My sister had a friend in high school who went to a church where a majority of the girls wore those all the time (I forget the type of church). Back in 1972 when it was near 100 degrees, I notice a group of people that were either Quakers or Mennonite's wearing their traditional attire. The women were wearing long, black skirts with long sleved tops and guys with their beards and same type pants. If you have been to Dutch PA, you see them all over and riding in their horse drawn buggy's. To a lay person it would seem they must be crazy wearing that clothing in such heat. But if anybody has ever been in the Saraha or any other hot spot would know they cover themselves from head to toe to protect them from the heat and stay cool. But the black clothing the guests were wearing absorb heat rather than repell it. But they kept themselves well hydrated and had no problem in dealing with the heat. I took my boys, 3 and 4, to KI for the first time a couple weeks ago. It wasn't easy trying to explain other peoples' behavior to them. Like when a grown woman line jumped right infront of us at Wild Thornberries. Or when a group of 10 yr old boys ganged up in shooting my 3 year old in the face with the water guns at Jakeroo Landing. I didn't even attempt to talk to them about some peoples' attire, just hoped their young enough to not even notice. But i was proud of my boys for being patient and understanding that they needed to wait their turn. And they were fearless! They are future thrill seekers that will follow park rules because I'm raising them to be respectful. If these kids and young adults had good parents they wouldn't be running around the park half naked and cutting in line. Also on Wild Thornberries at the end of the ride when the elephant shoots out water.. a saw a guy pick his very young daughter, about 2 yrs old, completely out of the car. He used her as a shield so he would stay dry and she got sprayed in the face. She was obviously upset, but he laughed it off. How is this girl going to learn to respect others when her parent shows such careless acts of disconcern for his child's wellbeing? At Boomerang Bay a mother sent her 2 year old daughter down a small waterslide on her belly with NO LIFE JACKET. I'm not sure why the life guard even allowed it. I was at the bottom of the slide when she hit the water. She just sank with a look of fear that chilled me right to the bone. I jumped to pull her out of the water, but a woman closer to her beat me to it. I was so glad the girl was ok... the stupid mother casually walked over laughing and didn't even thank the woman for saving her daughter. Then the mother made fun of the daughter for being scared. The Interpreter Posted June 25, 2009 Share Posted June 25, 2009 I saw some really obviously inappropriate shirts at CP. Is it really that hard for the admissions people to turn them away? I've seen them do that before. When I worked in admissions at the front gate, I would ask people wearing offending shirts to change it or turn them inside out before going through my line. The offending shirt had in big, bold letters "F**K Y*U". I also seen a security guard escort a guy with a offending shirt to the shop to buy a decent shirt to wear. At Great Adventure, the welcoming announcement into the park includes warnings that smoking is allowed only in designated areas, that line jumping is strictly prohibited and that offensive clothing will NOT be tolerated, including attire with offensive words...and that turning the garment inside out at the admissions gate is not a solution (who are we kidding? If all you do is make them turn it inside out, they will just go in the park and turn reverse the garment again. It's Apostolic/Pentecostal. I wear skirts only, and yeah most of the time..they are ankle length. I wear longer lengths when I'm there with the kids and know I'm not going to be riding much of anything that requires the middle seatbelt. On days I know I'm going to be riding Delirium, Drop Tower, DB, Slingshot, etc., I wear a skirt that is just past my knees. Decent enough for rides and my religious beliefs. Oh and a funny tidbit of info regarding ankle length..it's not required we wear them that long..basically as long as the knee is covered, you are ok...but most of the time, they are worn that long because well..... we haven't shaved that day or didn't have time to. And you can thank me for that mental image next time you see one dragging the ground heheh Now there is a good answer to my question. I did not think about the religious reasons, but you do have an alterative when you want to ride those rides that requires a different attire! Going back to the skirts, I was refering to ones you see that are painted on and wearing high heels like they were heading to the club, not an amusment park. That is not pratical (At least I would not think so.) I was not refering to a loose fitting skirt to keep cool and being consious when entering a ride while wearing one. Please accept my appoligies if my previous post offended anyone. Ah none taken. I knew what you were talking about. It takes a LOT to offend me and there's no need to apologize. No shorts/skirt/pants, nothing. It looked like she was in her underwear. I'm not sure if the DB crew let her ride in this since she was too far ahead of me. Once back in the 90's while sweeping the Vortex line, I saw a lady wearing a brief bikini top (Dolly Parton size) along with cut off shorts exposing her bikini bottoms and she had a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Did it cause her to blush or turn red?? Nope. She just fixed it as if nothing happen. I remember her because she was wearing a red, white, and blue bikini and you might say she was showing her "colors!" I think this is ok over at the water park, but not in the park itself. I think all bathing suits should be covered, even the tops. Because I am proud of the work I do, I made sure that part of the line was spotless. Speaking of doing good work, once while working for Montgomery Wards as a porter, I was pushing a dust mop along the hall when the lady I refered to as "Miss America", was wearing her usual purple skirt with a slit going all the way up the side of her leg. As she past me and I turned my head to keep her in my sight, I ran into one of my supervisor friend. He knew what I was doing and laughed also. The point is wearing revealing bikini tops or any other clothing is a distraction. Also beings we are a family park, children are witness to this. They should not have to see this. They are a distraction! My favorite story was from 2007 when I was with my (then younger) kids walking through Coney Mall: While I was "distracted" by an attractive woman in a bikini top, one of them said "Look how big those are!" I looked down and fortunately he was pointing to the stuffed Spider Man prizes at one of the games! But I was worried for a second and actually feared that I was "busted"..... Who says they would've meant you were busted? Theyh could've actually been thinking that, although I wouldn't think so with them being so young. Well, some of the bikinis people wear look like a mini skirt on the outside, so they could argue those are shorts. Then they could argue their top is a shirt (since it does cover them up...sorta) and their bottom piece is their shorts. I wouldn't agree with that logic, but someone could argue that.
