Fast Lane

Although, I still do not agree with people on the idea of the Fast Lane system price being lowered, because it would just be used too much and defeat the purpose, i really don't like the idea of the Fast Lane system at all. I think it is being abused. It is being allowed on attractions it shouldn't be allowed on. If it were up to me, I would just do away with it completely....but it's not up to me.

When i went to the park last night they recently added Fastlane on two attractions: Viking Fury and Adventure Express. As of today, my friend who works at the park texted me on his break and told me that they added fastlane on Dodgem.... Not really amused with this. What's next, Fast Lane on The Grand Carousel or even better the Eifel Tower????

I bought the fastpass when I went a few weeks ago, but thats cause I live 3 hours away and was only there for one day and I wanted to ride all the rides, but after I used it once on each of the rides I didnt use it again cause I felt really bad not having to wait. My friend and I felt horrriibbbllleee because when we went we thought it was like a virtual queue where you go back at a certain time, not "lets skip everyone who is waiting"

Top deck can be Fast Lane and bottom deck can be regular?

From the Toledo Blade article:

"Mr. Helbig concedes the program's success will depend to a large degree on how patrons waiting in line react. He suggested they might boo the line-cutters. We wonder whether standing in line for long periods in 90-degree heat, only to have a bracelet wearer jump ahead of them, might induce a stronger reaction."

So if you are against this, maybe you need to start booing and getting angry in line , although having now been to the park a few times since this was introduced, I can't really say it's impacted me to a degree that is worth complaining about. The only real impact is that when I visit with my family, I can no longer quickly run away and catch a ride on Diamondback via the Single Rider Line (which was not always a guarantee of a faster trip anyway, but was most of the time).

If offered at other Cedar Fair parks, I can see myself using.

I agree, that's getting a little of hand with the addition of those rides.

Hello, everyone. I appreciate the feedback on the FL system since I'm planning a trip from Toledo (3.5 hours away) this Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm willing to pay the money since GF and I are PP holders and go to CP nearly every Sunday, but this will be our first time to KI. We won't be back for at least a year.

My main concern is that this will be a waste of money. CP is generally less crowded this time of the year, especially during a weekday, but crowds seem heavier this year. Trip reports on this website from last Monday make it sound like crowd levels are still pretty high. Do Cincinnati schools start this week? If so, maybe that will help.

I called KI, and they said they have actually sold out of the FL passes nearly every day, but that seems hard to believe, especially given the feedback on the low usage on this website. I'd prefer just to go in the park, see the crowd level, and purchase a pass if necessary, but they are making it sound like they sell out all the time. Anyone think this will be an issue? Can you even buy them in person, or do they have to be online? Thanks so much!

Well, they could very well be selling out of the passes. I wouldn't make an assumption that just because people on here don't buy them, that nobody does. People on here go a lot more often than most general public people. Some people on KIC go at least once a week, if not more, so they wouldn't really need to purchase a fast pass. Unlike someone who might have a season pass that only goes 2 or 3 times a year, or someone from out of town that goes once a year. It really just varies from person to person, so the fast passes could indeed be selling out.

Hope you guys have fun on your trip! Be sure to get an evening ride in on The Beast, and write up a report on this website how your trip went! :D

Fast Passes are sold throughout the park at very convenient locations. It is very possible to buy one in person, and should be easy to find.

Enjoy your day at the park!

I have been waiting to weigh in on this topic just to watch the back and forth. Not a huge fan of the idea because of the cost per ticket and there is not control of where and when guests will use this program. Everyone using Fast Lane could use it on Diamondback all day, slowing down the regular line.

A system like Disney's FastPass, which is free would be a much better option. Or even if the park wants to charge then the Q-Bot system like Dollywood uses. Both of these systems work on a reservation system allowing only so many to use during scheduled intervals during the day. They have very little effect on regular lines and are still very quick for folks using the system. Also these systems allow folks to schedule their day and provide ample free time to spend nickles in the park while waiting for a FastPass window to open.

Once again just seems like a poorly executed idea and system. There is not incentive to do anything else in the park, but ride rides. As a company I want to schedule guests ride times so that inbetween those reservations guests can go spend nickles on food and merchandise.

