For all you old school PKICers who remember me, I'm back! Haha. Either way, you are probably thinking to yourself right now, why am I reading this? Well let me give you some background on myself and my situation. Yes I did come up with PKIC back in 2003 and no I haven't been around or contributing to the site and a long time. All the success deserves to go to Dane and Ryan, also a lot of other people who help make this site keep growing, but mainly Dane since he actually MADE the site. So now you know a little about the beginning of PKIC, now KIC, but that was five years ago!

A month after I turned 15 I accepted a position as an associate in the food department at Kings Island. PKIC was just a baby and only a few months old. Now I moved up the ladder very quickly at KI becoming a head supervisor at the age of 18. By this time I had severed almost all ties with the C, only to become a lurker. Last season I returned to KI as a head supervisor (now named assistant supervisor under Cedar Fair ) at the Wings Diner Buffet where the previous year I had helped convert it to a buffet as the head supervisor. During the post season my boss of five seasons decided to leave his job and take a position down at the new Hard Rock park. Now this is where things get interesting. My new boss was okay, I had no feelings for or against her, but little did I know she had something cooking up for me.

This brings us to the day of June 18, 2007. It was a normal summer day, but I'll turn this extremely long story short. Like in years past My counterparts and I decided to do some sprucing up of our stand. We refreshened our two-wheelers by painting them black and putting our stand name and number on them. One of my assistants and I painted a picnic table outside our service area that we were using as a break table as the result of new Cedar Fair changes. A gas pump decoration left outside in our service area that had been taken out do to the conversion of the buffet and told to me to be thrown out by my previous boss was on the list of sprucing up. However I didn't get to finish the job. Also, I with a spray paint can which I received from the paint shop at Kings Island, tried to paint over obscenities on an awning in our service area. I thought I would get praise and admiration...Dead wrong. Again, long story short. Myself and only one other counterpart were fired that evening. BANNED from the park for one year and were told we would be facing charges in court for vandalism. A little shocking? Tell me about it...

So here we are now, a full year later. One court case has already been resolved with no harm done. Mine on the other hand, not so much. A YEAR LATER and I'm facing vandalism charges with Kings Island claiming damages of more than $2000. A little shocking? Tell me about it...

But it is a year later, and I am now legally available to go to the place that I once loved, maybe still do a little...don't know why though. But if you took the time to read all this then you might as well come join me at the park. It will be a wonderful day indeed and guaranteed to entertain. Come kick it with a cool guy, his old work buddies, and a great park no matter who owns it. No one can steal the Kings Island spirit and no one can steal mine. So if you're at the park tomorrow, hit me up on my cell phone...513.484.8392...text, call whatever you'd like. I will be buying everyone in our group free lunch around late afternoon.

And just to show you that I'm no disgruntled ex-employee; the week before I was fired, I worked a total of 93 hours in that ONE week. Yes I was dedicated and as much as it hurts me to say it, KI held a special place in my heart.

So let's have some fun even if you're a stranger, I promise I won't bite. 513.484.8392

Dane, Ryan, Bill...one of you better be there! Show your boy some love! Haha

Sorry to hear about your treatment. Thanks for the site, it's an invaluable tool for me. It's too bad you didn't go today, I would have hung out with you. I definitely plan on going much more this season so maybe we can work something out, you sound like someone I could talk to for a while and glean some nifty nuggets from. Welcome back to the forums, and I don't bite either.

Wow. First, thank you for thinking of this site!

Second, that really sucks about the cases. It's like you were doing something good because you just loved the place but you end up getting kicked in the teeth. I'm sorry. So when is this trial?

Wow man, long time no hear. Last time I saw you, we were having a *cough* interesting time at Beast.

And of course you pick the day I move to Wisconsin as the day to meet people at the park. I already spent my last day at the park till September today.

So as founder, are you an instant staff member here? Haha.

Thanks for all the replies.

So when is this trial?

The trial is set for August 12, which is one day after my birthday...lucky me.

Are you talking about this area?

