they're going to handle it.

No, The park will still be open on Saturday's and Sunday's in October next fall. However when HH starts it'll be a separate fee. So season pass holders can enjoy the park on Saturdays and Sundays. The will probably have the park open from like 10am till 5pm on Saturday's, and then close and reopen for HH. (This is for next year).

That seems dumb to me to open and then close the park again. Why just not force the people going to fearfest have a wrist band or something alond those lines. I wonder if they close the park if you can stay in the parking lot to avoid having to pay for parking. I guess these are all issues that the uper mangament will have to deciede in the coming months.

^ I wouldn't go that far. I don't think they're "pushing" people away, but I do think that most people are used to it being included in admission and with their season pass. I hope its hugely successful both this year and next year, and every year after that. I just know I probably won't pay extra next year to go to it. Hopefully I'm in a tiny minority.

it will go down the drain just like winterfest

I'm afraid I agree with you.

they are just pushing people away

i think i am going to cry :(

Woah, people are acting like its armegedon. Many, many, many parks do not include Halloween attractions in SP admission. Universal, Knotts, Disney, Carowinds, BGA, etc. all have seperate times/admission for the haunted attractions and other parks (like SFGAm) have normal admission for normal rides and add on fees for the haunted houses. KI and CP are actually in the minority with providing Halloween for free.

However, I do hope that they go with the wristband idea, it makes the most sense. Simply station ride ops at entrances and have them check for them after a certain time. Then if need be at a certain time (like 1 hour after normal close) have security start escorting people still on the midway with out a bracelet. That way the park is open as long as possible, there is no complicated, unneeded and annoying 2 hour close for day visitors on Saturday.

I have mixed feelings about the upcharge. On the one hand, it will reduce the insane crowding and horrible lines that have plagued Fearfest in the past. On the other hand, I feel like I'm getting ripped off for essentially having to pay park admittance twice. Hopefully the HH '08 pricing will be reasonable. If it is anything over $20 I just won't go. How much are tickets this year?

^ I guess I'm confused on how you are getting ripped off.

You paid a flat rate to enjoy the park as many times as you wish, and that rate is actually paid off in 3 visits. HH is a special event that includes attractions that are not at the park all summer. And you think that you should not have to pay an extra fee?

When you buy a car, do you expect the car with the standard 3.0 engine and the 2.7 twin turbo to be the same price?

Of course not. One is normal, one is special.

it will go down the drain just like winterfest

Wow.

We don't even know of how HH will go this year, but from all the early reports it is going to be a huge hit. And you are already comparing it to Winterfest?

How is that even possible?

There were many TR the last few years, after Paramount stopped making FF an upcharge event, that there were too many people in the park and that you could not enjoy all the haunts in one night and it wasn't worth the money that was paid.

Then this year the rumor that HH will be an upcharge event, and that pi$$ed everyone off because they were not notified when they purchased their pass. But it turned out to be just a rumor and HH is still free this year.

Now the park has already told everyone that HH in '08 will be an upcharge, and people are still pi$$ed.

Can't some people ever be satisfied?

I for one an actually glad that the Halloween Haunt will be paid for next year. I am also fall in the bracket I am stilling living at home and making pretty decent money and really don't need to worry about if 20 or 30 will break the bank on not.

I think tehy should have the rides open to everyone and the Hautned Areas are only for people with a wrist band.

I worked Fearfest when they had the whole wrist band thing. It was hell!!! There were more guest complaints this year, and it cause more people to want to jump in the lines. To control the amount of people yes it is a good idea, but overall I think the park should have learned its lesson about not doing the wrist bands.