Many peoples' concerns here about these fast passes seems to revolve around the word, "could". 300 people "COULD" by passes and back up DB que for hours. Fast passers "COULD" prevent anyone from ever riding in the front seats again. 20 busloads of gamblers "COULD" take a left turn at Albuquerque and end up at KI instead of Hollywood Casino, buy out the flash passes, ride Firehawk all day. Aliens "COULD" land, pay extra for premium parking, load up on flash passes (that would have to be put around their necks, 'cause their alien wrists are just so darn small) and back up FoF til the probed cows come home. "Could" can be an extreme word.

Speaking strictly from personal experience, we've been many times since the pass system started and have seen no "COULD" scenarios even come close to playing out. Has anyone actually seen any major problems with this system?

If wishes were fishes, the world would be an ocean. I've been to the park three times since the Fast Lane passes have been distributed and I've seen a max of 8 Fast Lane holders in line for Diamondback. And with the ride ops getting the trains out as fast as they do, we waited an extra three minutes. And boy was it a killer three minutes.....

Not really, because if a person entered the regular que, the same time a person entered the single rider que. I'd bet the one who entered the regular que would get on first. But it depends on the number of odd number groups there are.

Look at this as a business decision. If you buy the FastLane a user is more likely to focus on riding rides multiple times and spending less time waiting, visting shops, food stands and playing games. There would be need of this customer to get their moneys worth out of the FastLane, but what if there was a FastPass style system, (free or upcharge). Customers would have reserved return times which would allow them to visit the park more casually, play a game while they wait, browse a gift shop, or even purchase some overpriced food. FUN continually states that they want to increseas in park spending per guest to improve the bottom line. You tell me which system "could" help accomplish that?

Or you could look at it as the normal person buying a Fast Lane pass is not a power rider, and are only looking to make sure they get to ride everything, but probably will not ride most rides more than once, except maybe a couple of their favorites. This would give these people "x" amount of extra time that otherwise they would be waiting in line; to buy food, rummage through gift shops, play games, etc.

Snowman, we have been told by one poster that they were denied a front seat...which may never happen again...but at least at that point in time "could" became "did"...and the single rider line for Diamondback is now gone...which "does" affect people to this day. ;)

The denial of a front seat from what me and others have observed seems to be an isolated incident. Of course it "could" happen again, but doesn't look likely. I'm sure changing the single rider line has meant more revenue for the park and will hopefully fund future park improvements we all can enjoy, even single riders. As kingsrattler pointed out, wasn't the single rider line a form of line cutting? and they didn't even pay extra for it. Good for KI to find a way to charge for this privilege.

I guess we "Could" go back and forth about this til next season. :)

Your preaching to the choir! That sounds like a great idea and I hope KI looks into it. My point was that many posters seem to have set up extreme "could" scenarios that haven't come close to actually happening. If we're going to have a legitimate debate about this, shouldn't we focus on what we know and have seen instead of setting up scenarios that haven't and probably won't happen. Except for the aliens riding FoF!

I didnt see the Single Riders Line a form of line cutting. It allows individuals whom are by themselves to help fill in empty seats to help better capacity. Yes, the regular line can sometimes be quicker but on a really busy day the SRL came in handy for somebody looking to ride who didnt care who they rode by. With the Fast Lane taking over the SRL i have seen many empty rows on DB,including the back seat! (IMO the best seat on the ride)

I see DB single rider line as line jumping but not Mavericks at Cp. My family saw it first hand at DB just days before FL started. Two girls in SRL were assigned empty seats on our train, one with our son and one farther to the front, when it came time to board they did not and then got back together in the Q up front, second seat. When ride opps came to lock us in they wondered where the single riders went and we pointed them out up in the second Q line together. Then the employee thanked us, locked us in and then went and removed the girls back to the SRL. That would be one of my deffinition of line jumping, not everyone in the SRL is by themselves and a single rider.

Airtimeluvr, you know by tattling on your friends, you're really just tattling on yourself. By tattling on your friends, you're just telling them that you're a tattletale. Now is that the tale you want to tell?

(Just kidding...i'm glad you did that and that they didn't get away with it!)
