From my understanding, the tolls are designed to help cover the costs of building those bridges, much like they're considering for the Brent Spence Bridge here in Cincy (for those not from the area, BSB carries traffic between Ohio and Kentucky on interstates 71 and 75)

But...the JFK Bridge is also to be tolled, from what I hear...

That bridge is receiving refurbishment, so it will be included in the tolls project.

There was talk of also tolling the Sherman Minton, so it wouldn't be used to bypass the tolls on the other bridges. That wasn't included in the final proposal, mainly because this bridge was paid for with federal funds. (Though my guess is that it's only a matter of time until they find a way to toll the Sherman Minton as well.)

Tolls for non-frequent users will be $2/crossing with a transponder, $3/crossing with a toll-by-plate prepaid account, and $4/crossing if they have to mail an invoice. (It will be all-electronic tolling.

EZ Pass is accepeted in Indiana under their trade name "I-Pass". As for tolls on The Sherman Minton, don't count on it. While that bridge will not be tolled, it will no longer be the most direct way to get to many parts of Louisville and the surrounding KY area Ever since Indiana got $3.5 billion for leasing (not selling) their toll road for 75 yrs, other states are jumping on the bandwagon. Mind you, times were different in 2006 when the lease was entered into (and the economy better). It is no coincidence the lease calls for regular toll increases for the duration of the lease. At the time of the lease, the toll operator predicted profitability within 10 years. So far, they have taken a pretty big loss (but we're only in year 7 of 75, so plenty of time left).

So I hadn't heard any of this yet. So is the bsb going to be tolled?

It's not certain yet, but they're saying that it's likely to be part of the project recommendations. See http://www.brentspencebridgecorridor.com/tolling/ for more details.

I'm admitably a bit of a lurker in this thread, but thought I'd share some news from today. Apparently Ed Hart allowed the media to tour the park for the first time since the initial press conference in June. He's "absolutely confident" of an on-time opening.
