WOW. Just, WOW.

I'm not gonna talk, I'll just let the pictures tell themselves.

DSC01796.jpg

To get into the coaster spirit, last night we watched National Lampoon's Vacation.

DSC01798.jpg

Chevy Chase, John Candy,

DSC01799.jpg

And Roller Coasters! Despite the hilarity though, I was not put to sleep early.

DSC01800.jpg

By the time the alarm went off, I was laying in bed going "About Time!" I was up since 5:20. Before that, 4:00. Before that, 2:30.

DSC01802.jpg

We got out the door at about 6:20

DSC01804.jpg

Dawn at Kings Island

DSC01806.jpg

I've never gone there that early.

DSC01809.jpg

The parking lot was already crowded, at 6:30!!!!!

DSC01810.jpg

The Eiffel Tower at Dawn

DSC01811.jpg

A good shot of Action Zone

DSC01813.jpg

Time to check in?

DSC01814.jpg

No, we have to wait in line

DSC01815.jpg

Cool view of Invertigo

DSC01817.jpg

Luckilly, I had my iPod Touch with me to entertain me.

DSC01818.jpg

How many people were waiting for the gates to open?

DSC01812.jpg

Well, this was the back of the line as of 6:30. I bet it got bigger by the time they opened.

DSC01819.jpg

Due to the magic of Photo Trip Reports, you have been instantly transported to the front of the line. Enjoy!

DSC01820.jpg

Now we go stand in another line for security.

DSC01821.jpg

This is what the lanyard looked like.

DSC01822-Copy.jpg

The new billboards.

DSC01823.jpg

Jasper, this is for you.

DSC01824.jpg

Then, after security, ANOTHER line to get into the park!

DSC01825.jpg

Finally, we got to the front of the park.

DSC01826.jpg

Now, I know these pictures don't look like it, but it was actually pretty cold.

DSC01827.jpg

Eventually the first riders were escorted to Rivertown Junction.

DSC01828.jpg

Eiffel Tower again.

DSC01829.jpg

Ohh my god.

DSC01830.jpg

After over a year of waiting,

DSC01831.jpg

We're finally here!

DSC01832.jpg

It's only a matter of minutes before I ride it! Right? Wrong. Up next is a wait to sign in.

DSC01833.jpg

The Diamondback Trading Post. Actually it is very cool, lots of decent merchendise

DSC01834.jpg

Hate lines? Just imagine the bliss of this first drop.

DSC01835.jpg

The "Snake Pit" food stand.

DSC01836.jpg

The sign, which is actually looks really good.

DSC01837.jpg

There's actually a decent amount of roundabouts before you even go under the sign!

DSC01839.jpg

Eventualy it started doing test runs.

DSC01838.jpg

The surprise here? The lift. It is super fast. I mean Cable-lift-hill fast. Also, it is super quiet. You can't hear the anti-rollback dogs unless your on the ride.

DSC01840.jpg

The entire Rivertown Area looks rejuvinated and beautiful this season. Where there was a bench and a tree there is a nice piece of landscaping and a decorated lamp, and the grass is green and pretty.

DSC01841.jpg

Let me tell you, I got sooooooooooooooo excited for the ride, Trooper Mom said I was obnoxious how jittery I was.

DSC01842.jpg

We entered Rivertown Junction and were greeted with a group of coaster-hungry-offseason-bit-enthusiasts, along with the occasional member of A Kid Again.

DSC01843.jpg

They asked you what size you were and gave you your shirt.

DSC01844.jpg

Then they gave you your number. Sticker it on there!

DSC01845.jpg

Let's RIDE!

DSC01846.jpg

Yes!

DSC01847.jpg

YESS!!!!!

DSC01849.jpg

NO!!!!!

DSC01850.jpg

Yep, yet another line.

DSC01851.jpg

There I am, at seat 107.

DSC01852.jpg

Eventually they got the line moving.

More in a second.....

DSC01853.jpg

There goes my train.

DSC01854.jpg

Up, Up

DSC01855.jpg

And away!

DSC01856.jpg

I rode in the Back Car of the 4th Train. To my right, Dvo. Behind me, Rex, from www.rexandthebeast.com. To my back right, Violakat!

DSC01858.jpg

As soon as I got off the ride, I screamed "MOM! GIVE ME MY CAMERA!" I felt an urge to take a picture of my new favorite ride. Not just at Kings Island, anywhere!

DSC01859.jpg

How is Diamondback? Absolutely amazing. Pure Coaster Bliss. That explains the "WOW" title of this thread. WOW. Absolutely Amazing. To Gauge it, it kicks the living daylights out of Millennium Force. Just ask Angie, she agrees, and that's saying something coming from Gigacoaster2k!

DSC01860.jpg

Violakat wants the check.

DSC01861.jpg

Angie liked the Complementary Gift Bags.

DSC01862.jpg

The best part of the ride? I don't know. It's all amazing.

DSC01863.jpg

Definitely the best aspect is the airtime. There is Airtime. EVERYWHERE. I was practically stapled and spent half the time out of my seat!

DSC01864.jpg

And the drops. Ohh, my the drops. Each Drop is filled with delicious coaster goodness, your stomach smoothly flying into your chest as you plummet to the Earth.

DSC01866.jpg

The turns. The magnificant smoothness that the ride has gives it a graceful feeling through the ride. But at the same time, it feels out of control and wild like The Beast.

DSC01867.jpg

And then the beautifully put splashdown, creating a wonderful effect that amazes and transfixes future riders into a state perfection and awe.

