Adventure Express Lift hill

To kind of get back on topic, I would truly sacrifice 2010's trashcan budget towards installing & maintaining fifteen - no, ten - fog machines in pivotal places in the park: 2 on Adventure Express, 3 in Top Gun's valley, 1 on Italian Job and 4 on The Crypt. Truly, these would be less than five thousand dollars to install and maintain through the season, and would speak volumes to both enthusiasts and casual park-goers about Cedar Fair's commitment to the park / commitment to theme.

Whether first-time visitors realized it or not, having fog (in Adventure Express' volcanic tunnel and final lift) just adds some really interesting, fun, interactive level to the ride. Riders would just sense something more fun, adventurous, and mysterious about it.

Not to mention how The Crypt would honestly be ten times better with some disorienting fog, eerily pulsing red and blue thanks to the already-functioning lights... Imagine it! Ahhh...

well the park owns lots of fog machines as evidenced by HH..not sure how much fog juice costs, even in bulk, but im guessing that they only budget enough for the month of october..as has been said, a lot of theming on rides is long gone..crypt, AE, water after the final drop on BLSC..and even the fog elements on FD that were once in the line. I'd rather KI's budget for installations next year will go towards saving SOB.

What? The Frontier section of Cedar Point is among the most beautiful of any US park. The views of Lake Erie from many other parts of the park are breathtaking. Cedar Point is far from my favorite park, but it is far from ugly. See Michigan's Adventure or Dorney, just to name two examples of parks far less picturesque than Cedar Point.

Ah Terpy I said of the parks I have visited. :) That only includes CP, KI, Dolly World, Disney World, Universal, Hershey, Busch Gardens Virginia, the Sea World in Ohio before it was GL, and Sea World Orlando. Its hard to beat all of those parks.

The Frontier Trail is pretty, yet isn't a big section of park. You can easily walk through it in five to ten minutes. The lake may look nice from the tops of coasters or on the beach, but from the midways it is barely visible, especially with the big box coaster up front. You have to admit that the front of the park is nothing but concrete and sea gull poop.

Adventure Express may be pretty slow, but it's too fast to see scenery in the tunnels. That's why I don't like it. Everybody always talks about the awesome scenery, but for some reason, all I see in the tunnels is blackness. Something else I realized is the themed lift hill's chain is too loud you can't hear whats going on. And people scream too much during that part, it totally ruins the effect. Oh well.

A response to Firehawk123-

I'm not trying to sound sarcastic, but wouldn't that be because of the darkness? Much of the original lighting has burned out and never been replaced... and most of the visual effects have been removed anyway...

Next time you ride, notice how (seemingly dangerously) close AE gets to trees and weeds, especially around the first part of the ride. Some of the track even has grass growing through it, really adding to the "Adventure" effect.

...and a beautiful old turreted building that once housed a casino, a grand old racing carousel ride...beauty is where one finds it. I, for one, do not find Cedar Point ugly. Ugly is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose...

What building are you talking about because I know Disaster Transport's building was never a Casino?

I'm not sure if this is what he's talking about, but I know in the beginning what is now the arcade was one the grand ballroom. It's kind of a shame - it was hardwood floors, really high class dances, etc. and now it's covered in bird poop (which it might've been back in the day, anyway...) and is full of games. Very strange! I'm not sure if the second floor retains its original appearance or not.

On the subject of Cedar Point's level of beauty, I've always looked at its entrance as an ugly, over-sized strip of cement. The gardens that do break-up some of the pathway are nice, but most everything else seems like generic or unattractive buildings and over-sized coasters... The main street of any theme park creates a first impression for guests, and should therefore be as inviting and beautiful as possible. I'm glad Kings Island doesn't have a giant inverted coaster dominating International Street, but instead has varied and interesting buildings and an iconic centerpiece for the park.

That looks like fog/mist to me ;)

And just to throw it out there, the picture doesn't qualify as a POV, having been taken by R&R Designs (the company responsible for Adventure Express's, as well as Phantom Theater's, themeing) prior to the ride's opening in 1991.

^I enjoy Adventure Express and have several memories of Phantom Theater, but I don't think I'd choose R&R to add new life to AE or SDATHC. Instead, I'd take advantage of various technologies and themeing from various companies to create a new, completely original, attraction.
