SIDE NOTE: Always avoid Jello, Jelly Beans, Gummy Candy, and Marshmallows because they contain Gelatin which is a translucent, colorless, brittle (when dry), nearly tasteless solid substance, derived from the collagen inside animals' skin and bones; derived mainly from pork skins, pork and cattle bones, or split cattle hides. (Rice Krispie Treats are made with Marshmallows)

----------------
REMINDER: Everything in the world is done in baby steps. The first step is just to simply stop eating meat. Regardless of what happens to cows during or after milk and cheese production, they simply would never be killed if no one ate meat.

Some will say that if no one ate meat at all and people consumed more milk and cheese then this would enslave the animals, but that's another story for another generation
. Right now our only concern should be to stop the slaughter houses, because we shouldn't argue over spilt milk until we first stop all the spilt blood!

Animals Lay eggs and give milk without dying! Once again I'll emphasize everything is done in baby steps. Just as you would not skip to the last page of a book before reading it, you should have a list of priorities of which order can obtain a goal, else the order, direction, and focus is broken and all you'll be left with is chaos!

No offense to the time you took putting this together, but I`m sure some of the menu items will be changed for this year.

And it is generally considered that Kings Island (and I heard similar comments down at Carowinds last weekend) does not offer many healthy meal choices. Especially look at many of the options you listed. Many of them do not scream healthy vegetarian choices to me. I mean, can you even buy such things as caramel apples at Kings Island (let alone regular healthy apples)? Part of the reason that some people will pack their lunches and eat in their cars (besides the outrageous food prices (I spent nearly $13 for a 20oz drink and two slices of pizza at Carowinds last Saturday), is that there are not a lot of healthy food options inside of Kings Island. Not to mention that generally the quality of the food is no where near what you would expect for the high prices you are being asked to pay.

Selective,

It looks like it took a while to compile this! While I'm not a strict vegetarian anymore (now a pescetarian shamelessly rolling in shrimp), I do know that it can be hard to find vegetarian choices at theme parks! At KI, I always waited for a stroll past Potato Works or gorged on cheese pizza at Festhaus, with all sorts of gross snacks in between and a parking lot lunch. This list is definitely going to come in handy for someone. Good work. :D

I should let you all know something.....

When I put this list together I found many typos on the visitkingsisland web site for their food listings, and seeing how Nickelodeon was still listed, and the new pretzel shop on International Street is still not listed, I don't know how accurate any of this is. CoastersRZ may be right, this whole menu may change after April.

If anyone notices any changes to the food options before I do, post here and I'll update the menu when I can.

oh, I know this food isn't healthy, I know it's expensive, I know most will be eating in their cars, but it's just so nice to know what all the options are and where they are without running all over the park asking everyone.

I used to complain about all the high prices in the park, and the cost for admission, but after knowing how much Diamondback cost, and all the other rides. I don't mind any more because I know where the money is going and I want more rides and if more rides means higher prices then so be it, it's worth it to me and I love to show my support.

My advice, buy a whole pizza cause it's cheaper than buying by the slice.

Hey, thanks for making this.. my friend greatly appreciates it, it will make choosing lunch in a few weekends much easier lol.

Not sure if you were being facetious but, yes you can buy such things as Carmel apples.. You can get them in two forms.. on a stick dipped in carmel, or sliced up served with a side of carmel. You can also pay a dollar less and get plain old apple slices. Did that many times last year.

And just because someone is a vegetarian does not necessarily mean that they are a healthy eater. Be happy that he spent the time and effort making this instead of tearing him down just because Kings Island doesn't have "healthy options." Maybe you should talk to Kings Island about that?

Doesn't Skyline Chili in the park offer vegetarian burritos as do other Skylines out of the park?

My sister and I are both vegetarians, and we always eat before entering the park if we do a half day or leave the park if we are doing a full day. Not only are we limited in selections, but the quality for the price being paid, especially for the items we get, is ridiculous.

The park is constructing a new website. I doubt they have the time to deal with little imperfections. You have all the time in the world obviously... To construct a menu and pick out these little imperfections... Go right ahead I doubt they would mind you running their website. I doubt your money is going into future investments rather probably just trying to pull the company out of debt, and paying employees of course. But never the less Mr. K needs all the nickels he can get...

No, I was not being facetious. I did not know if one could buy caramel apples in the park. I thought you could, but wasn`t entirely sure. Just for my own curiosity, where can you buy those apples at?

