Hannah Montana: Miley Cyrus Grounded By Disney?

Recommended Posts

Her parents approved it?

As a parent, if someone even suggested to take a picture like that of my 15 year old daughter, they would be picking themselves off of the floor.

Talk about a promotion of child-porn.

Disney made the right call. I'm sure they will not cut ties with the Cyrus family, but things really do need to calm down a bit.

So what we do know is that 2 outside Disney media groups say that Disney confirms she is out for the weekend event because of a role model conflict, puts on Disney’s own site she is in fact doing the weekend event and shows her taking pictures and signing autographs with young children with-in the confines of Magic Kingdom. Talking about conflicting reports.

Woofer – I somewhat agree with you. I saw the pictures a few days ago and I thought with all the fuss, they would be far worse, but after seeing them I thought “all this for that!. I mean I can see the gray area here in the photos but just everyday photos show more than that. The grey area for me was the towel one I just said to myself when I saw them was “Why/ what’s the purpose for taking one like that”

People were making it out like she was doing nude photos.

Now right or wrong that she was in a spread in Vanity Fair, I don't think you can hardly call them pornographic.

It's nothing different than Vanity Fair has done before.

Remember all the Demi Moore spreads.

Now I'm certainly no Hanna Montana/Molly Cyrus fan. <G> I believe she has ever bit of talent that her father has. <G>

But cut the kid a break.

It's not like she has gotten knocked up (ie Zoey) or goes out and parties all night long.

Except, except, except...

Both her agent and her parents should have taken into account three things:

a. respect for their daughter/client.

b. her current target audience's reactions (especially the pre-teen girls' parents...)

c. her employer's very predictable reaction.

Why do girl stars this age seem to almost always want to change audiences when they are minting money? See: Ms. Spears, Ms. Shields, Ms. Aguilera, etc... (We certainly can't say that about Paris Hilton!)

Agreed. They probably want to let things die down a bit so they don't push her into rebelling as teenagers often do. I would also think that Disney doesn't want Miley to turn into another Britney Spears and keep her wholesome image.

Being the lack of talent and singing skills, I'd venture to say that her career will be over before any of the wholesome image is gone.

The first time that I'd actually seen her perform was on "Idol Gives Back." I was really wanting to see the judges critique her performance.

I am in no way a Miley Cyrus fan, I think she's very lacking in the talent dept. However, "Hannah Montana" is one of the VERY few wholesome characters that little girls have to look up to today. The pictures of Miley were obviously an example of poor judgement on many levels. I hope for her sake, and the sake of little girls everywhere that future endeavors will utilize more foresight into possible reprocussions.

Actors and celebrities, more often than not, use the argument that the "Characters I play have nothing to do with who I am as a person." But I disagree. I think whatever you put out into the world is ultimately a reflection that affects you and your fan base.

I recently found it hysterical when I saw an interview with Madonna where she lamented the fact that her 13 year-old daughter is trying to dress and act too provocatively for her age. As an adult, I have always enjoyed Madonna as an artist. But I found it terribly ironic that she refuses to let her daughter watch TV or read magazines, wear suggestive clothing or curse... all due to the effect they have on her mind and maturity. I mean, here was the absolute queen of sexual boundry-pushing controversy saying that she holds her daughter with very tight reigns.

But she made a great point in that interview when confronted. She said that it was her job as a parent to teach her daughter right and wrong, and ultimately protect her children from images that could affect the decisions they make during their childhood. She flat out said that the images and ideas she had put out were in no way intended for a child. In terms of her own kids she said that once they turned 18, they could then make their own decisions, but until then it was her job to guide and shelter them.

Hollywood and media has turned into the great abiss. No longer is our entertainment talent based, it's spectacle and controversy based. And quite frankly, I think the general public is sick of being treated like morons... hence the popularity of wholesome shows such as Hannah Montanna, Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

I am not a parent, and am an EXTREMELY open minded individual. However, when and if I have a child they too would be protected from what I feel are harmful and overtly unnecessary images on TV, in movies and online. There would be reprocussions for acting or dressing in certain ways. I would want their childhood to be filled with their own thoughts and ideas rather than what popular culture tells them. That's the job and responsibility one assumes when they have a child.

In Miley's case, Disney is obviously pulling in the reigns for PR purposes as to avoid a backlash against their cash-cow juggerknot. Her Management is trying to milk Miley's career and "mature" it with her ever-aging teen base.

But in all of this, Miley is still a little girl. I am most dissapointed with her parents. I hope that someone is there to hold her up, guide her in what's best for her own character development as a young woman and show her accountability. I hope for her sake that she is not the next Britney, or Paris or Lindsay.

With so many conflicting stories floating around it’s a wonder anyone can figure out what the real story is. In Peoples magazine they are also doing some reporting of this matter.

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20197494,00.html

from the artical

Also, in light of the recent Vanity Fair photo flap, a Disney Channel source adds: "She was invited to the media party but understandably, is not attending on the advice of her management team.

"She is just 15 and worried and upset over everything related to the photos of her," the source adds. "Her parents are upset and her entire family is affected too. I just can't imagine anyone reasonably expecting her team to then put her in the middle of what would be a media feeding frenzy."

Also the Walt Disney World News is still telling the same news as last night, which she is indeed performing tomorrow night.

Also for those who are interested to see some of the behind the scenes of the Vanity Fair photo shoot watch the video below.

Now I am a little disappointed too but mostly think this story is way over blown, I think she got it before we all learned about it.

Yes, Vanity Fair has done spreads like this before, nothing new to them.

BUT, Demi was not 15.

If Miley was 18, more power to her to do anything she wants.
