Halloween Haunt?

As I said before, Massacre Manor is missing its front this year (last year the house was up all year) so I suspect that house is getting a redo. Here's hoping they don't ruin it, it was by far my favorite indoor haunt @ KI.

Actually, the front for that house isn't up all year; it usually goes up mid-August and they were in the process of repainting it last season back to its dilapidated state.

Now the front for Club Blood, on the other hand, is up all year. The only thing is that a wooden fence (and a piece of burlap covering the logo) blocks it from view.

who was the lady last year that held the muffler and was constintly freaking out?

Which muffler thing? O:) the short one or the longer one that was a "blanky"

there were two different ones?

When I worked Fearfest I always felt that the rudest people were the parents who brought their frightened kids through the line and would yell at you "Don't scare my kid!" Well I'm sorry sir or ma'am but if you don't want me to scare your kids don't bring them through the line in the first place!

As for the tough guys, if I couldn't get a scare a second try I would come up with something funny or make fun of them in some way to their group to let them know they don't have to be so serious and they could enjoy themselves. It worked probably over half the time, but sometimes you just get punks and there is nothing you can do but move on to the next group.

yeah i hate those type of guests, and last year i took my gma in to red beards revenge with me and one pirate came out and said to her "argh, granny would you like some rum?!" the whole group started bursting out laughing.

People should not be allowed into HH with a stroller, especially the large double ones you can rent from KI. I was at HH last year, and the midway was really packed, and this stupid dumb *you know what* practically runs me over with her stupid stroller. Then she acts like it's my fault that she was walking on the wrong side of the path running everyone over, and shoots me this death look! She was complaining to anyone that was within hearing range about how she didn't like the crowds and her kids were scared. Why do you have your kids in the place lady!?

........end angry rant.

I see it every year with the little kids being brought in all scared by their parents. I think the little ones should be left home. As for the scareactors, I think they do a great job for the conditions that

they work in. I am old enough to not be scared that easily but still find the haunts fun and enjoy the thrill of seeing who can surprise me when I don`t expect it. Plus its really fun to see the younger ones

scream and jump so much. Here`s looking forward to another fun HH season....I can`t wait!! :D

Oh but it's so fun to scare the little ones!

At St. Ritas haunted house If I see a little kid with an adult, I go straight to the little kid, even if s/he is already scared. It's like thats what you get for bringing the kid in. Almost every one else at Rita's agrees with me....

*Cobra ready for the responses I may get to this :)*

Haunt is a huge moneymaker for the park, so no doubt they want to get the promotion going as early as possible. I noticed the hearse as well when I was there this past Saturday. Retailers also employ the same tactics..as soon as the back to school rush is over later this month, you can bet you'll see halloween displays spring up overnight along with the requisite fly by night costume stores.

I always felt bad for scaring some of the kids that came in. As the father of a 4 year old, I know how it's hard for her to seperate fantasy from reality sometimes, so I feel for some of the kids that come through. It will be years before I bring GatorGirl to someplace like Haunt (says I, who took her onto Haunted Mansion at MK last year... figure that one out! ). But each parent is different, for good or bad. There are some kids that can take it and can have fun in the attractions, and some that are the same age that are clinging to the parents for dear life.

I loved the HM as a 5 year old, but if you would have brought me to a haunt I would have FREAKED OUT and probably would not want to go to an amusement park for a long time not only because the HM is full of "nice ghosts" but because unlike a ride where I knew that it would end, wasnt real and no matter what nothing was going to happen so long as I remained in the car. Not true about a maze full of fog, real people, and no barrier.

Personally, if/when I have kids there going to be at least jr high age before they get to go to a haunted park.

But the nice thing that St. Ritas does is we offer a "Flash Light Tour" which is you still get to go through the house, but the monsters are "Afraid of the light" so we don't scare them. alota kids will come through and give us Highfives. And because prices aren't that bad alot of them come back through with out the lflash light. Anotherthing we offer is A day time trick-or-treat thing, you come through the house, but everything is turned off and the lights are on, and there ares some of the people there and we hand out candy, and you usaly get to pick a pumpkin...

But most of the kids that I scare are the ones with parents literaly dragging them dragging them through the house, one parent even said, "Come on, it aint evean that scary, stop being a b..." you can finish that statement.

last year was the first time i had gone to halloweekends at cp. it was far superior to hh. i was caught off guard for the first time and thought it was great. i have been trying to figure out what they do different. the scareactors will work in pairs. one to distract you and the other brings the hammer down. i'll be spending my weekends there this year.

I have to agree with Stalker Chick. I worked inside Urgent Scare, in the "elevator" room as an eyeless doctor(which was an evolutionary character). as a "newbie" I learned alot about who you can and can't scare, and we all dealt with punching & kicking. Given what we had to work with I feel everyone did a great job, and as the season wound down it was more difficult as we kept losing people. I don't think we ever had the 80 people needed to properly work the attraction. what i find funny is I have seen several posts about how "lame" US was, as well as several stating how great it was. Folks, it is all subjective, and we are all entitled to our opinions, and I see all feedback as constructive. I can remember scaring some people so bad they would fall over, and one woman refused to go any futher in the attraction. and some of the best scares come when you catch a "tough guy" off guard.

