I filled out a form with security, but they didnt call. I assume when no cash was in the bag, they put in the the garbage. I figure filing with the Mason PD won't help. I raced home to cancel my card, oddly, they never tried to use it. Had to get drivers license replaced, and when we go back over I will go to guest relations and replace the passes. I'm sure there is a fee. The biggest issue is replacement of the car key/remote. A shame, but honestly I can't believe this didnt happen sooner. Locker rental used to be a hassle. The person I was with wanted to just leave the bags out and not spend the $12 on a locker but when I told them your story, they were happy to spend the money and lock everything up. When you walked up the the kiosk to get your locker, every on of them said sold out, and even the workers were letting people know they were sold out! He decided not to get a locker and he laid his clothes and shoes on a lounge chair. When he came back his clothes and shoes, and I think even towel, were gone. Who steals someone elses clothes and shoes? That's just ridiculous! Needless to say we always got lockers after that. Too bad Kings Island screws you over on locker rentals in the waterpark. $10 for that sad excuse for a locker is robbery! They should be ashamed! If by "sad excuse for a locker" you mean the ones they had last year, they now have all brand new electronic lockers as of this year. They were so small that my girlfriend and I could barely get our stuff in there. And no way was I buying 2 lockers at $10 a peice! So yeah "sad excuse for a locker" was referring to last year's lockers being small and expensive! I'll be curious to check out the new lockers this season. Also, if this year's small lockers are not big enough, Soak City now has medium and large lockers (last year the waterpark only had small lockers). The medium lockers are $15. The large ones are $21. If Gasoline is $4.00 a Gallon, People Still buy it because we need it. If Lockers are $20 a day or $20 an Hour, people will buy them because they need them. It's pretty much impossible to get around needing a locker. I guess you could take your chances and leave your shirt, shoes, and towel out on a lounge chair or in the grass, but judging by the original topic of this post, that's not a great idea. I leave everything in the car, put my passes, credit card, and car key in my suit, and carry in two or three old holy towels, my rattiest t-shirt, and pair of $2 flip flops per person. To your point, yes, the things we think we have to have on us has gotten kind of weird. A couple of nights ago we went to a place where we would need to mute our phones for an hour. I opted to just leave mine in the car since I wouldn't need it. My wife assumed I had forgotten it and picked it up. I put it back. She was surprised. Then hers went off twice during the meeting. But, while at Cedar Point I have witnessed people put souvenir cups on top the lockers or near a sign, or somewhere that would be safe for their stuff, and employees come by and throw them away. I don't really see how that's fair at all and it really ****ed me off. I can understand the park not being worried about them, but for them to purposely throw them away is rude They throw them away because no one is near them and they are trash at that point. And because there's money to be made when replacements are made. Actually, when I did a theft report, which included a stolen pass, I made sure the victim had their card replaced free of charge. Uinversal Orlando has lockers where it scans your finger and rember's your print for you to unlock it and get it out. the best thing is the first 1hr-1 1/2 you get free and you can get your stuff out before you have to pay. OldieButGoodie Posted June 22, 2012 Share Posted June 22, 2012 This infuriates me. One thing I can't stand is a thief. I know it happens daily throughout the world, but that is my biggest peeve. I go in with as little as possible to the park or any other venue where a lot of people are gathered. It's refreshing when someone honest returns something they found or escorts a lost child to security. I agree completely. If it's not yours, leave it alone, or do the next best thing, which actually happened to us at Carowinds! My son removed his fannypack to use the restroom, and inadvertanly left it in the restroom. It didn't have much in it, but what was there was important to him. The cleaners had taken it to Lost & Found, where we found it on a last-ditch, nothing-to-lose stop on the way out. He was one happy boy, and so was I. It would not have been easy to replace the Castaway Bay pack either! Last year though, I asked one of our group to keep an eye on my towel while we hit the slides. He rolled his eyes and dozed off. There was no towel when I returned. It won't be replaced either - got it at Myrtle Beach and haven't seen one like it since. And there are many, many reasons for that: Universal is a small part of a huge media conglomerate. The resort makes up only a small portion of the company's total profits. You pay a lot more to visit Universal than you do to visit KI. As a result, guests expect more (just as you would expect more from a Maserati than you would from a Chevy). Universal sees much bigger crowds than KI does. As such, they need to find ways to get large groups of guests on and off their rides as quickly as possible. I imagine these jerks 'case' the park and watch for folks sticking stuff back into a bag that they want. Just a word on the zipper locks though - I doubt that's even much of a deterrent, if they see you put something they want in there. A pen is all that is needed to part the zipper. In fact, it can be opened with the pen and then zipped back with the zipper! Try it on an old bag... you won't believe how simple it is to do, and it looks like nobody touched it. I agree with Terp in principle, supply equals demand when the lockers *just* sell out every day, but they're still hideously expensensive considering the options. However, a trip to the car or the lockers are pretty much the only options for anything you can't afford to lose. It's just a shame that people think that if you don't have your valuables on your person, that they're there for the taking.