DSC01869.jpg

True perfection.

DSC01868.jpg

Let's do something a little different. Let's ride The Beast!

DSC01870.jpg

When I say "US"

DSC01871.jpg

I mean "US!"

DSC01874.jpg

Our group rode The Beast together. I can remember Avatar, Gigacoaster2k, Violakat, and Adventure2007. There were a few others.

DSC01876.jpg

What does our onride photo look like? (Epic nerd moment)

DSC01877.jpg

Another great thing about Diamondback

DSC01878.jpg

It towers over everything.

DSC01879.jpg

EVERYTHING

DSC01880.jpg

Dedicated to Jordan Hill (beastfan26), who sadly could not join us today. Hang in there buddy!

DSC01881.jpg

I can tell you, from the POV I was worried that Diamondback would be slower and less exciting then I thought. I was wrong. Very, very wrong.

DSC01882.jpg

Our group practically walked onto The Beast. When we got out, this happened.

DSC01883.jpg

There was an entire group of people looking at Diamondback. Who wouldn't?

DSC01884.jpg

Vortex looks just a little more orange with it's new paint job, but quite honestly, if they were gonna invest in paint, invest it in Flight Deck danngit!

DSC01885.jpg

Our group PLANNED to ride Flight of Fear, but it broke.

DSC01887.jpg

We lost Angie and Kat, and a few others.

DSC01886.jpg

But hey, The Racer wasn't running a full train!

DSC01889.jpg

So we rode it.

DSC01890.jpg

Then our group headed to the walk-on Adventure Express. Great ride, as usual, despite the fact we got stuck on the second lift for about 30 seconds.

DSC01891.jpg

At this point, our group had broken up. We checked Action Zone, and it was packed. I walked back to Flight Deck, it was packed.

DSC01892.jpg

Enjoy it while you can, Beaver.

DSC01893.jpg

Wanna do Diamondback again? NO!!!! The line was huge. HUGE. HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

DSC01894.jpg

I went up in the Eiffel Tower to see how huge. Here's Action Zone, which hasn't changed.

DSC01895.jpg

Oktoberfest, which hasn't changed.

DSC01896.jpg

Coney Mall, which hasn't changed.

DSC01897.jpg

International Street, which hasn't Changed.

DSC01898.jpg

And, Nick Universe, which sadly, hasn't changed.

DSC01899.jpg

But hey, Rivertown looks pretty different!

DSC01901.jpg

Webcam Nostalgia.

DSC01904.jpg

This is what the new Beast Enterance looks like.

DSC01905.jpg

The splashdown area, in which the grass hasn't quite grown.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ6P7yVoiNM

A Video I made of Diamondback's line. Thanks to Jordan for putting it on youtube.

Embeded:

DSC01909.jpg

Diamondback from about 1/2 up.

DSC01910.jpg

Since there was nothing left to ride that doesn't have an hour wait, we rode the carousel on our way out.

DSC01911.jpg

This made Trooper Mom (The poor packmule for all our bags) very, very happy.

DSC01912.jpg

I'm sorry, I just can't help it.

DSC01913.jpg

The Diamondback Bus!!!!

DSC01915.jpg

A little artsy photo I took through the sun roof of the car.

More in just a second........

I do indeed agree that DB destroys Millennium Force. A few disagree with me on this, but I think it destroys Magnum as well. I was so excited to ride it that when we were almost to the station for our inaugural first rides, the realization hit me like a ton of bricks as the station erupted with deafening cheers, screams, and whistles. I actually had tears of joy running down my face. Jesse thought I was scared! :)

DB's airtime is out of this world.. it slams your stomach into your spine as it speeds down every drop, and at the top of every hill you literally float up completely out of your seat for like 3 straight seconds. It really pulls you through the hammerhead and helix too.

You guys were an amazing group to hang out with yesterday. I never wanted the day to end. Rivertown does indeed look amazing and so does the park.

Great pictures!

And I don't think that Diamondback beats Millennium Force, although it does come close. The height, speed, and angle of descent is just incredible on Millennium Force, and although you don't get as much airtime, the hills and turns feel wonderful, I can't even describe the feeling.

Oh my gosh! I am SO uncontrolably jealous, about not having a season pass!

I cannot wait till' I get my car and am able to drive to the Island every weekend!

Ugh, I could almost just cry.

But great pictures, Jackson! I just LOVE your amazingly clear and perspectively perfect pictures! Keep doing what your doing!!!

Great pictures. Do you mind if I use one as my desktop background?

Don't you just love how amazing the weather was yesterday! Just as I imagined it would be.

Sure, use it. I don't mind.

Myself and indianapolisman were in that group as well, in seats 1-3 (indianapolisman) and 1-4 (ME)... and yes please thank T. Mom very much for holding our giftbags and taking photos of us all on Beast and Racer!

Ohh, hia then!

It was in my trip report. I think it was just a really bad muscle cramp, but it wasn't fun.

Tell your mom she ROCKS! and we love her!

Ewwwwww. Creeeeepy  . Anyways, AWESOME trip report Jackson. I kept looking for you while I was in line for DB and then during the rest of the day, but I never saw you. What all did you recieve from the park for your bid? Also, what did they serve you for breakfast?

I do indeed agree that DB destroys Millennium Force.

Angie you traitor! Might as well change your name to "b&mhyper2k9". But that's okay with me. One less rider on Millie :P

MF ftw.

Oh it's still on my top list.. it's just number 2 now instead of number 1. I'm still going on CP opening day, you can count on seeing me there.