Just My 2 cents worth..

Typical Guy

Awww.. I've missed you!! I loved working in the next room the last weekend with you guys :) minus having to jump out of that bed to push the darned button everytime... why the button was not in the elevator... i will never know....

I'm just hoping my good buddy Kronos comes back this year. He's been hibernating since last fall, so I'm sure he'll be very grumpy when he wakes up, and sees tourists romping around his yard.

Uh oh... Kronos is kinda a big meany O:) lol but he might (hopefully) have a partner this year :D

I see it every year with the little kids being brought in all scared by their parents. I think the little ones should be left home. As for the scareactors, I think they do a great job for the conditions that they work in.

That is my absolute WORST part of Haunt... When i pop out when i see ppl (not seeing who the ppl are) and some mom or dad literally punches for jumping out and scaring their kid (or them lol) its not fun, and i have dropped character to offer to escort them out of the park it gets THAT bad sometimes... We had to completely E-stop shut down Urgent scare and evacuate everyone out, cuz someone brought their 4 year old in and she got so scared she climbed under a table and behind a finling cabinet and would not come out... her mom couldn't even pull her out she was holding on to something for dear life... so all the ppl, all the scareactors had to leave the area (and any are that went to the emergency exit) and then we had to find normal ppl to cover up any props in the room to get her to come out. 20 minutes later and then we have to reset everything on top of that.... theres a warning for a reason. Haunt starts to transform at 5pm. so when the monsters go to their attractions at 6:30-7pm, your kids should not be in the "parade" area and theres no use screaming at us that we're scaring your kid.... pushing and shoving us away... when we're just simply walking... not scaring.

If your kids are old enough and want to do it (which i know a few who's parents are on this site lol) thats all well and good bring it on. But i HATE parents who drag their kids along. I have gone out of my way to drop character and talk to the kid like a normal person. have them give me a high five, touch my boo-boo's b/c i KNOW they do NOT want to be there. And i feel bad for the poor kid. But now teenagers... oh their fun to catch off guard... the little girls that scream and run are a blast.

KI is still working on making theirs "scarier" and i think they're doing a darned good job over fearfest. As far as the partner thing... a lot of places will do that. One person might just stand there being totally obvious therefore no ones looking at the person hiding. I did it a lot popping out from under the picnic table at Urgent Scare, while my partner just stood across the queue staring ppl down. In fact when Allyssa came to join us we had a great trifecta ping pong scare going! :D those are so much fun when you can get doubles

i feel it was better when it was FF. they changed it to HH and promised so much more and just haven't delivered.

when cornstalkers was along the path by junklot, it was the best haunt in the park.

I'm really hoping I'll get to make it this year. I just found out I have been accepted into nursing school (RN)..so now my schedule is very much up in the air.

Hmm...Perhaps I'll need a mental health day come October.

hhehe ;)

I remember there was a haunt that went back by WWC when HH was FF. Anyone remember this? I think it would be cool, considering those woods are creepy at night.

Ah yes, Tombstone Terror-tory/Headless Hollow. THAT haunt.

It was a killer concept (taking the train to the woods when it breaks down and you have to walk back to the main park via WWC's exit), but the execution was just god AWFUL, especially when it transformed to Tombstone. Granted, the costumes and sound effects (and one small aspect of the scenery) were amazing, but everything else fell flat on its feet when the scareactors could only resort to hiding behind boxes and crates. Not to mention the hideously long lines for both the train AND the haunt itself, and the lackadasical storyline behind the haunt. I was shocked to find out they didn't do an old-school train robbery where undead outlaws would hold up the train, force everyone off, make the train leave, and send everyone on a Death March to Ol' Boot Hill.

^ Now THAT I would like!! I thought the train haunt was so awful last year, but a train robbery would make it pretty cool!

I'm in the air on whether I want to apply to be a scareactor. Not just because I'm concerned about placement and a lack of control, but because I'll be unavailable two weekend in October, one for my sister in law having her first baby and one to be the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding ON Halloween.

I think I may put in an application and if I don't like what I hear in the interview I won't take the job, if offered.

So... Maybe you'll get to see a scary (or scarier!) Kat. :)

Can someone explain this to me? I didn't do any of it. I just rode roller coasters. LOL

Take the time to try the Haunt attractions some of them look really good but the ones I tried last year was just plain stupid.(Urgent Scare and Cornstalkers)

I know. Urgent Scare was not scary at all. It was just really gory. Kind of like that one movie... "Haunting in Connecticut".

All it pretty much was a bunch of infected doctors working on infected patients which are screaming.... very scary. NOT!

So what doesn't scare you or another person on this board may be the very thing that drops someone else.