Yes and you can see the gas pump I was talking about. It was just a decoration, there was no use to it, but if you look at the top you can see the tank was accumulating moisture inside. This is because we moved the pump out there in the first place to be out of the public's view. I asked my boss what we were doing with it or who I should call to take it and he told me to just through it out. Well the problem was it wouldn't fit in the dumpster, so it sat there outside exposed to the elements from April to at least June. And if you look closely you can see all the imperfections with the paint, hence why I wanted to paint it.

Wow man, long time no hear.

I know, it's been a long time. Last I remember you were at DAAP. Did you graduate? Is that why you're on your way to Wisconsin? But we'll get together in September for sure.

Wow... I had no idea about the story that you just told. How was everything resolved? Did you get out of it?

Well I had to get a lawyer for the first time. But we will see what happens in the trial, both my lawyer and I are pretty confident. As said before, "the truth will set you free." I'm just happy to go back to KI and see some old friends. Last time I was at the park I was escorted out, didn't get to say any goodbyes, which was not the way I envisioned ending my employment at Kings Island.

Man, that really sucks.

If it does get to court, I certainly hope that you're awarded court costs.

(He has a lawyer...and the lawyer didn't advise him not to discuss the case in public? Mutter, mutter, mutter....)

When Deposed or in Court one of the first questions will be, "Have you discussed this claim with anyone directly or indirectly."

To which he'll answer, "I posted it on the internet."

To which his attorney will do a Homer Simpson... Dooooohhhhh!

Thanks for all the kind replies. It was a fun day indeed.

Come on man, did you really need to add that? You know nothing about my lawyer and what he has advised me to do. I'm not some stupid kid posting everything on the internet. I just have nothing to hide, so why keep it a secret?

I'll be sure to let you guys know if that happens or not...

haha I don't think he was speaking about your lawyer specifically, it's a pretty well known thing that no matter what kind of case the client is always advised not to disclose any details about the case until it has been resolved.

And being I was just deposed on a matter in May, still seems to be a prevalent question.

Who cares about being asked that question? The simple matter is the park reads this website, does so very thoroughly. (Racer vs. Racers, anyone? Closed observation deck perhaps reopen, anyone? Observations about what is going on with the new ride being removed when illegally obtained, anyone?).

In ANY case, it is not wise to discuss a matter in public before litigation. (Why do you think companies have standard comments that they do not discuss matters in litigation?) But it is especially unwise when the other side is listening to your every word.

Lastly, if your lawyer did NOT advise you to not discuss the case in public, s/he is, at best, forgetful, if not worse. If your lawyer did, and you chose to ignore it or discussed it anyway (which you have), you are at best forgetful, if not worse.

Unfortunately, there are some pretty bad attorney's out there.

Was talking to a guy yesterday that was telling me that his attorney would not return his calls but that I always answered my phone. I explained to him that the difference is that I was not to talk to him when represented and he was paying his attorney a lot of money to ignore him.

Yep...yet another thing....when you are represented, the other side is not ALLOWED to discuss the matter with you, but only through/with your attorney. And when you are represented, you have the right to not to discuss the matter except through your attorney, other than in court or depositions, and to have your attorney present during those matters--where s/he can object to questions, ask followup questions to correct any misstatements or vague ones, etc. None of those protections apply to statements about the case made in a public forum, be it church, a restaurant or a message board.

Dan,

Don't pay any attention to "The Interpreter". I've only been on this board a VERY short time, but I've noticed in the many many posts that I've read, The Interpreter is like a big bucket of cold water...he just likes to dump on everyone and whatever they have to say...he's like Professor Doom. Bleh.

Oh, really? And who was it who posted such negative things about The Crypt just now? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=223528 (Post 31)

I think it might have been you. Bleh.

Some people post about things they know a great deal about...some make very quick judgments based on a very small sampling. If you don't like my posts, you don't have to read them. Advising others to ignore them based on your special knowledge of this particular subject area is short sighted at best. I've learned a lot from being here, about people, about parks, about human nature. And, for your edification, I have been one of the management witnesses in literally dozens and dozens of depositions in matters very similar to the one discussed here. On what do you base your advice?