I think it's a very common misconception that vegetarians eat the way they do for health reasons.

Clearly healthy food is not a concern of the general public as it visits the park. Otherwise I believer there would be more of an effort to add healthy items to the menu listings.

No

Same with their Subway in the park, no Veggie Garden Patties either.

:(

As for the Candy Apples, I remember them in the park also, but they were not on the menu anywhere. Perhaps they were only during The Haunt.

Except Ryan, I believe that some parks like Disney and Busch have begun to introduce more healthy meal options to their parks in recent years. Kings Island and other Cedar Fair parks generally haven`t. If someone were to be looking for a healthy meal at Kings Island, they would generally be out of luck. In fact, last weekend, before leaving the hotel and heading to Carowinds, I heard some families talking about how they pack their lunches and eat at the car, because there is nothing healthy for their kids to eat, and they don`t want to pay an arm in the leg for the fattening food that the park does offer.

I gave up caffeine about two years ago. Doesn't leave much for me to drink but I know all Root Beer is caffeine free.

They do serve Root Beer in the park, but only at about half the places they sell drinks at.

There's always something to eat or drink no matter what it is you need, you just have to know what you are looking for and where to look.

Let's take their pizza for example. Just because they only serve Cheese for us Vegetarians doesn't mean this is how I have to eat it. I could very easily walk on over to Rivertown Junction Dining Hall located in Rivertown and snag some "Green Peppers, and Banana Peppers" from their salad bar. Then walk over to Larosa's Pizzeria located in Rivertown and ask they make me a whole Cheese Pizza with the "Green Peppers, and Banana Peppers" added (at no extra charge)!

Just think of reality as a game, it's a puzzle waiting to be figured out. All you have to do is put all the pieces together.

Hmmm. I'm not seeing the menu for the Happy Days burger joint. Unless I"m just not seeing it? It's got a different name now, I'm sure, but it's the 50's themed joint with the cars out front.

We used to order a burger from ehre and ask for an extra bun, They'll give you an extra bun (or at leas they did for us) and while my son ate his burger, I'd put lettuce, tomato, etc. on my bun at the condiment bar and call it a meal. It sounds devious, I guess, but it costs the park pennies and that burger we purchased was priced at least 5x what it cost them to make it, so I don't feel too bad. At least we bought the single burger that day instead of doing the parking lot lunch!

Not sure if they still have a condiment bar there, or will give out buns, but it worked for us once.

yeah, that 50's Diner is still there across from Shake Rattle And Roll and Vortex. I just didn't list it cause they only had all meat products on their menu, and none of the condiments were specified.

When I visit the park, I'll be sure to check them out in person and see what I can list from them though.

With them being themed as a 50's Diner, I was very disappointed they never had any milk shakes.

Except that in order to gain access to Rivertown Junction you have to pay to eat at the all you can eat buffett. I doubt they would let you come in to just grab some vegetables to take out and walk down to LaRosa`s.

True.... and especially not on a weekend when they are crowded.

I guess I would have to wait till during the week when they aren't busy so I could reason with them and pay a dollar for their trouble. After all, veggies are costly and if everyone did this without paying anything then they would be out of veggies.

Not to be rude or anything but is this necessary? Isn't it just common sense that if you're a vegetarian you stay away from Skyline , grills and the like and go to a place like LaRosas? I'm not a vegetarian at all so I could be totally wrong but...

I love how this starts with 'not to be rude or anything'.

The park is constructing a new website. I doubt they have the time to deal with little imperfections.

They never really worried about the little imperfections on the old one - hopefully they are more diligent on the new one.

I gave up caffeine about two years ago. Doesn't leave much for me to drink but I know all Root Beer is caffeine free.

Sprite is also caffeine free and widely available - as is the fruit punch if you don't mind the sugar high.

Okay thanks for clarifying that. I can't imagine having to spend all the extra effort looking for food without meat. I wouldn't be a very good vegetarian!

Try imagining having to spend all the extra effort looking for food with wheat, soy or other allergens (especially at a park like Kings Island where the information is not readily available) - being a vegetarian is at least a choice. And for those that want to critique the OP for writing this up - I'm sure there are many others who are quite happy that it was done so that they can enjoy a day at the park without having to do all the research themselves.

As an aside, do vegetarians worry about cross-cooking? For example, are fries that are fried in the same oil as chicken nuggets typically considered ok?
